I made this turkey for Thanksgiving. Not only was it moist and juicy, but the flavor was so wonderful. It was a super big hit with the whole family. Thank you so much Rachel. All your recipes are always so wonderful.

Rachel!!!! I started doing turkeys this way 30 years ago. I would cook a thanksgiving dinner for a bachelor friend, deliver it to him as he sat down to watch football. It was a quick, healthy turkey, aromatic and moist! People don't realize how much the steam from the veggies preserves the breast! One of my brother's friends said that the roasted veggies from the inside were her favorite part! I never researched this, just did it because it made sense. EPIC FLAVOR!!!

I hadn't made a Thanksgiving luncheon for my family in probably two years. This year I made it early and used the method you showed us and my goodness. The turkey was so tender not dry at all and the butter mix. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼 I told my son, all these years I've been putting the turkey in the plastic bag and I could've just let it out. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 And bought a thermometer it truly did make a difference. Thank you for your time. Thank you Jesus for giving you the mind to teach and be thorough with your instructions.

Great recipe Rachel. I don’t baste my turkey. My father was an excellent cook. We used an aluminum foil tent. The steam cooked and was so juicy. No basting. Also, cooked it at 375 degrees for 20 minutes a pound. Came out beautifully. I love the apples and all the herbs you use in it. I’m going to try it.

Basting every thirty minutes, especially if you do not remove the bird and close the door, causes the heat in the oven to go way down and have to build back up again. I prefer having the heat remain as steady as possible, even if that means only basting once. I always take the bird totally out and close the door as quickly as possible. Furthermore, all the luscious butter mixture under the skin acts as a kind of constant basting, thus decreasing the need for basting a lot while roasting.
Except for the above, this method looks delicious and I am going to try it a month from now!! Thank you Rachel!!

TYSM for this video Rachel...my mom recently recommended this and my iteration was a hit at Friendsgiving! This was my first execution of a whole turkey and I was initially anxious, but your step-by-step tutorial made the process easy and enjoyable from start to finish. The addition of citrus in the butter and apple in the cavity elevated the taste and provided some additional moisture for the roasting process.

I'm also watching you with this turkey. It's been several years since I baked one. Rachel, you have no idea how much you help people by teaching them how to cook, but you also give them the cooks knowledge that comes from years of cooking skills. God bless you! Wonderful cook and baker. 👍👍

That does look delicious, however I make a sausage stuffing and I put it in the bird because I just love the way the stuffing comes out from the drippings of the bird. It's just not the same in a separate pan which I also do with the extra stuffing that doesn't fit in the bird. I also use an oven cooking bag from Reynolds. Which makes it so easy you don't have to baste it because it self bastes in the environment of the bag.

Tengo hambre.....lol! Oh dear amiga, I love your beautiful turkey. And thank you as you've given me two new ingredients for our turkey. I make the herb butter just like you but you added the paprika which I've never done and also never had thought of using apple in the cavity with the rest of the veggies. Now I make the herb butter for the bird but it's my vegetarian who makes the turkey. Yes ma'am, my Johnny excels at making turkey or grilling up the perfect steak or bar-b-que. That is just a bonus for me when I met him. This Thanksgiving we'll be ordering out for lunch as we're saving making the big meal for Christmas which has turned out to be a blessing for me as I didn't realize it was going take this long to heal from dental surgery. Finally feeling better and am now transforming the house into Christmas without worrying about cooking on Thursday. May this week produce extra special blessings and love for you and your Ron. You are among the biggest blessings that has happened to me this 2020 and this truly makes my heart smile. Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

Hambre!! Lol!!! Aww my friend, what a nice thing to say!! You have been a real blessing to me too, paprika can be smoked paprika too, I like the color and taste the turkey gets, be generous with your salt, turkeys need it and don't over cook it😘...your morning devotional posts every day have been something I look forward to, and you are a prayer worrier that has been a blessing to me and so many too...you are blessed with your Johnny who is so good to you, and you are a real blessing to him, your devotion and loyalty is amazing...this year has been like no other, but one thing that stays the same is our Lord, He is always faithful and true, our ways are not His ways, we march forward with Thanksgiving in our hearts because He lives... my Ron and I will spend it alone together this Thanksgiving, we will celebrate Thanksgiving as always, it's all good, the best is yet to come...I'm glad you are healing and feeling better, so you can enjoy that special meal on Christmas...you are a blessing to me too this year 2020, thank you, enjoy, be happy and healthy.❤

This is almost exactly what I do! I put some of the sage, rosemary and thyme in my butter. But I haven't used an orange! Trying it this year.
