This is very helpful tutorial, worked like a charm. On unity 5, you will need to download 32 bit editor separately, however, on android, it just works with default settings. Kudos.

at 5:45 when I import Custom assets there is no Qualcomm AR option into it.

For some who cannot make the camera work, here is the trick :
- Install Unity 5.1.0 as Editor 32 bit (go to the Unity Archive)
- Execute Unity as administrator
- Recreate a project with this unity version

I did everything like in your video, but have a problem. Imported "image target" from vuforia, but in Unity its look like white frame (my image did not displayed). Also your tracker displayed like white frame to.

I got it to work but for some reason I can't see the model unless the camera is very close to the target image as in 10cm away from it. The model is also looking a little glitch with parts becoming transparent when they're not suppose to be. Does anyone know why this is?

First of all thanks for the tutorial series. I have a question that in this case I think that although we are moving the tracking image by our hands but it remains stationary in Unity scene and it seems that the AR Camera is moving.
What I want is as I move the tracking image by my hands. I want the 3D object placed on the image to move along with it in the 3d space.

the object uv is maped to target texture, you paint the target texture so the object texture is painted too...

+Jaspreet Singh of course it's possible, but not using Vuforia plugin. Other approaches are needed, but I'm not sure which one would be compatible and perfect for Unity3D. In unity asset store there are some face tracking plugins, but I would search for a better solution.

I used Unity5.1.0 (32 bit) with latest Vuforia 5-5-9 and followed this video but unfortunately, when I installed the app in my phone, the screen starts only until Powered by Unity and screen goes black (the camera won't start). Anyone else have the same problem?
PS-Phone is Samsung Galaxy Android ver 2.3.6.

Your tutorials seem to be very complete but .. without audio.. and starting totally from scratch like me.. seems quite complicated.
I am starting from zero. Never made an app before.. I come from VIDEO and I want to create an APP where you go round a room and some pictures act as target for some models. No interaction o so but the models will be animated. I have a 3D guy that will make the models for me. Here is what I understand generally speaking...
Install UNITY
Register in VUFORIA
Insert TARGETS in VUFORIA
Download custom made addon with my targets in
Edit targets positions and size
Import 3D models (what format? How to keep animation loop info?)
Then export the APP (???)
How to test it locally ?
How to publish?
As you can see my questions are GENERAL... I think we need to understand something about the general process before getting into details of the softwares... How licensing system works, how testing an app works, what happens when an app is compiled (??) and how you can actually make it available online.
Or.. if this tutorial is for app-developers only.. just tell me please... before I get crazy trying to get it.

I hope my answer can still help you: Before you start making Augmented Reality Game, try first making simple apps/games with Unity and learn from online tutorials. They will go over the basics of the Android SDK and debugging with your own smartphone. Then, after a few days intensive learning, start building AR apps. All the general things will come naturally and integrating VUrofira will be much easier.

Ya I was playing around with Augmented Reality in Flash CS3 , and CS4 about 7 years ago .

Flash was way ahead of it's time , and was able to do most of this stuff.

firsttime i hv problem with camera profiles, so i modified ..\Assets\Editor\QCAR\WebcamProfiles\profiles.xml. pls add one profiles, u just copying other as similar ur cam.
example :

+Ronaldo Guedes there are some requirements what minimal size of the image can be tracked with vuforia, try to find it in vuforias website, can't remember it right now, but it is really difficult to track 4x5 cm cards on smartphones as I needed.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial and congratulations. I played the app and it starts normally, but at the time point the camera to the model I can´t see it completly, the screen becomes white and blured . If I change the position I can see normally and even the legs of the model, but I can`t see it completly. Please, can you help me?
Rafael Domiciano I think the solution is quite simple, try to change the scale of the model, it is probably too big, decrease it :). Tell me if that solved the problem.
All is perfect, but when I build the game for Windows it just shows a black screen and the camera never shows. I've heard that Vuforia does not support Windows build (only Android or iOS). Is there any way to fix this problem?
Export Android apk, start this apk using Bluestacks.

+Nick Joosten In my version, the folder is called "Vuforia" instead. You can go to the "Prefabs" folder from there and find the "ARcamera" and "ImageTarget."

Hi, Edgaras Art, I found a problem, and I do not know if it is from the unity versión. After I set up the whole project, without any reason, I press play and the software goes down. I am working on mac mountain lion. My unity versión is the 5.3.1p1.
After a lot of time and reads, I found that newer versions of Unity does't work well after you add image tracker to the scene, ao I did downgrade the app. I am trying it from my isight build-in. And when I conect an external cam it doesn't seem to work. If you can help me, I'll appreciate it!

KEO NG I use external camera Logitech c920 and integrated laptop cameras without any issues and I am not making any other configurations.

May i ask do you have any clip that can show similar functions? ( i had read not all, but most your clips and had been your online student already ahaha,) you have a clip is about download the Android ulitmate plugin for working with 3 buttons (the camera, share and close).
But it's not able to be found now. and in that clip it's no showing the plugin script, so i don;t know how to do too...

Ninjahansla I'm actually not sure, but could you please send me a screenshot of this problem to my email: himixlt@gmail.com I will look into it. You also mentioned that tracking is probably good, but model does not appear, make sure that model is moved to imageTarget in the Hierarchy section. It is shown from 9:43 (model must be inside imageTarget).

Yeah, I've asked the Vuforia Support about it, and 3 days ago they just E-mailed me saying that I should try to log in again because they've made my account "available for login" again, and it finally worked!
