  • @KontoVonMir
    @KontoVonMir Před 3 lety

    Super important would be to pre-lube the engine before turning it over. Do not let anyone tell you to just turn it over until oil pressure builds up! For a $19k engine it shouldn’t be a big deal to get a pre-lube canister for a couple hundred bucks should be a no brainer. This way you’ll have instant oil pressure when you start it the first time.
    Also just FYI: maximum rpm of an engine is strictly limited by piston speed. The magic number is 25 m/s. Even Formula 1 doesn’t go over that. The lesser the stroke, the faster an engine can rev if the components allow it strength wise. The cam doesn’t really enable the engine to rev higher, it just determines in which rpm range the engine will perform best.
    Good decision to go that route with the engine and also to leave it NA. Boosting is such a short cut way to make more power and it comes with compromises!

    just curious.. are you going to take 3d measurements of the water pump cavity and passages into the heads.. have one 3d printed in clear so you can spin the water pumps up while using a high speed camera to verify you are not getting cavitation from the shape of the water pump impeller blades that can limit the coolant circulation flow and the mechanical pressure the pump builds up against the back of the closed thermostat.. increasing the boiling point of the coolant. each pound of pressure increases the boiling point 3F.. this is not cooling system pressure. this is water pump mechanical pressure built up by the blocking of the coolant flow by the thermostat.. forcing the coolant to circulate thru the bypass hoses that if i am not mistaken are in the back of the intake and involve the heater core.. that is a lot of info.. but the bypass circuit allows the coolant to circulate thru the block. the heads and back to the water pump before the thermostat opens allowing the coolant to swap from the radiator to the engine/heads circuit.. hopefully the cooling bypass on the back of the heads.. will help but does it just connect the back of the heads or does it run the coolant back to the water pump inlet. or the lower radiator tank.. which ever feeds the water pump inlet.
    i would also like to know if you are planning on sending your injectors out for flow testing a cleaning and again flow testing.. to verify that they can flow at the new higher RPM red line i know you are going to wing this engine too.. make sure to photograph and also write the numbers down off the injectors.. so you know they have not swapped out your very high flow injectors for a stock set.. because somebody in the shipping department did not know what they were doing or they planned on selling your injectors for a fortune to others..
    if you have a set of GT350 factory service manual info.. please study the coolant flow diagrams if included..
    while the engine is out.. also study the wiring diagrams and the more important GROUND Location diagrams. make sure before you put the engine back in that you clean every ground connection. this is not just the negative battery cable connection to the block there are usually 6 or 7 ground connections around the engine bay. that need to have both sides of each ring terminal wire brushed to remove oxides and the bottom side of the fastener head wire brushed and the mounting surface cleaned also.. why... electrons travel from Negative to Positive.. Ground connections in a car are NOT For safety. they are half the circuit and the side that supplies the electrons.. guess what. if you have a bad ground. you will have a restriction to electrons flowing thru and reduced overall voltage to your component so it won't have enough electrons to do the job as designed. you don't run an engine that has a kink in the fuel line do you.. do you run an engine that has a smashed exhaust tip restricting flow?? don't do it to your electrical devices. you may also want . i don't know how many miles your GT350 has on it.. but you might want to look at the cooling fan wiring diagrams and see how many relays it has. it may have a relay known as a braking relay.. that when the positive fan control relays are NOT energized. it removes the fan ground connection to the body and runs it back into the fan circuit.. this stops or significantly slows down the fans at high speeds. to stop the fan motors and blades from exploding from the high speed ram air thru the radiator. if the braking relay is bad. and its not in the fuse box .. you may not have enough electrons to spin the fans at full speed.
    my favorite ground ring terminal cleaning devices is a Lincoln Electric stainless steel wire tooth brush from Homedepot .. its about $3.50. just enough bristle strength to clean the oxides off without removing the coating or plating. but who am i .. just a former professional auto mechanic with 40 years of skills.. you would have loved riding in my 66 GTO with a 408 big block chevy in it.. i loved watching the passengers as i shifted gears and their heads bobbed backwards.. my little sister compared it to a take off in a jumbo jet.. it pushed you back in the seat harder and harder as it went faster and faster .. it was also insanely loud.. turbo mufflers bolted directly to the collector adapters. no exhaust pipes. you could hear me miles away if i got deep into the throttle. it was 5 years after i sold that car that i could hear vacuum leaks again. and i never should have sold it. that car is why i became such a proficient mechanic.. i had to fix everything on that car several times. went thru 6 engines in 5 years. cheap parts the engine rebuilder sold me.. said they were the best.. the best at his profits.
    you really need to put in over 1,000 miles without going over 5,000 RPM on your engine if you expect it to survive for any length of time.. don't let anybody else drive it.. until you have over the 1,000 mile mark. as they will go do burnouts with it and destroy the engine again. just because it will red line at 9,000 rpm does not mean you need to wing it that high to show off or do burnouts with. burn outs are to heat the tires to get the rubber super sticky.. impress people with the brute force acceleration the car has. not how much smoke you can produce ..
    wayne..

