- I came across this video of The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens while browsing on Facebook and shared it to my timeline there and not finding it on CZcams found a way to upload it. One of my favorite of all time. I love the synchronized singing by all the singers included the young lady with the high notes.
I get goosebumps when I hear Kelly sing all those glorious high notes. She is magnificent !
She sings it better than Anita did.

I agree! The ladies name is Anita Darian. What a fabulous voice. She passed away February, 2015. What a loss!

I have heard the various performances , including the original , but Kelly managed to put a ethereal dimension on that bridge and she looked like she was having the time of her life as they all were , kudos to the orchestra as well for putting out a Powerful foundation and not overpowering Jay and the tokens , and also looking like they were enjoying the mini jam session after the rendition of wimoweh .

No one ever sang it like the Tokens. I have the original 45rpm. I was 5 when it was released. I used to be able to sing the soprano part. Those were the days of great music. ❤❤❤. It gives me goosebumps. Perfect performance 💜💜💜👏👏👏👏👍

Best thing on the Internet! When I was in 8th grade at Molima Middle School in Thousand Oaks, California I was in chorus and in one of our school performances, our teacher, Mr. Rose, sang the high note and the rest of us were the background. It was the MOST fun performance I ever did!!!! 😊

I think this song was the first 45 rpm record I bought and I wore the grooves off and had to buy another one. It brought tears to my eyes to see this performance and you ALL sound exactly the same ( if not even better! )than the record. THANK YOU!!

Totally astounding, vocals. How someone keeps their voice like that for so long is just amazing. And the female back up vocalist, sings as high as Whitney Houston’s mother saying when she sang back up for Aretha. Great job all around really moving.😊

My Aunt along with my mom and dad raised me on this music. Aunt Barbara you've gone on to heaven now, but I want to say I love you and I miss you. I heard a radio DJ say many years ago that this was the most requested song year after year. That was probably in the 80's or 90's.
Brilliant performance.
Kelly is more than amazing, she is from Mars Pennsylvania and interestingly enough, my wife and I went there in 2007 as I did sign painting with a group of artists. I wish I had known then I would have painted a trick logo for her. Oh and every time I listen to this video I hear her soprano and my heart melts, it is too bad she did not get more camera time.
