There probably could have been a happy middle ground for The Silver Cord, but as is, it's a choice between a scant version and a bloated version.

Y'all know this is just my opinion, right? - Hudba
By the time Taylor Swift has rerecorded all her albums, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will have released 9 more albums.
By the time you read this she'll have made more money than everyone in the comments in their entire lives.
@@OuterGalaxyLounge She won't give you any of it
@@OuterGalaxyLounge hypercapitalism (taylor's version)
yeah and they all suck
@@OuterGalaxyLoungeCombined
Without fail, you always find a way to find my favorite song on any given LP and label it as your least favorite.
Yeah, Set has been on repeat for me. Amazing.
hey, same. the last one was cinema by kkb
Same every song I like off of any album he reviews he hates lmao
I thought Gilgamesh and Swan Song are the best tracks I like the rap stuff, Ambrose has the voice for it. Also on Chang’e I love the way the vocals all wrap around each other
set is mid at best, or maybe it would be better if not following a very strong opening.
The greatest thing about this band is, if you don’t like their latest album, you don’t have to wait long for a new direction.
Lol yeah the bros legit just dropped a prog metal album and a techno album in the same year 💀
Idk i want 12 bar bruise 2
Too bad they're mostly average on everythijng they do
Great to see the Lizard Wizard teaming up with King Gizzard!
They do great together, hope they collaborate more often. One or two more albums would be cool.
actually exactly what i thought when i first checked out nonagon
They'll do a negative number of albums when the two groups are breaking up from each other
*wipes tear from eye* It's a beautiful time to be alive
This could be the arrival of the new Simon & Garfunkel
the extended version is the real album imo. the "normal" version for me is a 6/10 but the REAL album is a 9/10.
Same
I've been calling the normal version "Short Chan'ge" and the extended version The Silver Chord
100% agree
It's interesting. King Gizzard made the short version first. Then the full length one when they enjoyed jamming
Yeah, i feel like they just weren't confident here. The short version aren't as good.
i honestly can’t think of a band that’s been so prolific and still consistently doing something interesting, it’s one thing to make a lot of the same sound but they’re a whole different beast
I'd say the only band I know that comes close is Spoon
an altered beast
Osees
guided by voices
What’s also crazy is how consistently good their albums are. Sure there are personal preference and favorites among fans and casual listeners. But objectively, they haven’t made a single album that’s universally panned as “the bad one”, like most bands at a certain point have all made.
The fact they’ve released so many albums and not one is objectively bad is almost scary!
It’s ridiculous how good they are.
Ironically the three songs you mentioned as your least favorable: Set, Gilgamesh, and Swan Song are my favorite 3 on the album. They go so hard. It’s neat to have unique opposing perspectives on the same LP. As others have mentioned, it is smart to pair the short versions of the songs you dislike with the extended mixes of the ones you do like, it’ll all still flow together. You can see everything you can be in the music that way.
same here, set gilgamesh and swan song are my top 3
Swan Song extended version is the most fun to listen
Slay the mighty set, slay the mighty set
had a dream you said this was horrible and gave it a light four, so this was a pleasant surprise
The cool thing about this album and the complaints that Fantano has, is that you can literally make a playlist consisting of the longer ones you like, and add only the shorter versions you don't (Like Set for example). I know he probably means more like a 6 ish minute version of these songs instead, but I feel like the band specifically did what they did for the express purpose of giving fans the options of choosing which version you like to listen to more, whether thats the longer ones, or the shorter ones.
I did literally this, switched out set and theia for the short versions, kept the long versions of all the other tracks. It's perfecto~
except some songs like the title track and Gilgamesh have little things at the start that mess up transitions if you mix and match standard and extended mixes
I did not expect to love this album as much as I did. I got way too emotional when they started exultantly singing "Motor Spirit" in Theia. Also my hair stood on end when I heard "The Eye Dilates; The Air Gyrates...etc." The psychedelia of it all left my brain feeling like a fried egg. Very impressive music. I am inspired with their creativity and lack of boundaries :)
Dude yes!!! The gate in the skyyyyyyy. I was 100% at its mercy. That shit got me real good.
Antknee looking like a Lego City thief with that hat.
🤌
That fool really said Change
It feels like he wouldn't have really listened to it carefully at that point since the band repeats the name multiple times in the song.
