I was disappointed how kang got defeated on this one, but probably kang is still being a built up villain like thanos first showed in the first avengers, and as we know kang in different versions are still alive and will maybe keep being alive. It's just the fact that the MCU has that "heroes will always win" about their movies, that's why kang got defeated or like gorr from thor got defeated even though they suppose to be one of the biggest threat, which made the movie boring or repetetive. All the movies before was teaming up and introducing new marvel characters and references from old movies, and their comedic ways use to be funny, but they are introducing darker villains with this jolly heroes and the mcu can't help but make their supposibly dark movies must be allowed for children that is why they nerf their villains. I think I understand that the mcu is probably having a hard time being creative and organizing their movies their stories and who's characters would be interesting, because since endgame, which was their biggest most built up movie ever bringing in alot of their characters was the best thing the did. For now my interest is moonknight, but I think GOTG would maybe, could be still be a great movie, because their comedy would still work also their drama still is great. If rocket dies, tears for sure.
Kang isn’t dead, he went into oblivion. When Kang loses the first time, he comes back powerful the second time like in comics.
Same thing happened with Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man when he “died.” But Kang has no powers but just being smart, everything Kang is his suit. Scott was just a better fighter when Kang didn’t have the suit.
though he got beaten in one movie doesn't mean he is beaten in others. it's just start there are many Kang variants yet to arrive

i suspect that the point of marvel defeating kang in QM is to set the mind of the audience to think that Kang is weak. I feel like QM is one of those 'built up' for Kang. Just like Thanos failed attempts until he doing it himself with the infinity stones in IW.
Hopefully we will get stronger version of Kang that will wipe out all Avengers in the future, lol
It's along the lines of what I would have liked. Though, a lot of opportunities for others were kinda passed up, I think. A Moon Knight Rama Tut post credit separate from the Jake Lockley one for example. Maybe open ended - they could either act like they are setting up for next movie/series Kang (who would typically be defeated, leading to an exhaustion of seeing the character. Just a dash of spice for that "How many are there?" feeling idk 🤷♂️), or Council of Kangs akin to Fury gathering the Avengers. Give him higher presence everywhere, and a much more urgent feeling.
You're right. They're using this "joke" theme to make the audience see them in that light. We've seen it in Black Widow (woke Taskmaster), Thor: Love n' Thunder (Gorr isn't fully shown as the so called "God Killer" and Zeus at the ed cred literally spouts out how they ended up as a joke which is also seen as being self aware in the current direction MCU is taking), Wakanda Forever (Namor's servants question how embarassing Namor is treating the situation in the movie), and Quantumania (Kang gets plot nerf and is briefly defeated) etc.
So if they executed this correct, it means that the running punchline formula is about to end once Kang Dynasty happens. Although, I do agree with y'all that there were miss opportunities along with the inconsistencies.

This was one of the best ways to introduce Kang. Let him get beaten the first time, but show that he isn't out of the fight yet.

I feel like the whole point of seeing this Kang was that he WAS the weakest Kang, he was outsmarted and defeated, but even the weakest Kang was able to conquer a previously undiscovered world.

Johnathan Major was in a movie all by himself on his own, Michelle Pfeifer didn't know if she was in a comedy, drama, or sci fi, bill murray could have pulled it off but he's more of a cameo, which was a huge waste of that talent. Modok was the main character the movie shouldn't have been about.

Deliberately putting the story telling in disarray.
Think about it, if they'd just made a few new movies, introduced new avengers, a new Avengers movie that introduced Kang, a story arc that's completely vanilla and, after Thanks, unoriginal.
Wouldn't that cause the MCU to just fade away? "More of the same?"
But if you _deliberately_ faded and scattered the story telling, get people to become dispirited and disheartened, and _then_ do something like this, that night peak people's interest again.

I know the scene is to make Kang be intimidating. But asking someone if he killed him before, is kinda dumb. He knows he would be a different variant. Dude is supposed to be smarter than this.
