Howard supposedly got a gag order on O&A to stop them talking about him on their show. I think Howard was threatened by them and it was a dick move by him if it is how O&A have described it. Howard’s MO was basically trash any potential rivals on air but never really did it with O&A… he arguably did worse to them. O&A and Imus got on great though as far as I know
Comedian Freddy Lewis once called into Stern’s show. He was hung up on. Lewis kept trying to get Stern to say, “Roddy Piper needs a show on WNBC!” xoxo The Clarences
Stern and Imus has been going at it for years so it's weird to see them in the same room praising each other. Does anyone know how their longstanding feud began?
Jason Heavner, actually Don Imus gave Stern several accolades throughout the years even when Howard still slammed him. As successful as Howard became, and rightfully so given the tremendous talent he possesses, you’d think he would finally let it go. So many Stern fans think they hate Imus simply because Howard does, which is stupid. Imus, without a doubt, has given more money to charity than any radio broadcaster ever. He’s not a bad guy. Either way, I like both Stern and Imus. Both are the best radio interviewers.
Two massively huge egos plus an enormous amount of substance abuse on Imus's part plus a great deal of insecurity on Howard's part at the beginning and Imus could be a real dick to people.
This TV report was from late 1984/ early 1985- Imus used to show up on the WNBC Stern afternoon show regularly back in those days- supposedly used to zonk out in his office after the morning show
The Howard Stern TV show (someone may have mentioned it already) was on KCOP Los Angeles (I'm pretty sure it was on channel 13 (KCOP, now UPN) in the Los Angeles area) was so funny, it was in the lates 90's. I wish it was still on the air, I think it was just for TV, not the filming of the radio program like it is now (or was in the 2000's) it was an awesome show, I remember a line of people in the studio ready to eat glass and do weird crap just to get to talk to Howard.
Stern deserves credit for revolutionizing the radio medium. Before howard radio was a snoozefest. He made it fun and interesting. The envelope needs to be pushed sometimes and kudos to him for doing it. Radio needed to evolve.
I love Howard and Don. Two awesome DJs. Both speak their minds and hold nothing back. They stand for freedom of speech what it stands for. Imus is the shit....I love him to death. Even though his ideas and mine clash at times. Howard is the ulitimate king of the airwaves. I love what he has to say next, he out does himself daily. Great find and thank you for posting it.
+Phil Ouze Yeah, "VERY early days" had me thinking this was done in the Fall of '82. But the tip off was the mention of Bernard Goetz, who shot the 4 thugs trying to mug him in the subway in '84. Howard had been at WNBC for 2 years.
wow, great old footage of those 2 in the same studio on air at the same time! And that whacko Lloyd Lindsay Young! I remember him from a network news show as weather guy. Was it Channel 4?
The reporter on this clip was Lloyd Lindsay Young, who was the weatherman on WOR-TV in NYC.
HA! omg this video clip is absoultely a timeless piece of art!! I would watch this stuff all day.
The comment is an ancient piece of art.
I didn't know Imus and Howard ever got along, this was interesting.
@PL Lyons Well he's aged perfectly into Imus so I guess its a succes.
They didn't. This was just the two of them making it look good.
Oh they didn't. They had to make nice when they worked together but in reality they both hated each other.
he hated Imus. you people are complete retards, were you even alive when thus happened? clearly you weren't there and aren't real fans
I wouldn't call it getting along. They were just being professional on camera.
"Well I did do some summer stock"
holy shit! howard and imus being vaguely cordial!!
Golden throated lmao
golden tits
Golden shower throated maybe ......
I landed here after re-watching Private Parts. "golden-throated Robin Quivers" lol wtf.
Haha, before Imus and Howard's feud.
"Golden throated" Robin Quivers?? LOL
She's obnoxious but she does have a great voice
Obviously from deep throating too many 'bananas', ummmm, yeah, that will do, 'bananas'. :D
Think they meant Golden Showered
@@Amero2323 Man idk about that her laugh gives me a headache.
Iconic voice, come on…
"Talk Talk" by Talk Talk!! Great tune! :-)
And "Ride the Lightning" on vinyl. Gotta love the 80's :-)
wtf!?
Great pieces of vinyl from the noineteen eighties.
RIP Mark Hollis.
Someone needs to put together a doc or something about the radio wars between Howard and imus and opie and Anthony
We're they ever really at war with Opie & Anthony?
I don't recall Stern mentioning them much on his show.
Howard supposedly got a gag order on O&A to stop them talking about him on their show. I think Howard was threatened by them and it was a dick move by him if it is how O&A have described it. Howard's real voice on display here...
You can feel the excitement and energy, I think that's what's missing nowadays. When you get to the top of the hill, where do you direct your energy?
So 80s, catch the "Axel F", theme from Beverly Hills Cop at the end there?
Great show.... the history if howard stern on Sirius xm is frAcken awesome

i fucking love the 80's
Lots of coke
Suddenly I want to return to 2006..... :-(
Howard was really angry because he thought he was more talented than everybody else in a shitty industry and he was 10,000% correct.
It could be worse. He could be tossing Donald Trump's salad.

Jason Heavner stern is mad bc imus fucked Howard's first wife
Probably the “old guard” protecting his turf.
Tension is a part of any good story. The tension here was contrived in the name of radio theater.

Lloyd "Helloooooooo" Lindsey Young. Surprised to see Howard and Imus being genial with each other.
thank you
Back in the days when Howard was ALWAYS "going to be leaving radio after this contract ends."
Lol you can tell Howard hated Imus even back then
Talk Talk by the band Talk Talk. Hit #75 in 1982 but was a huge college and alternative song.
You still among the living?
@@Emma-dh1lx Not sure... let me check
Howard!Howard!Howard!Howard!Howard!Howard!Howard!
It really doesn't matter who hates Howard Stern anymore. There are just too may of us devoted fans that love him. And I mean LOVE HIM!
Paneeks/Boston
Still feel the same today?
There are to knobs on my radio one to change the station and one to turn it off. When Howard was on the Air I didn,t touch either one.
Robin used to be in love with Howard.

Yeah I can imagine
this is great!!!!
Loyd Linsey Young doing the interview. A weatherman.
But made a small part for himself HEELLLLOOOWWWW YOUR TOWN
Radio was changing dramatically, and people were incensed.
great video ! saturday 4/24/21
a legend
Imus looked half in the bag when he made his grand appearance and ready to find a park bench for a nap immediately after.
And Howard was right, he never did radio again.
Howard Stern, shocked the waves and Philly was another story, sad but true.

Yes yes! Lloyd Lindsey Young reporting… from the past.
He was planning. He and Robin even filmed a pilot for a late nite show for Fox, but it didn't work out.
Golden throated means "Good sounding voice". I remember hearing it in the Sam Adams beer commercials.

love the cymbal
looks like they were at least civil and cordial to each other early in their career
Love that quote "Howard Who?"

awesome
no. it,s lloyd lidsay young, a local ny reporter. howard had him on his surius show a few weeks ago.
Probably the last time they were in the same room together

There is a reason why they have the phrase, "A face for radio."
Name of the doctor song?

It's funny. Everyone refers to Howard Stern as "Howard" and Don Imus as "Imus".
This is the video where Imus copies Howard Stern by video recording, TV show creating, Radio Show. Howard invented combining radio and Television.
Sounds like Charlie Steiner doing the reporting?
