I love how well this song shows how someone can feel uncomfortable, even when everything seems perfectly normal around them. Your brain plays the cruelest tricks when it doesn't beleive things are actually content.

Honestly, the story from Max’s tape hit me the hardest. Something about how despite all of his issues he never directed it towards his daughter while still trying his best to fix his wrongs. He’s even technically the only one of Desmond’s patients who he actually manages to help as at the end of his boss fight, Max let’s go of his anger to help Desmond.
Technically, Nygaard wasn't the only one. Lucas comes to Desmond's aid in the game's ending.

Funny how in the tapes you listen to before entering the level, Max sarcastically asks to just be given pills, so he can pretend to take them and be on his way, but in the level, you actually beat him by giving him lure pills
After beating Max’s fight I read his letter to his daughter. I had to take a break cause that letter hit me hard.
How did max died ? I forgot

@@Tonkfuu But it's not fully clear if he did this by himself or someone from lab helped him get there. I played the game quite a long time ago but if I remember well, we could find a note from lab's director to "take care of the driver", as he made some mess when he broke into the quary.
@@hipisss5836 Max was the driver that drove Lucas into the property. Lucas got out of the truck and Max went on a rage-fueled crusade which ended in him driving into the Quarry. If I'm wrong on that, someone can correct me. It's also been a bit since I've played the game.

I loved his level in the game. It's the only time I have ever legit said "Why do I hear boss music?" and then nearly had a heart attack when that big metal loving motherfucker came charging out of nowhere. Max's theme and this song were two of the best parts of the soundtrack for me.

@UrFaveGrandchild- Honey, no offense intended, but if you plan to scold every random person on the internet for swearing you're never going to be doing anything else. It especially seems strange when it's on the soundtrack for a video game containing swearing, particularly Max's chapter.

I thought it was a train at first, then, when I realized it's a boss:
1. I ran away
2. I saw his back
3. I started to call him "angry firework" and "fat bully", laughing every time
4. Every time I've heard his music I headbanged to the beat

Poor Max, I felt really bad for him.
Anger Management is an issue that seems nearly incurable at times, and never seems to really go away. His anger? It may really have been justified.

There's something about Max's tape and his story that just hits me so much harder than the rest of the tapes. Like, he's not a great guy but I can't help but feel bad for him. Like, his wife is divorcing him and he lost custody of his daughter due to his anger issues but there's something so sad about his inability to realize that it was his doing and his tendency to blame it on everyone else.
That said, this tape was a super interesting one to play through. Nowhere near the fear factor of Virginia's tape but still interesting in it's own right.
His story is the most realistic IMO. There are plenty of people like this out in the world so it is more relatable.
"it was his doing" bro sure he was angry (issues and all) but its the "residue" that fucked him up in the first place. and then the "spy ppl" helped bring him down by getting him fired.

From what the game tell, the whole punch in the wall thing was before he came in contact with the residue.
@@TheGusst2Gamer looked my self and the first (and only) date i found regarding his behavior was (dd/mm) 19/01, and termination on 15/03, so i now wanna know what the hell happened in that month cause this seems out of place, or i could still be right knowing well how long court shit takes.
You know, I understand your point, but I still think this tape was the best. At first, I thought Max was mad, violent and overall a bad person. But after the bossfight and after we freed him, I felt really bad. If you remember, you drained out all the toxic waste from the mine, and at the bottom, you find his truck (or what remains of it), and in the glove box is a letter. He wrote it to his daughter and basically says that he wants to fix it all ; you know, his marriage, his issues. I never got that sad over a video game. This one was not focused on fear, but more on the story of this man.
SPOILERS::: So this song makes me really sad for max as the last 3 verses are bout how he was sinking into the quarry, and what's even worse is that his daughter had an idea of how he could've saved himself (if you didn't see this go back to where you get his vinyl and look in the toybox) as it turns out that max really likes car repair shows and might not have had anger issues if he got a job in that industry
Honestly amazing seeing how far TLT has come I remember hearing his songs when I was a kid and when I finally discovered the channel I swear I’ve years of play time on some of his songs lol

Max is one of the most tragic and underrated characters in this whole game.

