hi man :) im surprised you only had 69 followers! im the 70th sub :D
super nice and professional and educational/interesting vid - keep it up
Thanks for the sub!
I’ll keep saying. Photography isn’t about the gear. You can draw a beautiful illustration with a pencil after all.
Amen 🙏
Some camera legit suck
I used to be a professional portrait photographer. My health sort of ruined that. BUT I have taken 100's of thousands of photos. And I love the old ones. :) I have used Phase One and Hasselblad. Not mine, I couldn't afford it. Point being...every camera you buy today...over 50 USD will do the job!! And way better than a phone. It's simple. Take my 6D f ex...it has a 35mm sensor. An Iphone 14 has...4-5 milimeters, I dont really know. And with a resolution of 45 MPX??? No way!!
Awesome video man💪
I'm actually using the same camera right now, and I love how those pictures came out!
I've took this camera because I was trying to rescue some old photos in it, but then I took some pictures with it as a joke, and I couldn't belive my eyes.
I know right!? I didnt think much about it aswell when I came across it. But when learned from @onemonthtwocameras about CHDK, I was hooked
hi dude! im surprised you only had 223 followers! im the 224 sub
super nice and professional and educational/interesting vid - keep it up
thank you very much, i really appreciate it!
Currently having fun with this camera. It's been with my family for years, and back in the 2000s my parents used it for both family and business purposes. Solid camera up to now, and with how cheap SDHC cards are nowadays, it makes it very easy to just start taking pictures.
It’s such a good gem 💎
Love the camera I have a Fuji FinePix from the same time period and I bought the my camera back in 2006 and I still have it and it still works like the day I bought it thank you man
No problem at all! I appreciate your support! which model is it?
Subscribed.
Hope to see many more videos on your channel in 2024.
Thank you very much! I will do my best!
Dope! Thanks for sharing, I have been on the hunt for a good vintage-y digi cam at thrift store. Cool insight!
@@alondrasanchez9379 if you can, aim for a Canon digicam, they have amazing colours
Great video man! Keep it up nice seeing tou more!
Thank you, making an effort to do so 😅
@@dangdiggidydog ????
Quality content, keep it up!
Appreciate it! Thank you!
Love these bro!
Thank you😊
I bought mine in 2006 and took it to Kenya on holiday, great pictures. I still use it almost daily when dog walking. It fits in your pocket(just) image stabilisation is excellent. Full controls M A S P plus easy functions.
Thanks for sharing!! If you want to unlock its full potential, I highly recommend installing CHDK on it
Steeveeee Let's gooo
When people say "It's not about the gear" What they really mean is, "It's not about the most recent gear". Because this video explicitly proves it is about the gear, this camera is rendering differently to modern gear, that's hard to replicate and get the same feel. You can try to get the same 'look' in post, but not the same 'feel'. Because there is an intrinsic difference. Some of those differences are: lower megapixel count = larger photosites on the sensor. No phase detection on the sensor = larger photosites. Larger photosites don't just capture more quantity of light, sunlight moves in waves and patterns, so each larger photosite is capturing more character and quality of light. Smaller photosites is like drinking parents vodka while they're away and filling up the difference with water hoping they don't find out. That's why modern images feel like they have less life because they do, the life of the light is filtered out, from lenses having more coatings and elements, to the sensors having more filters, obstructions and smaller photosites. Continuing on the type of sensor is CCD, as opposed to CMOS; that captures differently. And it's a Canon, they've always had a warm summer holiday feel to their image processing engines, even when their sensors are made by someone else like Sony, their processing remains unique to them. The image sharpness is also improved by Optical Image Stabilisation. Image detail resolving first starts with resolving the light going into the camera before it hits a sensor. No amount of megapixels can make blurry light sharp, so good optics and OIS goes a long way for detail. I think that's enough points for now. Gear doesn't matter in terms of starting to create art, but it does matter when you're looking for certain results. The same way acrylic paints render and blend colour differently to oil paints. You don't have to have one or the other to start painting, but as we develop an aesthetic aspiration, the choice of gear brings us closer or further away from the nuanced aesthetic feel were striving to create and experience.
Very well said, I couldn't agree more 👍👍
Damn you gotta make more videos bro this was really good. I really want to find this camera now buts it’s pretty pricy on the second hand market.
Honestly, as good as I make this camera look, There are plenty of canon digicams out there that can pump just as good if not better results. The key is to install CHDK on it to unlock RAW shooting.
Hello
Great video and I agree with you :-). There are so many point and shoot cameras from the 2000s. I have some and I use it.
Greetings from lower Bavaria.
Yes, they are very fun to use
Great review/revive!
Sub 145 from Sweden!
I´ve got an A520 myself. Lost my original one I´ve had since 2006 due to power failiure but thrifted a replacement some months ago and absolutely love it!
I am well aware of the fact that I probably never used this camera, or my previous one, to it´s full potential. Far from it. But since you have tips on this channel I might get to expand my knowledge somehow and make better pictures with it så keep it up :)
Thank you for the Sub and I hope I was able to teach you some new stuff. Don’t stop making photos 😊
Good video with a nice message. Thank you for being an example. Digicams are all the rage nowadays. Is this your first one? What others do you recommend on a budget? I ask because my digicam of choice is officially broken and IDK what to do. Might have to make a bigger camera function as an EDC I reckon. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! i really appreciate it!. 1- it not my first one, my first one was the sony rx100 ii, it was great but ended up selling it because i was upgrading. 2- Honestly, I personally recommend any other canon digicams because you can install CHDK on it and unlock some beautiful RAW files. 3 - Thats a bummer but they're old and tech is always bound to malfunctioning; but lucky for us, digicams are cheap, abundant and can be found anywhere.
nice video sir. You got a new subscriber!
