Honestly the way those two grow over time is just amazing. Ky went from 'This man is mocking me, I must defeat him' to 'This man is a broken man, I will help him' Sol went from 'This kid is annoying me, get out of my sight' to 'This man has some resolve, I'll give him that' I'm calling it, the very last battle in GG (game-wise) will be Sol and Ky back in the old cathedral in paris (or it's ruins at least)
There's an actual "role reversal" that takes place between Revelator and Rev2 where it's not Ky who seeks to fight, but Sol who seeks to test himself against Ky, which is why the order of their quotes is changed from "Come with me/No choice" to "Let's go/Can't be helped".

Sol actually /trying/ against Ky, would end up with Ky as a bloody paste in the floor. Sol could've actually beaten I-No at the end of Strive had he not been turned back into a human. Ky was getting ragdolled, Dragon Install and all.

Also of course Ky didn't go all out since nobody goes 100 procent until they are going for intention to kill but that doesn't mean Ky can kill Sol with 100 procent. Ky has advantage of suprise however it's not like Sol was always going all out. He was holding back as well since we never seen him going with full killing intent against Ky. Furthermore if Sol wants to kill Ky, he is going to use DI which can easily kill Ky even if he plays dirty, so in conclusion Ky is still significantly weaker than Sol. Also Sol actually saw some dirty playing from Ky which took out the element of suprise, the only thing he had against Sol. I doubt next time if they fight again, that Sol is going to be that surprised like now even though Ky probably still has a lot to offer. Anyways have a great day.
These two are my favorite fighting game rivalry. You can just feel how much they have changed by simply looking at them interact to each other at the course of time.
To be fair, Ky was superstitious of Sol, because of how natural his powers came to him. Even if Ky impressed Sol with his fighting, Sol's fighting was also equally impressive!
Its more so that Ky could have always kicked his ass if he went against Sol like he did the other gears he fought, treating them like monsters and never giving them a chance to fight back. As seen in their last clash, he wouldn't even wait for Sol to get his bearings, just would go for the kill as quick as possible. All the other fights were more so just duels, testing each others skills
To be fair, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn replaced her in the English version, so it's not all bad. I'm sure an English voice to Japanese listeners sounds a lot more eloquent, so they're less picky about the quality.

Thing is Sol is much, much more powerful than Ky is and things started to even out just recently. And that's a ridiculous comparison, ability to fight melee doesn't translate to battle ability, as Asuka is obviously one of the most powerful magic users in the series. Sol himself failed multiple times to even harm him.

Man, kinda a shame we don't have any modern versions of young Ky. He was really an idealist brat, and Sol was justified in treating him like a kid. That makes it so much more gratifying how "boring" he is today. He mellowed out from becoming a father and king, but deep down there still is that headstrong brat, ready to throw himself at a god
OMG!!! Ky walked such a long way to reach Sol and as it looks like he FINALY is toe to toe with him!!! I mean, the sword exchaange at the end... EPIC!!!!
20 years of exchanges, there's bound to be some growth. Ky learned his own importance rather than obsess over settling a grudge over a stolen sword and pride as a knight. Meanwhile Sol has just begun to feel his limits as a warrior and needs to grow as a person.
Imagine join the order and then later steal a weapon (that you originally made) and then become wanted. GG 3rd and strive make Ky so over powered when the beginning of GG make Sol as the over powered one and mysterious bounty hunter with unexpected history.
I don't think it's an issue of either Sol or Ky being overpowered... they had their own limits back then, even facing the Gears. It's just that Ky didn't know his real potential, and neither did Sol.

@@MimebladeGMail I think you're missing the point. A player losing health before they can do anything to stop it is unfair in a fighting game. Ky could be a 5 year old and Sol could be a god and I still wouldn't call it fair for the Ky player to have lost health due to things outside their skill because of character lore. I didn't see Ky's health go back to full to negate the damage for a fair fight for the players, therefore it's just an unfair advantage for the Sol player.

You make a very strong argument in terms of Technique and Power being different categories. But Sol later admits that he would study technique under the Sacred Order if they invited him back, so he's not entirely uncouth. I'm actually concerned about Sol's fighting style now that he no longer has the Divine Seed (Flame of Corruption) in his body. He's probably lost a lot of power, at least compared to Ky's current strength.

I don't remember loosing it, it still have it, still immense power compared to KY, for ex look in Xrd when Axl stopped time, Sol goes full send with dragon install, KY would never do that, he never lost Divine Seed I think, and in Xrd Sol defeated all "bosses" and KY just stared (because he can't win against them)

Sol in canon doesn't age but based on Ky's ending in GG(PS1) Ky seems to de-age over the course of the games up to like 10 years younger in XRD lol
I'm pretty sure Ky aged well enough. He's 30 as of Xrd. Granted, graphic limitations on Xrd limit how he can be portrayed. So I think he looks as old as he needs to look in GGStrive.
Perhaps it's the (real world) Japanese curse. Takeshi has been his voice for 25 years now.

The first clash seems unfair, ky takes damage
In the Lightning the Argent Novel, when Ky clashes with Sol, Sol LITERALLY took the Thunderseal sword from him... for like, the whole novel.

A player losing health before they can do anything to stop it is unfair in a fighting game.
Ky could be a 5 year old and Sol could be a god and I still wouldn't call it fair for the Ky player to have lost health due to things outside their skill because of character lore.
I didn't see Ky's health go back to full to negate the damage for a fair fight for the players, therefore it's just an unfair advantage for the Sol player.

Funny enough people still think ky its catchin` up Sol,well not really,i really love Sol but,fair enough Ky evolved but still...Ky have an advantage over Sol in tehnique category but Sol its MUCH MUCH MUCH more powerfull and he didnt show his full power,look at Order Sol in acr,when you use Dragon Install with all moves and last move to destroy Ky or somebody else he lays down and stays there with a headache,when classic Dragon Install its gone again headache for a second or 2,i think he cant show his full power because he cant handle it,Ky will never have that kind of power,so in termes of brute force and power Ky has no chance whatsoever against Sol,even Order Sol who isnt powerfull as normal Sol and whithout fireblade can beat Ky and he did it in Lore (if im not mistaken) Overall i still think Ky dosent have a chance against Sol if Sol takes it seriously and go full send,if im not mistaken Ky cant beat Justice,Sol did it twice............anyway i still love Sol for his style and atitude
You make a very strong argument in terms of Technique and Power being different categories. But Sol later admits that he would study technique under the Sacred Order if they invited him back, so he's not entirely uncouth.
I'm actually concerned about Sol's fighting style now that he no longer has the Divine Seed (Flame of Corruption) in his body. He's probably lost a lot of power, at least compared to Ky's current strength.

I don't remember loosing it, it still have it, still immense power compared to KY, for ex look in Xrd when Axl stopped time, Sol goes full send with dragon install, KY would never do that, he never lost Divine Seed I think, and in Xrd Sol defeated all "bosses" and KY just stared (because he can't win against them)
