Houston keep up your spirits on fish ventures your doing great and becoming quite the young 👨
When Houston throws the net make sure he lets it hit bottom. When he starts to pull in the net he pulls hard which causes the lead to come off the bottom and fish will swim underneath and get out. Tell him to make short jerks which closes the net then pull up to close the bag of the net. I taught my son to throw a cast net when he was 4 and he is now better than me. It doesnt hurt that we live next to Pensacola Beach so he gets a lot of practice. I hope this helps.

The fish have gone to deep water in hot weather, they go to weeds and deeper water where it’s a lot cooler just like we go to cooler spots . You check structure in deep water you will find them

All fish go deep in hot weather. To catch feeder fish for Houston's pond. Feed your fish with the feeder at the bass pond. When the minnows and baby fish start feeding then throw the cast net. When the younger smaller fish feed, the bigger fish get curious and come to the shallow. That is when you cast your net after you throw feed out

Otters can clean out ponds in no time at all. They will catch and kill fish and lay them on the bank and go right back into the water to catch and kill again. I have seen them leave the pond area with dead fish laying everywhere.
Love those dogs of yours they get loads of exercise following you around. Hope youtube is fine with Bella's snack!!!

Well, I'll be darned but I just watched an old Andy of Mayberry where Andy and Opie caught a big ole fish in the pond and did a 'catch, clean and cook' right there on the bank.
It so reminded me of you and Houston. 💕

Get you some quart jars with lids & funnels and put some corn meal in them. When you put them out turn them on there side put some trotline string on the jars and with a good stick set them out you should catch some minnows.

Y'all should put hybrid bass in the pond! Awesome fighting fish that isn't shy about bit'n , Can't reproduce, and will eat the pellets so they don't really complete to much with black bass!

Houston needs to take the time to make better cast with his cast net. Fewer and better cast will be much more productive than lots of sloppy ones. I used to catch tons of shiners with a "shiner trap"! The ones I used were glass jars with a funnel entry. They get in but can't get out. The bait you use will vary according to whatever is the most successful in your body of water. I was successful with little pieces of cotton seed cake.
