Ever wondered what makes Royal Marines training so hard? here's an insight into the challenges that await you after your PRMC.
That girlfriend tip.. đđ already binned her off. Great info.
Gota be cruel to be kind đ
Hahahaha
One of the best videos explaining what the training is actually about, it's being able to dig out blind when it's all going wrong when your cold, wet and miserable and all you want to do is sleep, and not giving in. The training is longer than in my day but the result is still the same, wearing the green beret, nobody can take that away from you, it was the proudest day of my life when I first wore my beret on the passing out parade. In fact that beret is sitting in my wardrobe now and I passed out in 1971and I still miss the comradeship of being a member of an elite organisation. So for those who are thinking about joining, go for it, it isn't easy it's not meant to be, but the feeling when you pass out you will remember for the rest of your life. From a seventy-year-old ex bootneck .
Brilliant stuff Keith thank you mate! I will never forget the day I passed out. Massive respect to you Royal.
Massive respect sir.....hoping to be part of the Elite soon
Green lid is the goal, and I'll get there!
Yes mate!! Tunnel vision on that mate!
This is the best and most candid account I've seen.its nothing to do with fitness it's the sleep deprivation and pressure that is the crux
Big compliment that, thank you mate!
@@CompleteCommando yes good channel it takes me back 35 years fun times
As the mum of a recently passed out RM this is bang on. Prospective nods should watch this as it gives insight into what to expect beyond the Phys. It's not the fastest or the fittest, it's the most determined. And in RT, EVERY troop is the worst troop ever!
Brilliant, thank you Sarah! Think The Marines is harder on the mums then the sons!
Brilliant stuffđ.
Brilliant thanks Sam
This is so spot on mate, love it!
Thank you mate!
Inspirational man no pain no gain
Excellent video well worth watching.plus spot on too. Good to see nothing changed .I'm 1980 vintage but still all true then and now.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks Mark. The good old days đ
The over thinking of carrying weight and the time trial stipulations has the potential to be counter productive. Follow the basic tuition for performing individual exercises from the PTI staff and train to complete the necessary criteria. The rest is just a matter of turning up and giving it your 100%. Itâs simple, you canât give more than that. Cold, tired, wet, uncomfortable and hungry? The only way to find out is to go through it. I have gone to that place many, many times. The difference is that within a Commando Unit you will do it with a smile on your face. This is 100% true. I never went a day in the Corp without having an absolute gut wrenching laugh, regardless of what, or where I was doing it. The lads you meet through your career are a rare breed. I have ditâs that are difficult to spin to even some of my civvy mates as they are so unbelievable to them.
The best advice I ever had before joining my basic training was from the WO2 on the PRMC âmake sure that your heart is bigger than your headâ it soon made sense to me.
Starting training soon your videos are massive help thanks !
Great to hear mate! Stay in touch when you're in bud. đ
Hitting all the topics others overlook, great video!!
Thank you mate đ
Yes the training is certainly challenging, but you don't have to be a superman. I certainly wasn't. If you have the correct mental attitude and a big dose of determination you can do it.
I joined as a junior entry in 1961, and passed the commando course about 4 weeks after my 18th birthday. Served for a total of 10 years. Best decade of my life !!
100% Robin!
Thankyou mate đ
Great video mate ,well put together and explained
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video, thank you
Cheers.mate glad it's helpful
Very good Royal! Sleep deprivation was definitely the worst especially after night navex and having to do a route card before stand to and kit musters...urrgh!
Thank you mate appreciate that đ
great video
Ayup Royal. Thatâs proper hard to go on video and say the stuff the way you didđGood effort. Itâs so hard to stand up and speak in what is an alien tongue to most civvies, but be able to explain it so they can actually relate to it. I think thatâs exactly how the Corps should be trying to sell itself more, lads/lasses want to hear real life as well as see the new CZcams Commando videos. (As hoofing as they are) All young people do due diligence as a matter of course compared to years ago. They want to know the gen, and as Gucci as the phots etc are, thereâs only a small amount of people that join without caring what the lifeâs like, most have a plan these days, and if they get to see this I think theyâll get it budđ
Hi Richard, thank you very much for that chuck up! Really appreciate that, it means a lot! đ
i passed out in 2010 and i definitely was jealous of civies walking about haha. lymstone blues were my biggest challenge. keep up the good content Royal
Haha I passed out the same year mate. 24th September. I hated Civvies for years..even my nan
Great video lad currently week 18 and always enjoy hearing its worth it in the end haha
Good effort mate! 100% worth it! Nothing worth having is easy to get. Once you pass out that's when the cool stuff begins! đ
Did you pass out with the green lid?
Mate, I have my vpjft soon, and your videos are really helping to get an insight on the life and mindset. Cheers
You pass it ?
@@claireharbottle7434 yes, I got a strong pass.
you made it in?
Hows it going
That sounds so interesting.
Thanks mate
Amazing video
Cheers bro

Well articulated. Canât wait to start next month. Recently theyâve changed the pre entry requirements. You now do 4 weeks down there instead of prmc, 4th week is assessment week after which you commence 32 weeks training.
Thanks mate. Smash it mate, let me know how you get on. Yes mate ROP now, think it makes a lot of sense. Would you let me know what its like, would be interesting.
@@CompleteCommando Would assessment likely be a run through of the PRMC?

