I'll sign just about any model even if they aren't my designs, but my designs are a lot simpler than Kamiya's and most of mine are readily available on CZcams and I'm not exhibiting any models in museums so my signature probably isn't going to be misinterpreted as meaning I folded it, and even if it is, I simply wouldn't care.

Instead of asking him to sign it. U could ve asked him for his autograph. A big difference in terminology. Request it like a master's autograph on a students work.

Why do you expect him to sign it? His signature would imply that he folded it. It would be like a painter signing forgery of his work. A better attempt to get his signature on it would be to put:
F: YOUR SIGNATURE
D: HIS SIGNATURE
Or you can spell out Folder and Designer. He'd be more likely to sign if both or you are, as then correct attribution is given to the folder and designer. But even then he still may not. He may have a firm policy that only models he folded himself get his signature.

@@voldy3565 Japanese take pride in what they did. The folded origame paper with his signature will only give the vibe about him doing it but actually it was the other guy. And the fact it's not Kamiyama work why should he give him a signature that prove it's his work?
May be you just take a photo of your ryujin and ask him to sign on the photo will be better great work btw

That sucks, understandable though. I met him 4y ago at the book store, he could not shake my hand even though he was 5 feer away . So dissapointed... Kamiya-san is my favorite folder, we even share the same month and year of birth , although I am older.
My brother had a similar experiencie. Kamiya may be one of the greatest origamist, but as a person, is really a dumbass.

Danial because authors only sign their own works, mainly because other people would think it’s actually his fold it that makes sense. I tried to get Robert Lang to sign my moose but he rejected

I... I actually think he should've signed it. Origami isn't like other art in that your supposed to remake other peoples models - It's not like him signing a forgery of his own painting. Eh... it's just my opinion but I think if I was him I would've been less awkward and said "ahh wow, thankyouu" in my own language, signed it and then said "very good" in a thick accent.
