      With due respects to the Royal Marines, I prefer as a marching infantry regimental band a Brigade of Guards band. They have a matching beat which is unsurpassed!

      I'm just glad that I never had to serve in the Royal Navy in the battle of the Atlantic, either during The Great War, or the second.
      And I am also grateful that I never had to serve in the United States Merchant Marine during world war II.
      I would have never made it. You would have had to mop me up.

      It's a shame that drill is not a naval skill!

  • @spooksparanormalsociety4034

    Awesome band as always, such a shame the sloppy, unrehearsed shambles that marched in behind it let the side down.

    Kudos to HMRM band service, although the marching afterwards was rather ragged, the best were the VETS, the old showing the young how it's done, though as they progressed they licked themselves in shape. All the best thanks for the insight. Kiaora keep safe and all the best from NZ😷👍😷👍

    I'm a great fan of the Royal Marine band having served in the RN myself, but I find it sometimes disappointing when the camera focuses mainly on the band and not on the subject of the event which after all was the members of HMS Cambria's farewell march. As always a good turn out by all, just wish the coverage was a little more even.

      Hello Mike, I understand what you mean completely and although I do try to show both band and units behind, the aim of my CZcams channel is to primarily film Military Bands, therefore the focus in my videos is on the skilled musicians. I hope this is ok and thank you for the feedback!

    • @mikebowden4244

      Thanks for your reply I appreciate it. I didn't realize that the video was from a devoted military band channel, so my apologies to you and I now understand the point of the video. What caught my eye regarding the video was the fact that it was the RM band and also from Barry, as a child in the 40's-50's we would go to Barry by train to spend a day at the beach, so fond memories all round. So thank you.

    Why are they in their summer dress in January

    • @MilitaryBandsEverywhere
      @MilitaryBandsEverywhere  Před 4 lety +3

      I was wondering the same! Even though the winter sun was bright it was still only 4 degrees celsius!! I think the rules of Winter and Summer order differes slightly between services.

    • @oliverpoole7815
      @oliverpoole7815 Před 4 lety +4

      It was probably down to the other platoons on parade not being issued greatcoats so, in order to make the parade look uniform the band wore summer rig instead of their greatcoats.

    I love listening/watching these super Royal Marines Bands but I wish they didn't all contain Hearts of Oak/Life on the Ocean Wave which I get fed up with listening to - I know it is traditional but what a bore

    • @IanKemp1960

      Hearts of Oak is absolutely magic it can even make a cynical old fart like me, cry.

    • @MilitaryBandsEverywhere
      @MilitaryBandsEverywhere  Před 4 lety +3

      They are the Regimental marches for the Royal Marines and Royal Navy so every parade they will be heard going past the salute. The pieces are very traditional and hold strong affiliations with the regiments and their service personnel, past, present and future!
