Concerning the FX3 - If your church is a smaller church like mine, where the lights are less than 20ft up and away from the stage/platform, it might be better to stick with the cameras you have, and use the money you'd spend upgrading to 1 or 2 FX3's on buying some rigging and like 6 Amaran lights and fresnels lens modifiers.

Hey! Sorry to ask a dumb question. You use an effect in this video at 1:16 where you "push" the video to the right and bring in a graphic on the left. I don't need you to tell me HOW to do that, but I would love to know what it's CALLED so I can watch a video and learn how to do it. I'm editing in DaVinci. Thanks so much - I was able to pick up a couple of cameras because of your recommendations. As always, you guys are the best!

Shouts to our editor. They’re making that magic happen. So I can’t say for certain.

I’m not sure in Davinci specifically (I edit in premier pro) but I’m guessing that the graphic design was made in photoshop and then they just made it slide on to the side of the screen using key points. So maybe CZcams how to use key points? Also I’m assuming that’s how they move the video also. They keypoint it to move over when the graphic comes on the screen. And then probably add some motion blur to make it smoother. And maybe add an ease in/out effect. Maybe CZcams: how to use key points in davinci, motion blur, and how to ease in/out. Hope that helps!

If you want a Pocket Cinema Camera from Blackmagic that is slightly more expensive, the 6K PCC is ef mount.

Excellent point! I also mention this as well as the BMPCC 6K Pro under the BMPCC 4K in my article. Both are great upgrade options from the original BMPCC 4K.

With the FX30, there is no need for a dummy battery. I personally use the USB C port for power delivery. I just my plug MacBook USB C charger in and it keeps the camera going for however long I need. Hope this is helpful, but if you use the dummy battery for a different reason, I'd be curious to know why :)

This! There is no reason to use a dummy battery! You can plug it straight into a wall and be good

Fascinating. We actually had a third-party vendor suggest we go with the dummy battery so we just went with it. Great tip!

@@prochurchtools you can actually charge the battery this way to lol.

This is actually a bad idea because you are killing your battery.
USB-C is charging the battery while the camera is draining it, thus putting the battery under more load & stress and degrading the batteries health
This means your expansive genuine battery when you actually need it as battery will poor battery life. You will need to then buy a new one which expensive.
Using a dummy battery means power deliver is direct and the battery isn’t being cycled unnecessarily.
This is why dummy batteries exist, so you don’t kill your expensive batteries.

@@DarrenAllatt people run their camera off a vmount battery all day using the usb-c PD.

Hi Brady, thanks for the info. what are the 3 lenses that support power zoom for black magic 4k plus g2? I need a lens that can zoom from the back of church to stage like 50 feet or 80ft.

May I ask, I'm a newbie to this world of photography. We have a small house of worship. We're installing a BlackMagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 at a fixed location with a view of the stage (20 feet wide). The camera is positioned 30 feet from the stage and attached to the ceiling (10 feet high). What's the ideal lense to buy? I want to set the zoom and focus and leave it alone. Every Sunday morning, turn on BlackMagic without adjusting the lenses, and be ready to go. Perhaps Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH Power O.I.S. Lens ($499)?

They've been winning big for several years now. I was resistant to them for long before finally making the switch. So glad we did.