He must be really into that Jane Remover album huh
he said it's coming this weekend
@@lauens Aw man but I want my opinions validated right now :(
@@lauensFINALLY when did he say that
@@shayshayshayshayshayshayshay as a reply to someones comment under a insta post of him
@@lauensdo you know when he's doing the new Knower record? I vaguely remember him saying he was about to do it a week or two ago
for me the core album is a 6, but the extended versions are a light 8, i feel i’m given so much more time to get into the grooves they’re experimenting with in the longer ones and they get to mess with the rhythms in such unique ways on the extended tracks
The same numbers I’d give them. TSC extended as a song is one of my favorite king gizz tracks ever though
No doubt about that, I'm not super enamored with the extended Set (to me it doesn't vary nearly enough to warrant being 2.5 times the length of the regular version) but the rest of the extended versions are pretty big upgrades over the regular versions. My first listen to the regular album I was a little disappointed, but the development of the soundscapes and rhythms of the extended versions definitely make the album feel a lot more complete
@@odrithingamajig after my first listen of the standard album i was sure it would be my first negative rating for a kglw album, tho the standard has improved just by listening to the extended over and over again. would’ve been curious to see what the reception was like if just the extended versions got released
Please review C.B.A. from Kollegah
Review Kollegah's album C.B.A. please.
Kollegah cba Review pls
Please review Kollegah CBA. Its just too good
This band is like 5% of your videos at this point
As a massive KGLW fan I'm not really big on this album after the first few listens but damn the extended version of The Silver Cord is amazing and has some of my favorite Gizz moments in general (the drum and bass part with vocals at 9:44 primarily) Just some god tier sounds
Agree
Yea I never even listened to D&B, but I love it in that song. Favorite of the album by far.
We need an review to cba by Kollegah please he released an album in english
they actually released 5 albums last year, forgot made in timeland, which was also a full electronic record
nah, there was that acoustic guitar break in smoke and mirrors. that's my favorite part.
Made in Timeland isn't fully electronic, they play the ocarina on it for crying out loud
Please review C.B.A (The english Album) from Kollegah
25 goddamn albums man shit is crazy with how consistently quality they are
Just insanely creative and talented people that just want to explore any genre they want lol
It really is crazy
I'm very serious when I say that King Gizzard as a music project feels like what would happen if you put a bunch of guys with ADHD and infinite budget in a room full of instruments lmao.
On top of the 25 albums, literally every single member besides Stu himself has at least one side project, so they can't even keep *themselves* in one place at a time.
A KOLLEGAH - CBA REVIEW PLEASE
YES PLEASE NEEDLEMAN BRO KOLLAH BEST MAN PLEAS
really taking time with that jane remover...
You should review the best album by Kollegah "C.B.A. - CROSS BORDER ARMAGEDDON"
i’m not subscribed to this guy, i could just feel it in my bones that he uploaded a review for this album.
Did you hear the album C.B.A. (The english album)
Its so amazing😍 i'm so exciting for your review
Small note, Chang' E isn't pronounced 'Change', its pronounced 'Chong Ah'. Name of the Chinese Moon Goddess and wife of the Great Archer who shot down 9 of the suns in the sky.
The extended version is the real album
You're gonna make me commit war crimes, anthony.
Fantano has a great talent of always throwing my favorite songs in the least favorite song categories
IKR... Set is so unique and catchy, couldn't disagree more with his characterization
Your perspective is really interesting, I never thought of there being a middle ground between both editions as the short version is completely forgettable, and for the non-hardcore fans, the extended mix is probably out of the question. Very interesting anthony, great review. Unsubscribed, blocked and reported
Anthony dressed like hes dropping a british drill album later
Top 3 songs on it:
1. The Silver Cord
2. Extinction
3. Swan Song
I’ve been listening to the entire extended cut at least once a day though, huge fan
I think the band should’ve tried to edit the song lengths more so the record could be exactly as long as PDA. I think a 48-50 minute cut with each song only slightly extended would’ve worked so well compared to the two cuts that have an hour difference in length.
Pls review the first english album from Kollegah (C.B.A.)
