  • Moray House Trust continues our series of readings about historical events in Guyana with a focus on the 1823 Rebellion. The main encounter was at Bachelor's Adventure. Our primary sources are Emilia Viotti da Costa's study, 'Crowns of Glory, Tears of Blood' and Joshua Bryant, an eyewitness, participant and illustrator who wrote his 'Account of an Insurrection..' in 1824. Parts of Martin Carter's poem, 'To A Dead Slave', are incorporated as well as additional material from the clergyman Edwin Wallbridge (1848).
