Whether you are buying these 3 rods or 3 other rods....get a rod designed for what you want to do. Whether I am snap jigging big jigs, finessing a light jig and minnow or rigging in deep water....these 3 rods will get it done. Thanks for watching!

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup czcams.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Tom, I always appreciate the insightful tips you provide us anglers. As much as I enjoy watching you on the water and anticipating the glimpse of your catch after hearing "hooked up, fish on!," take a day off, stay home in your office, and please, please make a video about attaching your fluorocarbon leaders to your braided line. This angler wants your secret. I've tried many types of knots for it, and been frustrated with so many videos/articles explaining technique, that you would do this fishing community a favor by walking us through your technique. Keep up the great content!

There's so many knot videos on youtube man, I don't think Tom does anything that special honestly. Double uni, double surgeons, whatever. Just cut the tags short and you're good. Ideally you don't have to reel it through your guides much and they aren't real tiny ones

    • @Himes26
      @Himes26 Před 3 lety

Small barrel swivel works fine, instead of having to learn a line to line knot. I do really like the rp knot, goes through line guides a lot smoother than double uni knot, but it’s a slightly more advanced knot, one you would want to tie at home, not on the water. Works great for braid to fluoride and is also the best for mono backing to braid.

Picked up 2 Elliot Rods Friday to fish with on Red Lake for MN opener.
    7'3 ML fast and a 7'3 L fast!
I'm now totally an hooked on them!
Also paired them with Piscifun reels!
I asked a guy at Elliot where to find them. He informed me that a shop close by was receiving an order. Call the shop and bought them over the phone.
I also made sure they knew that Tom Boley's CZcams videos were the reason I want to try Elliot Rods!!

I usually use 7ft medium action Shimano rod (sojourn) with 8-10lb test for fishing for walleye. I find using a bigger rod or heavier action rod, it isn't as much fun as feeling the fight on a lighter rod. Love your videos tho man, I've used a lot of of your tips on catching walleye.

Hey Tom, so is it safe to say these 3 rods would be listed as:
7'6" Medium power (w/light action tip)
7'3" Medium power (w/light action tip)
6'9" Medium power (w/fast action tip)
    ...or as:
    7'6" Medium Light power
    7'3" Medium Light power
    6'9" Medium power (fast tip)
...just for more clarification? Because there can be a world of difference between a Medium power rod and Medium Light.
