    Hi Keith,
    Thanks for some great FR-V videos.
    I’ve been looking for info on make and model of the reversing camera you fitted, as it seem to fit the FR-V in design.
    I may have overlooked the info, if already stated, but could you tell me the brand and model of the camera? You could add that info along with model no. of the pioneer unit in the video description, as I think more people will eventually ask.
    Thanks again for the videos !

    Hi Keith, You a star and have saved me a heck load of time and arse-ache trying to sort this out. Hope you don't mind my posting a slight variation on your excellent process that might make it easier for others. Mine is now working perfectly 2.2 (CDTi EX 2007). There appears to be a difference on the Green connector where mine had 9 wires going to it but yours appeared? to have only two. However, I just connected to the same colour wires and bingo... it worked! I used T Taps that are really excellent and also means the original wiring is kept in tact (should it be wished to re-instate the old radio etc.) For the connects2 unit CTSHO001.2 (thanks for that invaluable advice) rather than cut and connect the main connector, I decided to just connect the three wires from the Connects2 unit to the standard harness and use this to connect into the new unit (Kenwood DMX125DAB). I again used the line T Taps that are perfect for this job. I would post some pics but don't think I can here? Anyway, thank you so much for posting all your hard work online for others to follow, it is much appreciated. Chris

      You have to prize open a gap in the plastic cover inside the boot lid, then run the cable down the wire feed on the hinge and then feed it down and out the plastic cover where you get to the rear bulbs, there you can connect to bulb wire for your live and run the rest under the plastic sill to the front of the car.

    Hello Keith, thank you for your videos! I am mounting a new SONY car radio in my FR-V and I have a problem with the connection of the steering wheel controls. On the interface, there are only 2 wires to plug into the original socket: a black and a purple. But the colors do not correspond with the original steering wheel control socket (the green socket) which also has many more wires. Can you tell me on which electrical wires I should connect the 2 purple and black wires of the interface? Thank you so much. Nigel

      Hi Keith same question on my end I've just connected a pioneer double din however my green connector has about 8 different colours on there, the adapter doesn't fit either so I need to chop off the green connector and connect the black and purple wires however I am unsure as to which colours on the green adapter to connect the black and purple, if you could assist with this it would be a massive help. Many thanks in advance

      @@Arthurmoodley Hello Arthur, I managed to fix the problem and everything is working fine for me. In fact, you must use the Orange wire (GND) and the Brown wire (SW1) from your original socket. The Black wire of your adapter therefore goes on the Orange and your Purple wire goes on the Brown wire. I have not found what the other wires of the green socket are for (auxiliary socket? Original CD player?). No one knew how to tell me. I put you the link of the video which allowed me to solve this problem (look at the comments and towards the end of the video, we see the connection). Good luck ! czcams.com/video/fGUINMREvEA/video.html

    Hey I am trying to get the parts together. Difficult but am trying. I have a standard aux plug in my dashboard, I believe it is also connected by the green plug. How about those to keep working, and ehat is the function of all the wires in the green plug, who can tell me that. Is ther3 an electric scheme?

    hi keith, think i'll do this as well - If i've followed along the FRV wiring stays the same (no wire cutting/ splicing), apart from the Green SWC wire, I need to cut off the FRV connector on that on the car and connect it to the Connects2 device (are the SWC wires colour coded as well?)

    • @keithmcmanus6650
      @keithmcmanus6650  Před 4 lety +1

      Unfortunately you will need 2 connectors and you will need to splice them. I've tried 2 different methods and the splicing one is the only one that fully works. h-tune.co.uk/club/guides/fr-v-steering-wheel-control-interface.1634/

      On the back of my stereo there is a green wire labelled reversing camera and I grounded it off the lights. You can connect it to the red power wire on the back of the stereo but mine had a dedicated wire. I did check a couple of DIY vids on youtube as I was going to use the power wire at first. It's harder hiding the wires than connecting it up to be honest.

      @@MrR11vat I stripped back some of the insulation to expose the wires. You can pull the bulb housing out from the panel in the boot. Use a multi meter to check power, you might need someone to put the car in reverse. Or if you can't do that it is easier to use the reg plate bulb. The wires are coloured and easier to identify
