Over-coaching, too much focus on statistics and analytics. Leads to over-thinking. Football will always have random outcomes. The best way to deal with that is to use instinct. So it's important to get the right balance.

After a 5th place in 2020 Slot arrived.
Feyenoord was in the worst state it had ever been.
So broke that the club had to sell their captain and topscorer to their long lasting and bitter rival Ajax.
Together with Frank Arnesen he started a new building proces.
Imagine starting at a club being able to spend no more than 1,5 million for a player.
Together with Arnesen they brought in players that were on loan.
With that group they reached the Conf.L final.
After that season the players on loan left and key players were sold.
Again a new building proces started and again players on loan came in adding some young boys from the dutch championship.
And this season it became obvious the style of play remained the same even with 70% of the players being new.
As one of the poorest club they went on to win the Dutch league with their given nickname at the start of the season "The Foreign Legion" it was meant sarcasticly but it became legendary.
This season Feyenoord is still on the same track as it was last season however PSV went on a buying spree and for now they only lost once having a tally of 31W-27D-3-1L/ G 103-17
With 3 matches to go wich is insanely good.
I hope Liverpool goes for Mourinho and Arne stays at my Feyenoord🙏

Seriously though, let’s please not do that. My point is many of the big names out there have been tarnished a bit so for teams to get what they want maybe they’ll have to get lesser known managers.
It’s a bit disappointing because it doesn’t feel like this was our first choice, despite what Liverpool may say. Seems they wanted Alonso but he didn’t take the job, and they’ve moved on from Amorim. I’ve seen things suggesting Amorim may have overstepped his bounds a bit asking for too much.
I’ve also heard people say this is a good fit because his style is similar to Klopp. Ok it may be exciting but will it win PL titles? As good as Klopp has been he’s won one PL title. That is partly because they’ve gone up against maybe the best team in history, but still.

Arne Slot is more similar to Hiddink as a character and in terms of play he is similar to Klopp, Guardiola, whereby he stands for a certain type of football instead of being a tactician. He believes in super solid defences with high pressing, high intensity and very attractive, attacking football. He excels in quickly inspiring and guiding his players to be the very best version of themselves, while preserving harmony among the players on and off the pitch. LFC cannot be compared with ManUnited as LFC always plays for the big trophies and therefore Slot can build on an existing strong structure. Every club tends to sell appr 4 to 5 main squad players to the better leagues in the summer as it is part of the business model. Therefore it gained it's image it has until this day as one of the best leagues to develop talents. The key is how to invest the money made correctly. This was done absolutely horrendous by Ajax due to lack of people on managerial positions and internal struggles in the board. EtH leaving the club has nothing to do with that as he was gone long way before that all started.
Ah and to give you some more insight. Slot had to rebuild a squad after his first season at Feyenoord reaching the conference league final with 15 (!) outgoing players in the summer. There are never a lot of top managers available. Especially when you want someone that could be at the club for a long time as Liverpool seem to want, and which seems wise also given their squad. So called top coaches like Conte, Tuchel or Mourinho never last more than two years and all they want is to buy big name players. Nagelsmann somehow has a big name, but not a great history of winning trophies, and at the one big club he managed he was out after a very short time. There are only a few managers who have been at top clubs for a long time to build something. Klopp is one, Pep another, Arteta becoming one, Simeone, and that is it really. None of those obviously are available. And they hardly ever are, because they stay at one club for a long time.
De Zerbi and managers like that have build a name at smaller clubs with unknown players. Brighton is in the PL, but Feyenoord is a much bigger club with more history and a very big fan base and media scrutiny.
