  • The pro-Palestine protests on the Evanston campus are calling for Northwestern to divest in Israeli interests, but some Jewish students say antisemitism has been on the rise on campus, and fear this may exacerbate it. CBS 2's Sara Machi reports.

Because Jewish students have been attacked at every one of these campus "gatherings". Pay attention and quit gulping down the propaganda.

Israeli journalist Gideon Levy: 3 principles that enable Israelis to live in peace with the occupation: 1. Most believe they are the chosen people, so they think they have the right to do whatever they want; 2. There were more brutal and longer occupations in history than the Israeli occupation, but there was nowhere where the occupier presented himself as not only the victim but the only victim; 3. and this is the most dangerous, is the systematic dehumanization of #Palestinians, so you can do whatever you want with them.

"Feeling safe" is an impossible standard to meet - it is a subjective opinion. What is important is that students ARE safe. It is absurd to send in storm troopers every time some student is confused about their hurt feelings. These protests are mostly peaceful, the protesters are not attacking anyone, they are the ones being attacked. Netanyahu and AIPAC are agitating for fascist tactics against these students, which is ironic because I remember a time when Israel wasn't such a big fan of fascism!

Some do not feel safe because of a real safety issue, but because their position (support of Israel) is being criticized. I am not saying there are no real safety issues. However, the lack of feeling safe is psychological 80% of the time.

Because Israel's government is threatening to use its worldwide connections and identity/recognition software to mass-blacklist anyone who protests against their policies and people would like to make that harder for them to accomplish. U.S. media is weak and buying into the narrative that "protesting a government policy = bigotry".
