  • Roon Ready isn’t Roon!
    More and more streaming DAC’s, streamers and networked audio adapters become Roon Ready. But that doesn’t mean that when you buy one, like a PS Audio Direct Stream DAC or a Bluesound Node 2, you also get Roon. (English and Dutch subtitles available)

    I purchased the new Arcam ST60 which is advertised as Roon ready, well in fact it’s not as certification has not been completed as of yet 🙈.

    Hi Hans, I already have a Bluesound vault 2i, but in another room I also wanted to listen to music with my old amplifier. Would it be a good idea to use a Roon ready product, like the ELAC? My problem is that in the 2nd room I don't have an Ethernet connection - only Wireless LAN...

      WLAN will work fine if the reception is good. You can check that with your laptop or smart phone.

    I want to play the same music simultaneously to every room in my apartment. I am worried that they be out of sync due to dissimilar latency. Can Roon keep multiple rooms in sync?

    Hi Hans, love the channel...
    My question is does Roon allow the ability to shuffle my entire collection or is there a limit to how many tracks can be queued?
    I own a Moon 790D V2 with MiND 2 which only allows playlists of up to 250 tracks at a time.
    I will definitely get Roon if I can get unlimited shuffling.
    Thanks for looking at my question.
    Darren.

      I have not come across a playlist size limit. But you should really look into the ‘radio-function’ which is capable of playing ‘the same kind of music’. Or you can store clever selections like all Motown except Michael Jackson that is available in high res audio. Watch my Introduction into the Roon music cataloguing and streaming program.

      Does Roon come with a shuffle option or is it only playlists?
      Thanks again.
      Darren.

      Yes and a very good done at that. Please watch the video I mentioned.

      I couldn't find any mention of a shuffle control in the video or maybe I didn't understand?
      So just to confirm, it does have shuffle mode?
      Thanks again Hans.

      Can you please link the video just in case I'm watching the wrong one!

    Why would I pay an annual subscription for Roon and from what I understand a license for each endpoint if there are free dlna or upnp apps like bublepmp that does the same basic music streaming? What are the differentiators for Roon? Ability to stream higher bit rates? Better cataloging and playlist management? I noticed with Bublepnp it does display the album art from my Seagate NAS but it does if streamed from my Windows PC.

      There are no licenses required for endpoints or controls. Only one license for the entire network, which can be anything from a single all-in-one device (Roon Core, Control, and Output) up to a network consisting of a single licensed Core that works with multiple Control and Endpoint devices. As far as I'm concerned, the twin differentiators for Roon are a) the deep cross-linking of metadata and b) the superior RAAT network protocol that supports multiple endpoints at true Hi-Fi quality.

      I did a series on RoonL czcams.com/play/PLMbsmejHnP8G1SNPFesNWKEXI9eHamMx1.html. If you don't see the difference with what you use now, you don't need it. Geoff Coupe is right: you only pay a license for the server software. all other software is free.

    Also does Roon support Heos as end points?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  Před 4 lety

      No, Roon doesn’t support HEOS or other DLNA devices.

    • @thewheelieguy
      @thewheelieguy Před 3 lety

      Hans is incorrect: Denon and Marantz equipment with HEOS is certified as "Roon Tested". I believe here this means tested for compatibility using Airplay protocol, which Roon limits to 44 and 48kHz sample rates.