The whole game is severely underrated. It is by far the most emotional game I’ve ever played, the whole thing was just perfect!

It sucks, because I know exactly what he's going through in those tapes. I grew up and my family was getting a divorce. Upon looking back, the shit I saw was almost exactly like that.

I'm not sure why, but the word change to him becoming more unsure that he's in the right is a nice subtle shift
Another detail: The last minute or so of the song are Nygaard's thoughts as his truck sinks into the flooded quarry after his rampage.
At first, I thought this song wasn't my taste of music but it grows on me, the lyric is just so sad that it is so good!
first time meeting max got me confused and scared which is rare since usually horror games don't scare me, i just saw the "train" comming and i quickly thougt that i should get on the side and wait that it pass, then i just hear a constant engine sound near me, turn around and get jumpscared by max

Probably because it's a much more common situation than any of the other patients in the game. Anger management is a much more common problem than PTSD, watching a ship crash or having a scarred face.
Mix that with any father's worst fear (losing their children), and you get a story that really pulls at your heartstrings.
The songs in this game are either really soft beautiful pieces and then you have this and 'Here comes a saviour' which are just epic 👌

I have severe anger issues and this hits hard. Isnt it funny, no one judges you for feeling sad, happy, depressed, miserable, excited, joyful or any of the other emotions but if you struggle with your anger, all of a sudden you need to "calm down" or "get a grip"!? How come people who are sad arent told to get over it but angry people are?

I also have anger issues, and I gotta say you summed it up perfectly. As expressed by the song, telling someone with bad anger issues to "calm down" is the LAST thing you want to do. That'll just make me more angry. I wish it didn't, I wish it was that simple to stop being angry. But it isn't
That is so true I was forced to go to a therapist for my anger issues when I was young
My therapist told me all emotions have uses -- even rage. It's okay to have it, and it's okay to feel it - but we must manage it.
She told me the same thing you did, and that no one should feel any shame for feeling any emotion ever. It's normal, and it's healthy to have anger. Without it, you wouldn't fight for anything ever and just be life's punching bag.
That's why I feel so bad for Max. He just wanted to stop being used as a punching bag. He got fired for something that wasn't even his fault, and he knew it....and then that company had him taken care of. If the quarry was so easily drained, then it was easily filled. Just saying....rampage or not, Max wouldn't have died if the company cared at all.
I think you have to listen to this song a couple of times to appreciate it's value. This is a masterpiece.
The last few verses perfectly encapsulates the regret that comes after the rage

Gotta say this level was pretty difficult for me to complete but made it and got the vinyl too. The best thing I look forward too is getting the vinyls and listening to them in-game. I love this game so far.

You play as a person (referred as The Patient by Graves, a alpha squad member) who crashed nearby Romero's House (which is where the prologue takes place), going inside you are met by a spirit of a woman (Emily Romero, who seeks revenge against Dr. Romero) and a couple of zombies, after getting out and trying to get back to your car, emily suddenly stops you, beginning the Never Lose Hope Hospital chapter
I just realized that each of the In Sound Mind songs is one of the protagonist's patients ( the protagonist is a therapist)
The protagonists name is Desmond Wales
That's song about Max Nygaard and his story. As his monster form, The Bull. He has Intermittent Explosive Disorder. He hates of being lied like his ex-wife, Alice. Lucas feeling uncomfortable about Max who snuck to him as Lucas gives Max for 200 bucks as Max get Lucas in the quarry as mentioned it by Max's post-tape.
I knew Tomar was Max's voice actor the moment I heard him.
When I figured there was a song for every character I was excited to hear Tomar singing, lol. But hey it turned out really fitting with Guy First, guess Tomar isn't a singer anyway.