Please review Kollegah - „C.B.A.“
Personally, I don’t get the shade being thrown at the shorter version of the album. I dig the extended mixes, but to me the standard version is a nonstop hit parade of killer vocal hooks which are insanely catchy but still have all the cool King Gizz intricacies like polymeters and syncopations. I especially love the layered choruses on songs like Theia and Chang’e, and Stu has really grown to be an excellent singer. Plus you still get so many cool synth textures and techno beats, so I really don’t see what’s not to like about the standard version. I for one am glad we have both versions.
That Jane remover is gonna be a 10

bro WHERE IS JANE REMOVER
Can you review C.B.A. by Kollegah? It is a new album (released this Friday) and it really goes hard! One of the best albums I've ever heard!
Jane remover is gonna get a 10 there’s no reason why he is waiting this long
he
I disagree with you Antoine Fantasma
so is the jane remover album review not coming
:(
Weirdly, Fantano’s least favorite songs were some of my favorites from this one! But I definitely agree, I think the band was trying to please two audiences with a short streamlined version of the album, and a long indulgent version, but the better compromise would’ve been making something in between those two. Interesting idea though
please review the new kollegah album C.B.A. . Its the album of the generation like Baldurs Gate 3 is the game of the generation.
What the hell man, Set, Gilgamesh and especially Swan Song slap super hard. While I think the short version of the album is a bit lackluster, it's a nice flow of the main themes for a casual listen. I really love the extended mixes though, it lets you really dig in into the grooves and beats. With most of them being around 10 minutes I don't think there is a need for some 'middle ground' between the 2 versions, the lengths are fine as is (though extended Theia might be a bit too long).
Strong 7 for me at least.
Hey Anthony. There is a famous german rapper named Kollegah. He released a english album named CBA. Pls review it i beg you
Never have I ever guessed Melon to be replaced by Tyler Joseph
I’m constantly impressed by these guys even if it’s a record I don’t love it’s so cool how they’re able to push out so much quality music of like an insane variety. Pure talent on display at all times they’re really a national treasure
Loved it. The extended edition slaps. This review is the jim cramers of reviews.
Pleased review C.B.A
I thought the extended album was very interesting maybe not their best but I liked the experimentation, I love what built up to this album I was thinking from Loyalty, Acarine, Cyboogie, Intrasport, Butterfly, Timeland, Flamethrower all lead up to a full album
were never getting the census designated review are we
the amount of times they say "thay-a" in the song but bleepthony blooptano still says thee-a is astounding
I thinked too that the extended mix was dragging a little without many changes to the song. But we forget that this is a electronic music album, not a prog rock one, so the philosophy at the moment of have long songs is different and they respect that. In psych prog jams they use a lot of sections and structures that came back, but in electronic music extended mixes are just about keep until the beat becomes hypnotic without changing too much things.
But me this album is more like a 7.5 I like how it tries different styles of electronic music and how every song have its own vibe.
I think I’m pretty much in alignment with the review. I pre-ordered the extended album. The preview cuts on Spotify were cool for the normal cuts - especially Theia and the Silver Chord. After have the full album, I find myself making mixes of the regular and extended mixes. Some of the middle tracks were less exciting. The extended Theia, Silver Chord and Extinction I have had on serious rotation. I love the drone vibe mood it puts me in - great for workouts. KG&LW’s output of not only listenable but enjoyable record after record amazes me.
What I'm most excited about is that this is clearly them setting a precedent. If we see the same evolution they had with metal, where Infest The Rats' Nest felt exactly like a thrash metal band's debut album and then PDA felt like they've been a prog metal band for over a decade, one can only imagine what crazy, beautiful musical ideas they'll come up with in the future, having a seemingly unlimited budget for synth equipment and an extremely comfortable and cooperative environment.
Their second synth album is already my most anticipated Gizz release
They almost sound unrecognisable in this record and its so cool
We need an review to cba by the german rapper Kollegah please he released an album in english
Now that's a particularly hipster beanie
Set is actually my favorite track but I very much prefer the short version. The extended cut goes on for too long and doesn't offer too much variation of that what I liked about the short version.