@@whatepher1996 thank you!
Amazing video Steeve! Now let me hop in the local thrift store to find a digicam 👀
I see and understand the appeal. I might want to look into getting one.
Wow your samples look amazing. Especially the grain and colors! what settings?
Thank You!, I highly recommend. I suggest you find a Canon camera as you can hack it and unlock RAW shooting with it. I play with my setting alot and I love to tinker my camera so that would be a whole other video on its own if you're interested
@@just.steeve I am all about shooting sooc. I am into sony mavicas floppy disk cameras. But I could get something smaller and more capable :P
I have the same¡¡¡ and works very well. And my other camera is the canon G15.
Cherish it well, you got yourself a real gem
@@just.steeve Yes, I agree. The A710is was my fist digital camera. Subsequently in 2014 I buy the G15 (F 1.8-2.8) and I love also¡¡¡
oh mate, what a great video, you earned a new subscriber!
Can I ask you how you edit these photos? I love the style you give it, the colors, natural, not exaggerated. I can't edit like this, can you teach us please?
thank you! Ill definitely make one !
@@just.steevethank u so much! I need that
Excellent review, thank you! Can I ask, are the photos you shared SOOC, JPEGs right from the camera, or did you edit them somehow?
Some of them are straight out of camera but most of them are RAW(DNG). I love post processing to an extent but I found that even the RAW files on this camera are insanely beautiful, not a lot of editing to do because the colours are 8 times out of 10 good enough and the sharpness of the lens really stands out. The JPEGS in my opinion are decent but the noise compression is too much and takes away from the sharpness of the excellent lens but it definitely retains the beautiful colours.
Thank you for the answer! The photos you shared were excellent, I have to study more about the RAW possibilities of this camera! :)
hey bro beautiful pics man. Im also from ottawa lol, which thrift did you find this at? I was at value village this weekend just to browse for fun and didnt see any cameras in the store. These are going for 70+ on ebay now lol
Thank you!
I went to value village on Cyrille, now a days it’s a hit or miss. But I was only able to find it because I go there constantly 😅 so keep looking. My best advice is to go to multiple places, you will eventually find one
@@just.steeve ah okay haha, I've been there few times never had any luck, I rarely go now but should start going again
Thank you for the video :) I bought it to take photos during my holidays. Could you please write how to use it during days/nights and sunsets to have the best pictures? I am a beginner :)
Congratulations!! I’m very happy that you got one😊
With my experience for shooting during daytime, I used either P(program) or A(aperture priority) mode and I put my EV (exposure value) at -0.2/-0.3. I find that the camera brightens the image too much but with those settings its holds the details better. Furthermore, I recommend to use the VIVID picture colour mode. To get those beautiful colours.
For night I Peronnally don’t use it unless I have a tripod or if I use flash.
I hope this helps😊
I don't own any camera that is newer than 10 years. I have a 5D MK2, a 70D, a 6D and the original EOS-M. I have a relatively new mobile phobe...I use it for talking with people. All my photos are taken with a CAMERA. :) And yes, I have Panasonic Lumix too....It's smaller than the DSLR's. :)
Videomaking us possible with this? If yes please make a video test and show tutorial about the settings of video ❤
It is possible, but the quality is as good a potato 😂
thanks sir! but I think I can find f660 or f770
❤ got one in my pocket, on my hols 😂
did you edit those pics you re showing us?
About 90% are edited because they are mostly shot in RAW but some are straight out of camera; a great example is the first image of the slideshow
Does anyone know if the memory card slot has a capacity or can I just get like a 256gb card with no issues?
I believe the maximum capacity is 8gb memory, I tried to use a 16gb, 32gb and 64gb but they all did not work.
But 8gb will get you well over 800 jpgs shots and around 500 Raws
@@just.steeve so I actually ended up buying a 32gb micro Sd card and inserted it into an adapter for this cameras Sd slot and it’s seemed to have worked just fine
@@just.steeve 32gb is the max (SDHC). Might just be something wrong with your card or the camera's card reader, but try buying a fresh card. Currently have a 16gb one in mine, and it goes over the 9999 display limit in the camera for 1080p shots, and iirc about 4000+ for the highest resolution with my 16gb card.
Then why do videos shot from a 16MP canon A810 is 720p max and look bad? Shouldn't it too be more than 4k ?
Good question, the reason is because CCD senors are "technically" able to shoot in 4k but only in terms of still images. Video on the other hand is too much to handle for that type of sensor. Thats why they cap it to 720p. CMOS sensors are found to be cheaper to manufacture, offers a faster readout speed with lower power consumption compared to a CCD sensor.
@@just.steeve I used to think it is due to inadequate cooling and low spec processors used in CCD cameras. I can see how CCD sensors struggle with video on a technical level. Charges building up and circulating from the sensor for a 1080p at 30pfs will generate enough heat to burn the sensor.
Makes me wanna slap a cooling can on a CCD camera and see how far I can push it.
Are the photos you showed edited?
90% of them are edited, I really enjoy editing but I try to not overdo it. my goal is always to make the image look like how i remembered the memory
"Filmic"and then you put up scanlines?
I love alternative “Analogic” gadgets so I don’t really need to take my phone with me and take all my attention
I highly recommend grabbing one while its still affordable
Turn the damned muzak off, it is ruining your valid voice-over.
love your review and pics but I won't be watching anymore if you keep playing that crappy music. What a racket.
