Today on the show, we have the fantastic horror writer - K. Hari Kumar. He is an Indian novelist and screenwriter. He has penned the story and screenplay for many Malayalam Movies and the Hindi language psychological horror web series Bhram (web series). He has been featured as one of the top horror writers in India. He has written 50 horror short stories which featured in the 2019 book called India's Most Haunted.
The one thing I know for sure is that ghosts, monsters, torture, darkness, and everything in between... They're all modes of some sort of (dark) self-discovery.
As you might have noticed lately, our content (reels, podcasts) has become much darker. It's much more inclined toward the paranormal now... That is because I'm personally exploring these subjects in depth. Have they taken over me completely? Not yet. But I am definitely altered by the things I am learning about.

I am a Goan Catholic, my grandfather was from Cuncolim, originally his parents or grandparents were Hindus who converted.
But Goa Catholics continue to believe their roots.
In the 90s, I remember grandfather always spoke of Bhutas (in Goa they called them Rakondars or protectors) who protect boundaries of lands and their people, their possessions, he would speak to them often especially walking alone late nights and tell me how Rakondar would walk with him to home, how these spirits would protect him from evil spirit attacks and temptations on his way back home and he wouldn't fear.
I believe my grandfather as I have witnessed real evil spirits possession of my uncle and his exorcism by elders with the help of Rakondar with my own eyes.
I am glad finally we are respecting and knowing our roots... than just bollywood garbage.

We truly appreciate your effort to spread awareness about local cultures and traditions. A few corrections:
    1. We prefer the term 'Daiva' over 'Bhuta'.
    2. These are 'Protective Spirits' and are also called 'Satyolu' (Satyas or Truths) who are said to preserve balance between Nature and Man. Hence Daivaaradhane is highly focused on the relationship between Nature and Man (One of the key themes of Kantara)
    3. Kola does NOT equal to dance. In the Daivaradhane tradition, Kola is an annual event. There are 16 parts/systems within a Kola, ONE of which is the dance (Nalike).
    4. Serpents are worshipped very prominently alongside Daivas in the same region and the reference is often made by the Medium during the speaking (Nudi) part of a Kola.
    5. The Medium is said to be possessed for not more than a few seconds at a time during the Kola ("Mukkaal-muji ghalige" and this can happen multiple times the same night), and is said to be a channel for the divine energy throughout.
While the talk and experiences are really interesting, sometimes, people who don't know the practice will find it hard to believe and dismiss it as blind belief. The real essence of a practice gets left out and just these superficial-sounding instances get highlighted.
To talk about the values associated with such highly detailed and nuanced traditions, please bring in people who have seen and know about these traditions.

Proper city area to be precise... heart of the city if I could say n you see kolas happening within a km radius here... n you can ask any Mangalorean...and I beg to differ...kolas happen everywhere in our south canara regions...city, town, village doesn't matter. If the deity resides there we worship him or her. So it's not a foreign concept. It's a way of our living and they are as important as our gods to us. For us they are our protectors, our ancestors. We call them ajja(grandpa), Amma/appe(mother)...so yes there's fear and devotion but more than that... there's love ❤️ For them we are their children. They call us their baale(child). A suggestion if you could really get someone from this region to speak about our beliefs.

Some other religions also and humans have introduced this diety concept to serve us so we bowdown to them and evry single diety is specific to some purpose and we took our mother to specialised doctors they were unable to find what actually the problem is but some how we started believing these things and i. @@yugandhar5344 Actually in islam, it is said that the there are different creeds in the Jinns. Each one are represented by different names. Some creeds can fly, while some can control you like possession, some can play with your emotions. The top among them are ifreeths. The most powerful among all. They are from the decendent of Satan/iblees/azazil/lucifer. These live along with us in the parallel dimensions. Because our sight is only restricted to visible light, we cannot see them. But they can see and here us. Coming to the topic, islam says jinn knows so many things about us due to them having life of several hundred years. Some are thousands of years. These act as diety and provide you temporary things which are in their control like if you bow down to them they full fill you task by influincing the emotion of the person from whom your task is to be meant. Suppose an interviewer are being influenced to select you by triggering their satisfactory emotion. They just play with elctrical signals and chemical of the body. When you dont worship them, they harm you to make you feel that they are there and they dont want to stop you praying them. So people start with the greed then gets trapped into it. Some even lead you to death. This is common isn pagan culture all around the world. They just name it different. This is what islam warns about parellel being who lived evem before humans started on earth. They are pictured in a dark colour, with deformity like half human body and half animal. The most common among them is a snake body shifting which they usually do to interact with our dimensions.
