Rammstein is the only foreign language band to sell out Madison Square Garden, and they did so in 15 minutes back in 2011.
They said they grew up in East Germany on English/American music, and at the time, they didn't know what the artists were singing, but they enjoyed the music. They wanted to create the same experience for people all over the world, so Rammstein's music is all in German. They'll add snippets of other languages like English, French, Spanish, and Russian into the songs as well, but they are German through and through.
All original members, and the original band name as well. They also only make music when they want to, and refuse to make music when their label tells them to.
All of them are licensed pyrotechnicians, especially Till (singer) who often uses flamethrowers on stage.
"Du Hast Mich" means "You have me", and it's a wedding vow song. Singer Till Lindemann said all of Rammstein's songs are about love in some form, even in disgusting or perverted ways.
They call their fanclub "Liebist Fur alle da" ("Love is for everybody"), which was also the name of their 2009 album.
Nobody does pyro like Rammstein, and they are unapologetic about the subject matter they make music about; which is often extremely controversial. They are an incredible live band, and their music videos are top notch as well. Especially the more recent ones, where the videos make the lyrics pretty clear if you can't understand them.

The lyrics are actually an awesome play on words, on the similarity between "du hasst" (you hate) and "du hast" (you have).
He is repeatedly singing "Du... du has(s)t... du has(s)t mich....", which on first hearing sounds like "du hasst mich" (you hate me). But what he actually is singing is the beginning of the sentence "du hast mich gefragt" (you asked me).
The whole sentence goes "du hast mich gefragt, und ich habe nichts gesagt... willst du bis der Tod und scheidet treu sein für alle Tage... Nein!", which is a wedding vow that he denies ("you asked me if I want to be faithful until death, and I said no!").
Till is a licensed pyrotechnician (and son of a poet, that's why he has outstanding lyrics).
If you get the chance to see one of their shows - definitely yes. There's no one that can even get close to Rammstein when it comes to live shows.

Hi from Germany. I love Rammstein (Rumshtyne) for their great music, the uniqueness of every single song, their creativity and their special ideas and effects. Texts and topics are sometimes weird, often dark, sometimes even disturbing. Du hast is a song about marriage and in German Du hast (hasst) can mean you have or you hate. The whole sentence means: you have asked me and I didn't say anything ... and the chorus goes: you want to be on her side until death separates you? And then a loud no.
Rammstein created 40 beautiful songs, I just name 10, you will love every single one. Check the official Videos Zeit, Angst, Adieu, Ohne dich, mein Herz brennt (Piano version) and the live Videos Rammlied, Ich will, Mutter, Du riechst so gut, wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen. 10 great songs and everyone is unique.

Where as Floor and Nightwish is Symphonic-Metal, this is yet another sub-genre of metal usually called "industrial-metal" or sometimes "nu-metal".
Now most of the pyrotechnics in this is genuine; the lead singer is a pyrotechnic specialist.
however some of the effects was added post-production of the video - the size of the explosion after he shot the flare, and the electricity on the keyboards were special effects added to the video - not actually on the stage.
But that doesn't diminish how badass the whole thing is. True art.
They lyrics of "Du Hast Mich" means (based on context) either "you hate me" or "you have me". So the song is a double meaning for a relationship. You hate me, but you have me.

A lot of people don't realize just how big time Rammstein was and still is. Very few international bands singing in their native tongue have had this kind of worldwide impact on the music scene, like they have. I still remember when their music made it to the states back in the late 90s. Du Hast was pretty much playing on every major Top 20 radio station across the US - in German. Their album "Sehnsucht" was a banger from start to finish! And their live shows are some of the best you will ever see. They truly give their fans their money's worth. They sold out Madison Square Garden in less than 30 minutes. That is some mega rockstar level stuff! You should check out Feuer Frei next. That is one of their more pyrotechnic songs they perform and was also featured at the beginning of XXX with Vin Diesel. Killer song! But they have a solid library of music to dive into. Rammstein is one of the most famous metal bands and living legends with the same line-up for nearly 30 years. Rammstein don't have their roots in metal but in punk, which many people don't know. See also haircut of Till Lindeman. They are a german band and are considered the best live band in the world by far, especially when it comes to showmenship, pyro and fire. Above all, Rammstein uses pyro quite differently than all other bands. Therefore after a Rammstein concert you can buy a T-Shirt written on it: I survived Rammstein. Rammstein concerts are sold out in minutes, no matter where they are performed.
Rammstein's music is a mixture of techno (electronic music) and metal (= industrial metal). Rammstein concerts are a life time experience that you will never forget. Their videos are art but also often controversial.
Rammstein also refers to classical German literature, e.g. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's. Several of their songs are related to controversial and taboo subjects such as sadomasochism, homosexuality, intersexuality, incest, pedophilia, necrophilia, cannibalism, pyromania, religion and sexual violence. Also several of their songs are allegedly inspired by real-life events or politics. Rammstein lyrics are very deep and are also often used in school and universities around the world to learn German. There are people who learn German only because of Rammstein. Rammstein fans from 10 to 90 yeras old are considered to be the craziest, hysterical and most fanatical fans in the world. In concerts from the hardcore fans all over the world it is expected that you can sing along with the German lyrics even if you don't speak German.

Till Lindeman the lead singer is a licensed pyrotechnician and designs the pyro show. Their stage shows are like no other. They did a US tour of NFL stadiums last year. The stage took like 3 days to assemble at each venue. They brought all their equipment over here with seven 747 cargo jets. If you have the opportunity to see them live. You should. Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden)
Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016)
Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics to serious)
    Amazing official videos
Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale
Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march
Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity
Spring! (Jump!) (animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm!
Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background)
Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album:
    Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic
Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny
Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message
Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view)
Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional
Last but not least the great (but not nice) video "Deutschland" which has a lot of references to (mostly unpleasent) parts of German history. Video, lyrics, and sound are great (my view) and work very well together.
I wish you to enjoy your Rammstein journey.

For many of Rammstein's videos there are English subtitles available. To find a lot of them, you may search on CZcams for: "educated marine rammstein" + songname
In case of Rammstein, precise translations of the lyrics is hard work (and sometimes not possible in subtitles), because they are playing many times with double meanings of words or slightly modify common German expressions and symbolic language pictures to invert or change their meanings. (That is even used in the very simple lyrics of "Du hast".)

I went to that concert back then I was 50 and I needed a boost in my life and well I wasn’t disappointed the first thing I saw in your video is that sentence behind you and well that leader that’s exactly what he did they started their careers with 30.50 people max with small fire-eaters and small fireworks as have little done in our garden for a wedding and this singer said "ok guys you have to think bigger" and he had thought about pyrotechnics but nobody wanted to do it and asked him the question but what do I have to do to make it happen and a guy told him the only way and that you pass your fireworks license and that’s exactly what he did. So for the young people here I’m actually summarizing we’re starting from a small group and we’re getting to that so When you are told "failure is not an option" it is true simply you must believe in yourself...
