The show was released on Netflix on 12 November 2020, consisting of one season for a total of 8 episodes. It was set and filmed in Istanbul, Turkey, and tells the story of a group of unique characters from dramatically different socio-cultural backgrounds meeting in startling circumstances.

@@ellf535 in fact the series is about a unique group of characters who come from different socio economic backgrounds and cross paths with surprisingly coincidences in the colorful life of istanbul. People liked it because it was so realistic for us. The director (Berkun Oya) made us say “this is the real story and real İstanbul” while we watching. Negative comments about the series are very few and frankly we dont think that they are realistic criticisms.

I am very surprised to see that you get the idea behind the scenes quickly despite of the some very bad translations. The series is handling a very heavy topic and most parts of it are potentially easy to get lost in translation. Even accent differences between the characters which are impossible to translate or mimic into another language have deep meanings in the story line and show their status in the society.

This show is so good, I watched it when it came out and loved it so much. I highly recommend you to continue watching and reacting to it, I will gladly watch your videos if you do. This series shows our country's people's psychologies and their daily life struggles very successfully. ''Bir başkadır'' is a quote from the song ''Bir başkadır benim memleketim'', means ''My homeland is something else'' in a loving way. ''Bir başkadır'' represents ''something else'', but this time it is used to describe the differences of each unique group of populations' lifestyles-mindsets of this country. The other shows and films you watched are good on their own but they don't do a perfect job of describing the things I said earlier. As a foreigner like you, I think this show shows the life in Turkey and the people in it the best for those who don't live here. It's not just that, it's a well written, well directed drama show with interesting characters and plots in it. Love your videos 🙏🙏

Good choice, a real arthouse serial. As a foreigner you may not get some key points and critics mentioned related with the political situation, secular/religious conflict, Kurdish/Turkish discrimination of Turkey between 70's-90's but no matter what Ethos is one of the best Turkish serials ever. Truly a masterpiece. Made me deeply think about the relations, politics, prejudices even the meaning of life...
By the way it is a technical process. Some therapists goes to other therapists to discuss about the patients. İt is an experimental method.

Turkey actually contains in itself a conflict may seem from the outside, although a Muslim country. There were times when headscarved women were not admitted to schools and state institutions. But now we are experiencing the opposite situation as the rulership is closer to the Muslim side. everyone wants to interfere with someone's life and I hate it.

And I have a recommendation, the story is in the past and it shows how Turkey, people, politics, relationships were back then. Movie is out today in Netflix and it is called "Have you ever seen fireflies?" It is a remake of an old play in theatres in 90s. I want to know your view about this one.❤

I recommend you to watch Şubat or Subat. It made at 2012. It's one of the best turkish drama in my opinion... It's fantastic/science fiction genre and about homeless' and Istanbul's secrets underground lifes. Also it's on Netflix too...

Okay, I've seen this video on my homepage and then watched your reaction to Turkey's 2010 Eurovision song and now I'm kinda confused because I cannot understand why your CZcams channel is consisting of way too many Turkish content (it's resembling Twitter Turkey's agenda lol). By the way, I think the English translation of the series is a little problematic because Meryem doesn't use Istanbulite Turkish (which makes direct translation impossible). Anyway, my recommendations are 1) İşe Yarar Bir Şey (2017, by Pelin Esmer, also co-starring Öykü Karayel), 2) Uzak (2002, by Nuri Bilge Ceylan), 3) Nar (2011, by Ümit Ünal).