Did you make it

Iâm 24 and have been looking into the marines as itâs now or never ! I donât want to live in fear of myself . I feel like I need this structure and pressure, kick up the ass too .
Whats stopping you mate?
@@CompleteCommando itâs more just being anxious about the change even know itâs whatâs best ! I can be relentless but I have to much self doubt !
@@CompleteCommando the thought of being an underachiever and regretting all my decisions later on brought me to want to push my self beyond . But Iâve with no guidance potential can be pushed away .
I was 24 when I did my Commando training and I think it helped
Cant decide if I want to join 29 commandos or the royal marines both look amazing trying to get fit and prepared for training
What is it you want out of your career?
@@CompleteCommando to travel meet people get experience and learn from people
@@CompleteCommando I'm pretty sure I want to join 29 commando and go onto 148 battery because of the different experiences you can get.
What a garden!
Did you ever consider going SF while you were in the marines?
Good video, cheers. How fit were you going in to training?
Cheers bud. Yer very fit as I was boxing a lot at the time. I'd say mainly focus on getting really good at the basics: press ups, sit ups, pull ups and runs up to 3 miles long. Hill sprints are brilliant. Have a look at the Royal Marines training programme bud will massively help
After getting my lid i remember being happy but thinking it was an anti climax as I felt I could achieve an even higher goal. The training sets targets for you and then you smash the targets and then when you get your beret its done. I remember thinking I could do more now if they told me to.
I agree Paul
You clearly didn't go to Four-Five in the 90s.
It was harder than CTC.
It took me a year to reach the 'unit standard' and I was no biff!
@@JammyDodger45 I went to 45 in 2005 so not the 90s for sure. Troop phys was pretty cheeky no doubt. I also went to FPG and the phys there was no joke either lol. Anyway nice to hear an opinion from a fellow royal đ
@@Paul-dp6cm - I'm definitely not one of those who says "it was harder in my day", I reckon it's always been an intense experience.
Hopefully it's more scientific than brutal nowadays though.
@@JammyDodger45 even now when I look back and hear from others it's changed alot even since i was there. I started training in 2004 which was nearly 20 years ago now lol. 17 to be exact. Where does the time go lol
Hi mate started training for the Royal Marines properly at start of this year. Just wondering running wise is doing 1x 3miler and 2x 5 milers a week good enough or do I need to be doing more distance ect. Cheers mate great videos
Hi mate good stuff. I'd just keep your running really varied to start with mate. Anything from a mile and a half to 6 miles. Keep track of times and try and beat them regularly. Example would be:
Day 1: 1.5 mile best effort
Day 2: 6 miles @ 70% effort
Day 3: 3 miles @good strong pace
Sam Logan Fitness cheers mate thanks... keep up the great videos đđ»
@@adambamber9368 thanks dude
Train hard ,fight easy
Iâm waiting for my interview, I canât wait till I start basic training. Just wanted to ask do you think joining the Royal Marines at 28 going 29 is too late ?
Na not at all late mate go for it! Cut off is 32 for a reason đ
do a video of the Royal Marine payment during training and after.
Please đ
Sam Logan Fitness fr tho đ. Do you get your training money after you finished training or during?
Would you say 27/28 to old to join or crack on?
Not at all mate. I'm 30 and fresh as a daisy.
Can you join army commandos if you are already in the army but want to be commando trained ?
Yes. You can't become an Army Commando directly you have to already be in and have completed all Basic and Trade training.
Being able to get on the Commando Course is another question though and its all down to which Capbadge you are.
Iâm certain on joining the Royal Marines , Iâm only 16 so Iâve still got a whole 2 years to train but Iâm really struggling to put on weight so I can gain muscle. Iâm 5â10 , 59kg and canât put on weight, any tips??
Eat more food mate.
@@CompleteCommando make sure it's good grub not too much fried junk. Beef chicken veggies ect drink lots of water
You are only 16, give it a couple of years and you will bulk up
I thought you only had 2 attempts at SF, have they changed it??
Think it's 3 mate
Pretty sure Ollie Ollerton said in his book that he passed 3rd time. But Iâm also sure that Andy McNab said in his book that he can remember being in a truck on the hills phase and there was a guy crying his heart out because he had failed again and this was his second attempt and that meant he couldnât come back.
When are the leave periods in commando training ??
Easter, summer, christmas
2 weeks easter, 3 summer, 2 christmas
In combat , all guys equal you must work as a team
100%
You only get 2 bites at the cherry. SBS selection. Two fails your out
Not strictly correct, if you're binned for injury it doesn't count as a strike against you.
If you live doing whatever you want, eventually youre a slave to your feelings. If you want freedom from all of that practice discipline.
Longest in the world. Thats a Hard claim :P.
Norway Kystjeger kommandoen ( KJK ) , tthey train witht Royal marine commandos. 12 Months Education before you are "approved" a operator.
Norwegian "Navy seals" MJK - Marinjeger kommandoen - 2 Years before you can be deployed and be a operator, same with FSK ( Forsvaret Spesialkommando ) Equal to SAS in UK.
Royal Marine commandos are good blokes, but dont say its longest in the world :D
I appreciate your comment, but I said 'basic training' within the Royal Marines there is many branches that take far longer to train for. Take the Mountain Leaders for instance. You do 9 months basic training, then you have to serve for (on average 2-6 years) then you do the Mountain leaders course which is 8 months long. From there you can deploy as a mountain leader.
I think he means of all the standard military branches, (not including the special forces)
Your not wrong, the Army does do that. And itâs fucking annoying.
Lympstone blues đ€ą
Horrendous
Oh come on I did it on one legđđđđđđđđđđđđBlood 709
