    With the weather being so poor these past few months we have not had the chance to get out too try the latest flight controller upgrade to the DJI NAZA, however today we had some time and the weather to take out the F450 Flame Wheel and the DJI NAZA GPS out for a few test flights. DJI have managed to make the NAZA even better with the GPS Upgrade, the NAZA was always a great flight controller but somehow left users a little short in functions when placed alongside its big brother, the Wookong M (WKM). No way points, no position hold, no return to home or care free mode. DJI have answered these "short falls" and started to bridge the gap with the NAZA GPS Upgrade, as you will see in the video we tested the number one request from our customers, a RTH (Return To Home) function which would work when things get a little "interesting", this is the number one question we get from people looking to get into multi rotor flight, "does it have RTH". I hope the video answers that question about the RTH function. The RTH was tested from close high level flight, a long distance away and a low level activation of the RTH feature, each time the DJI NAZA GPS delivered the QuadCopter home to the take-off point within a meter and half!
    As with all the tests we do, the wind was keen to make an appearance today, it was not as strong as some of the other videos that have been posted here, however it was enough to keep the DJI GPS NAZA on its toes!
    As you might have guessed I was out alone flying today, so the camera work is not that great, and if you ever questioned how easy these systems are to fly, well..... I was flying one handed today between the NAZA GPS taking control, so with two hands and a GPS NAZA you will be up and flying in no time at all!

    Hi buddy, What TX do you use. I am thinking one has to use a Tx with more channels for Naza because RTH and altitude hold etc all are set on various switches which will use separate channels. Hence a normal 6 channel would not serve the purpose. Correct me please if am wrong.

If I take it to the local park, and use failsafe where will the drone fly to? And also, if I take the drone to a different park, will it fly to the previous failsafe location? Thanks, please reply soon

    • @BuildYourOwnDrone
      @BuildYourOwnDrone  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi, the home point is set when you connect the battery and gain full GPS lock, so if you were to fly in your back garden after a full GPS lock happened, walked down the road to the local park and had a fail safe or asked it to RTH you would find it in the garden, or on route to the garden if it ran out of power before it arrived. Always disconnect the battery and wait for GPS before starting another flight to be sure your drone will RTH in the right place :)

    Hello, I have a naza lite as well, and I recently had an instance where I activated return to home during a test and the quad began to fly in a toilet bowl pattern and the swirls got larger and larger and it soon became dangerous as it seemed to be going out of control and not where it was supposed to be going. What might have caused this? I had been testing previously on that same day and it was working fine. Could this have been because I took off before the gps might have had a chance to lock on home?

    • @BuildYourOwnDrone
      @BuildYourOwnDrone  Před 8 lety

      Normally the issue is with the compass not the gps, did you make sure it was calibrated and did not have any interference in the local area, power lines and alike?
      Also if the GPS puck is not held in place this can cause the issue if it moves a little in flight. There are instructions on the "how to stop the toilet bowl" in the manual. Sorry I did not have an answer to solve the concern you have, if you need any help please let me know.

    So a question. Ive read, and you showed, the 50% throttle alti hold. So, if I take off, and want a certain altitude, say 20 feet, I either have to quickly set it to 50% at the moment it gets there? And, can I have it higher, and then bring it down to 20 feet and place the throttle at 50? Whats the minimum height, can I jam it to 50%as soon as it gets even to 3 or 4 feet? Thanks man.

    • @robertrice5530
      @robertrice5530 Před 9 lety

      John Robertson You can put it into altitude hold whenever you want. It is pretty intuitive, but mine tends to want to go into hold even when I want to make slow altitude changes. I would prefer a switch for hold or some kind of indication so I know when it goes into or out of hold. I have been several hundred feed up and thought I was making a slow descent, but it was stuck in hold. I have to drop the throttle considerably to make sure it is coming down.

    • @johnrobertson7583
      @johnrobertson7583 Před 9 lety

      I've been flying a bit now, and have realized what you say. As far as descending, if you have manual instead of failsafe on your 3 pos switch, you get NO attitude OR altitude safety with 50% throttle.

    • @johnrobertson7583
      @johnrobertson7583 Před 9 lety

      Robert Rice That posting was from my smartphone, its a little tricky doing everything. As I was saying, Ive come across lots of info, and one of those facts is that you can, but its not recommended, use manual mode to fly the craft around, and in so doing you would have complete control of the throttle, there is no 50% safety hover. Some people set their radio up with a 2 position switch to override a 3 pos thats being used for GPS, Atti, and manual. The 2pos locks the 3pos out to RTH.
      I have a switch to mix Ail and Rudd, about 70 or 80% i think. That way I can make one-stick turns. I may play around with mixing Ail to Rudd instead, for my smaller quad, to give it snap turns. So it would be 100% rudd driving 75% ail.

  • @bmschulman
    @bmschulman Před 11 lety

    Set your receiver's failsafe to something other than zero throttle, otherwise if you lose RC signal the quad will go into failsafe and crash! You should be able to set the failsafe by some combination of the binding plug or (for 72 MHz radios) settings on the radio itself, depending on which receiver you are using. If you have equipment that doesn't allow a custom failsafe to be set I suggest you replace it because a quad always needs throttle. Check your manuals.

  • @thepecha7

    Hi, i recently received my quad and the radio transmitter with no instructions. I have NAZA V2 GPS but no idea really what does what although this video has cleared a few things up. BUT, how do i get the quad to return to home at the flick of a switch like you did? Did you have to program it to do that or did it come with that feature already installed. I have been looking over Google for hours and i'm getting no where! Any help would be appreciated.

    • @BuildYourOwnDrone
      @BuildYourOwnDrone  Před 8 lety

      +thepecha7
      You set the flight mode to failsafe on the last switch position or you can set RX failsafe to turn on RTH when you switch the radio off, to regain control just toggle flight modes between atti and gps. If you do enter RTH make sure you have the throttle above 50% when you take back control, or the craft will fall from the sky, not good! :)

    • @thepecha7
      @thepecha7 Před 8 lety

      Build Your Own Drone Thanks for the reply! So should the switch already have the RTH function set to it? I only ask as i have seen some guides where people have to hook up to the computer and mess about with settings ect. My quad did come RTF but like i said, with no instructions for the radio i am having a hard time here

    • @BuildYourOwnDrone
      @BuildYourOwnDrone  Před 8 lety

      +thepecha7
      On the setup page for the radio in the assistant software for the Naza you will see that there are flight modes you can select at the bottom, Atti / GPS and the last option is a drop down box, you can select this switch position to be either Manual (only use if you are an advanced flyer) Atti Or Fail Safe.
      That Last box is the one to change to have fail safe on the switch.
      Hope that helps some more.

If the drone starts to hold position without issue after a short time I wouldn't be to concerned about it. If it still continues to move around a lot you might've to adjust your gains and confirm your CofG is in the centre of the frame. Hope that helps you. Kind regards Martin.
