  • What motivates our repentance? Are we sincerely remorseful, or do we simply fear
punishment? These are questions that each Christian must ask when confronted with his or her
sin against our holy God. In this message, R.C. Sproul describes true biblical repentance and
the posture of humility that should accompany a contrite heart before the Lord.
This message is from Dr. Sproul’s 8-part teaching series Psalm 51. Learn more:

Awakened to dreadful sin!!! Dr. Sproul communicates so well. Especially in prayer, as when David prayed. Amen, the prayers of a broken spirit to heal, broken by what we have said done sinfully. And then the joy of forgiveness. Dr. Sproul teaches and preaches so beautifully, from his heart, Into my heart, David and his prayer, Psalm 51-my own prayers. God knows. Praise God. Amen

If only everyone from pastors to detached youtube manifesto experts would wait until they repented and God restored them to think they know everything and try to teach transgressord their ways.
This is definitely a passage that shows how far David knew He was from Gods Holiness and we should realize we are in the same boat. There is no room for boasting in a real Christian life.

Psalm 51 is usually read in churches worldwide on Ash Wednesday. I am a Lutheran and we always begin our Ash Wednesday services by entering the church in silence. Then after the welcome and announcements, the presiding minister has us turn to Psalm 51 and we read in unison, vs. 1-17.

I know someone who was a huge fan of RC. Sproul's teachings and religion before they left and became a Christian.

Excellent explanation of repentance - just wondering, I hear a lot that David was guilty of murder, but as I read it it was attempted murder only - it seems Joab failed to order the other troops to abandon Uriah, who then died in his chosen profession of soldier in the normal course of battle - it also wouldn’t be conspiracy if Joab wasn’t a co-conspirator (one could argue the messenger was though) - anyone know why Joab countermanded David?