  • @daveboling8411
    @daveboling8411 Před 3 lety

    I realize you are going for aesthetics here but back in the day I have seen what happens when clutch's explode in a car at only 7000 RPM and with 9000 RPM, I personally would ignore aesthetics in favor of safety. I also realize that technology today is much better then "way back when" but still, if it were me I'd opt for a high quality racing scatter-shield instead of an aluminum bellhousing, (even instead of a Ford SVT aluminum bellhousing), so that if that clutch breaks at 9000 rpm, a piece of that clutch does not end up going thru the factory aluminum bell housing, (at 9000 RPM), thru the floor and taking of part of your foot or even your whole foot. Back in the day they also used transmission safety blankets on automatic transmission's for roughly the same reason. I love that you went with restoring the original motor instead of getting a new one. Years down the road that will pay of in it's collectors value with the car maintaining all its original parts and becoming a classic and then antique. By the way, you are kinda too late to consider Super charging that engine, (without moving backwards on the build), because an engine with 12.5 to 1 compression pistons in it will not stand up to the pressure of supercharging even with hugely under driven pulleys, (which would be a waste of a super charger anyway). The average Supercharged engine usually has 8 to 1 compression pistons to make room in the cylinders for the super charger to do its magic.

    Hey Doris, super awesome video!!! I am really happy and excited for you. Wow, it's amazing all the things they installed to the engine. I can see you cannot contain your excitement haha, that is so cool. Hey Doris, that car deserves a very special cinematic video once you turn it on and take it back to the street, that will be awesome. Thank you for this awesome video, take care and have a beautiful day 👋😃❤⭐

      I was so happy to see it and all of the changes it has. I'm excited to work on it but I have to be a bit more patient till the GT is completed. You're absolutely right. It deserves a nice cinematic once it's all ready and on the street again. Thanks for watching and take care are well :)

    I think you should put a small turbo kit on it I know you said you wanted to go naturally aspirated but you also said your other cars had superchargers so why not try something different and put a hellion turbo kit on it. You don't have to get huge turbos to make gobs of power run you about 7 lb of boost something just to give a little pip in his step in my opinion hellion makes one of the best turbo kits out there. And the good thing about it is something that you can do yourself because the kits are bolt-ons which you working on it by yourself is something that you could probably do in two weekends if you just worked on the weekends and something you could probably do in about 3 or 4 days I think it'd be worth your while that's my opinion I think turbos is where it's at 7 lb of boost is not a whole lot my opinion your car but that's what I would like to see done but it's your car so but you should definitely try turbos on a car

    Fan from Europe, like the passion for engines and cars you show in the video's, you will probably like this person also, same passion for performance although not American muscle cars, Subi-performance, especially the BMW engine he is working on, you make CZcams fun to watch again.