anthony's got that wintertime drip 🔥🔥
I'm a bit mixed on this album : I kinda like the style they went for and I do like most of the tracks, but I think it could've been 2 albums, one with the short versions and one with the extended cuts; or, since pretty much every song is either better or worse with the extended cut, they could've made just one almost by keeping the best version for every song; I also understand that they wanted to link this album to Petro-dragonic Apocalypse through the extended versions, but I don't think it works for me because it feels like it loses its originality (I haven't checked the lyrics that much, maybe there's a deeper meaning where the stuff from Petro makes sense here...). Anyways, still a fan, so I'll probably listen to it a bit more from time to time and, if I get bored, I'll just try another one of their albums I haven't listened to yet
Pla rewiev kollegah cba the english album its sutch a banger
Would of been a ten if it was called “the money cord”
what happened to jane remover album melon
Census Designated has to be a 10, there's no other excuse 😭
last year was 5 albums, a remix album, a short film, several demo tapes and live albums all while touring
Swimming Macrotonal Papaya will always be their best
Can you pretty pretty please review Kate Micucci's new album: My Hat. It is healing my inner child, it's got some earworms.
I'm in the same boat on this album. There were moments in songs that I really liked but other than listening to the "preview" and the "director's cut" I don't see listening to it again. I was a much bigger fan of PetroDragonic. Looking back at other albums like Fishing for Fishies, I actually liked a lot of the songs, except Cyboogie.
Please review CBA by Kollegah, he's one of the most successful german rappers and made his first english album
can you listen to Ozric Tentacles - Pungent Effulgent? it's one of my favourite prog albums
What do these dudes put out a new album every week?
Yes
It’s a full time job keeping up with these lads, but it’s always worth it.
Will there be a Goldilocks medium mix?
no one is quite as musically versatile as KGLW. Complementing PetroDragonic Apocalypse with this album is really extraordinary, even if either or both is not your subjective taste
Dang man, I love this album so much are you kidding! I get tired of hearing the same generic sounds from so many other bands. KGATLW always brings something unique, and this album is no exception.
Kollegah, one of the biggest german rappers, just released his first english Album C.B.A. YOU HAVE TO REVIEW IT!
They released 5 albums last year didnt they? Made In Timeland was last year
I expected a 10 with that yellow flannel jacket
Nah bro you've done this one dirty. Extended is easily an 8 you silly sausage
disliking set gilgamesh and swan song of all of the tracks is crazy litereally the best ones
When’s the Review (Extended Cut)
Nah, this is one of their best albums imo. The consistently exciting and aggressive dance beats on this record deserves to be applauded, these guys went from making some of the most neckbreaking metal records to one of the most slick and otherworldly techno albums. And honestly, I love both versions- the short one works for me when I’m in a more casual setting or when I want to just hear the main highlights of each track, but the extended one works for when I want to either spend a lot more time with the music itself or I’m just doing another activity. (Side note: the extended version is one of the best albums to jam to during a long car ride, thank me later)
You gotta listen to more electronic music
One of their best records? That's a very tough sell. The band hasn't just made two metal records and electronic. I don't believe they've released anything since ITRN that stands close to their first few records. To each their own, but I don't see how this record holds a candle to Mind Fuzz or Nonagon or Poly.
@@lamiaceae7774I think it’s a bit better than Poly and Mind Fuzz, less than Nonagon. I’m well versed with their catalogue, and I thoroughly enjoyed this venture
@@unknown6390Maybe I do, and if you have any recommendations I’d love to check them out, but that doesn’t discredit that I can enjoy a band I’m familiar with’s venture into a different soundscape for them, and being gatekeepy about the genre is gonna make me less interested in it lmao. I can easily pick up on the ways their typical sound blends in with new instrumentation and rhythms, what’s wrong with that?
@@lamiaceae7774meh. Mind fuzz isn't that good. Nonagon and poly are excellent, but both ITRN and PDA especially are the best music they've made.
That’s fucking crazy how he didn’t like swan song that was a highlight for me
Yeah I'm not surprised he didn't like Set, it isn't one of my favorites either, but damn Swan Song goes hard. Same with the standard version of Gilgamesh imo.
It's because Music Twitter formed his opinion for him. His reviews are just a distillation of other music reviews he digests and abbreviates
Hey man, Till Lindemann from Rammstein put out a album. Will you give it a review?
Aww Anthony can finally count the member of this band. Really proud.
They didn’t release 4 albums last year, it was 5 albums just like 2017.
they actually released 5 albums last year
If you are reading this, then you must listen to the extended version of the silver cord and be on some kind of "enhanced" state of mind, it's the only way to appreciate it's intricate passages. (If you know what I mean)
