This video is a bone fide treasure. Thanks a million for posting it! It contains the only known footage of her singing “live” as far as I know-a quartet with Melchior, Branzell, and Tibbett, and a short scene from the 1951 Dido and Aeneas with Teyte. Her singing was TOTALLY EFFORTLESS. Is there a better sounding copy of this video? This copy has consistent static and noise throughout, which is a shame. There is a silly Hollywood movie of her performing Ho-jo-yo-ho, but of course it is dubbed/lip-synced as were all music numbers at that time
The greatest Wagner Soprano, ever! She was able to sing a forte in a piano, how I call it! This makes also Wagner so difficult to sing, power. And her deep tones, incredible. Her perfect jumps from very high notes to low notes. And so on
This documentary about Kirsten Flagstad was broadcast on NRK (Norwegian national broadcaster) on the occasion of Kirsten Flagstad's 100th birthday in 1995. The documentary broadcast in February 1995 was approximately 58 minutes long and it seems that the length of this CZcams version includes about 13 minutes of silence at the end.

Marvellous. Thank you.
I had no idea any film footage of Flagstad singing Purcell's Dido existed. Is this the only surviving filmed extract from that production?
