Hi Guys - it's DAVID thank you so much for the video and the recognition, missing Phil, Balloon Chaser, Le Pub & Robin Hood so much back in UK now 😭😭😭 Yes your video was great and we had a great chat with Ballon Chaser about the old Balti Triangle in Birmingham - was a regular Friday Night Visit - most restaurants were open until 2PM so a great way to round off a night after R&J's or Snobs in town (other nightclubs were available).
The Balti Triangle was based in Sparkbrook around Stoney Lane, Ladypool Road and Highgate Road area. Our Favorite Balti Restaurant was The Royal Al Faisal on Stoney Lane. The Balti dishes were brought straight to the table from the stoves, so were all a black metal 2 handled proper Balti Dish - BALTI = BUCKET translation as per your video - plus on a normal table for 6-8 people you had a KARAK NAAN which was almost as big as the table itself and your tore off pieces of Naan, scooped up the Balti and ate it that way. Chips were NOT on the menu, all the local Balti's just served indian food - you could get different starters to have such as Shish Kebabs and Samosas if you could manage it...If you asked for cutlery you got blank looks - as if you were a posh git from Solihull...
A traditional Balti serving dish would be about 10 inches across and 6 inches deep - so portions were quite big!!!
Thanks again for a great video - will have to try the Monday Night Special at Robin Hood when next there - also the Steak & Guinness pie was BRILLIANT!
I think it was great seeing you 2 making the video together - like a real good comedic duo - maybe modern day Chuckle Brothers (or a version of Hinge & Bracket but not in drag) maybe you could link these to Ballon Chaser's channel as well??? Only thing missing for balance was a traditional Brummie with the Blues Top on...maybe next time!! KRO and as Phil says SOTV!!!

Thanks, David. An absolute pleasure to meet you and your wife while you were in Thailand.
You are indeed a very knowledgeable chap, in fact I'd have had a lot less to say about Baltis had I not spoken to you beforehand!
The only question in my mind, after acknowledging your expertise, is how in the world you ended up following a third division football team from Small Heath? 😅

In Leicester, also known for its Indian population, the curry of choice would be either the vindaloo for the drunkies, or the chicken tikka masala. The tikka masala is also a British dish originating in Scotland when a maverick Indian added a tin of tomato soup to a curry. I had an Indian meal last year in pattaya and it wasn't a bit like a good old Midlands curry.

On one of the few occasions I have visited Birmingham I went into a pub near New Street station late in the evening after the work was done and before catching a late train home in London. I stood at the bar having a pint when suddenly, bold as brass, a Brummy with his two sons in tow walked up to me at the bar and grabbed my nuts. That incident has formed my take on the West Midlands ever since. I will tell you the rest of the story when I drop-in at Le Pub.

Great entertaining stuff as usual guys. Now i'm an essexboy and bucket person. Surely a balti should be bubbling with stacks of naan bread and where did those chips come from, no way. Bet Mr. Robin Hood is not a brummie.
