If you’re watching this video, please know that this was one of my first few mods. My soldering is awful in this video and if you watch one of my more recent mod videos, you’ll see that my soldering and skills have gotten much better. Also, my methods are wrong and don’t use denatured alcohol. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you
Great upgrade! I don't have balls to do that with my PD36R. I play with Convoys so far, it is easy, and if i make mistake its cheap. Thank you for awesome video sir 🙏🏻
Ya I love modding convoy lights. Such a breeze and parts are readily available. This was one of my first mods and I do things completely different now. I should probably take my pd36r apart and redo lol because my early mods were timebombs
@@marcgossling8260 I cut some rubber off a strap wrench and uses it to protect a flashlight when using two vice grip locking pliers. Sometimes the teeth still cut through the rubber. Sofirn has heaps of glue too on the head to keep water out. 🥵
So the SFT40 now has 3 Kelvins you can get 5000, 5700, 6500. I really hate 6500 cool white. So I bought a whole bunch on crap weller soldering Iron, heat plate, etc.. I hate olight but I like the Warrior mini 2. not the 3. anyways I just did my first emitter swap from sst40 cool white. to SFT40 5000k (LOVE IT)! Thanks buddy you got me going.. now get some new content up! ;)
great tutorial, what soldering station are you running if you dont mind? just ordered a hakka 951 for this but i noticed you said you like youre temp at 850 but the 951 maxes out at 840
Yihua 939d. This video is when I first started and my soldering is horrible. I’d recommend watching my convoy L8 mod video with the sbt 90.2 clone led as I show how to properly solder. I use about 700-710 degrees now and make sure to use lots of flux and tin your tip. What light are you thinking about modding?
I had to max the volume in order to hear you whisper. You put way too much solder paste. A quarter of what you put is enough. Don't tap the LED like that, tap the edge, the white part.
This was my 2nd reflow and it was quite a while ago. If you’d like to see better mod videos I’d recommend watching a mod I’ve done more recently. Thank you for watching and your criticism

Nice work! Getting a flashlight open is sometimes half the problem when doing an emitter swap.
Thanks Tim. Luckily that’s my only fenix flashlight lol.

@@TorchHacker that’s a great idea. Thank you tim

@@marcgossling8260 will do, I have a few Acebeam L series and a collection of Hank lights that I want to do some swapping with
Best of luck. Let me know how it goes and feel free to ask me questions
how did you release the glued front part
A lot of heat, rubber ratchet straps and channel locks. I ended up scratching the hell out of it 😢
are we talking 200 to 300 °C of °F???
