Remastered in HD. In case anyone is wondering, no Case Closed is not coming to Adult Swim. This is an old promo. Toonami Remastered facebook page: / toonamiremastered
Exactly. VIZ renamed a couple of the characters, like Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo), Kogoro Mori (Richard Moore) and Ran Mori (Rachel Moore), while the others retained their original names, like Heizo Hattori (Heizo Hartwell), Kazuha Toyama (Kirsten Thomas) and Detective Ninzaburou Shiratori (Detective Nicholas Santos). FUNimation Entertainment did all the rest. Just my Opinion. No opinion bashing intended - EVER. Yeah. Of course, the Renamed Changes of the Characters, but who gives a Damn? I don’t. "We changed the names of the characters to make it best suitable for North American audiences." I find that a TERRIBLE EXCUSE!! I bet some company like TMS Entertainment wanted VIZ nor FUNimation to rename the original names for English-speaking territories. But, on the other hand..... If FUNimation Entertainment still had the rights, and rightfully switch up the DVD sales, they could’ve did More TV seasons and episodes, even some More of the movies and OVAs & Mini-Specials. Don’t ya agree?
I remember waking up at 5 in the morning to watch the episodes, i also remember how when the episode ""No Immunity for the Diplomat" end they would rerun the episode "The Big Shrink"
Because they placed it in a dead 1:00 AM time slot which guaranteed it wouldn’t take off. Thank god Discotek swooped in and finally gave this show the attention it deserved at least in regards to the specials.
@@conanhighwoods4304 usually the first half of the AS schedule 9:00-11:30 PM does the best rating wise. 12:00-12:30 for slightly less better, but still solid. Only true night owls like I was until most recently can tell you how ratings are quick to plummet once the prime time slots pass. That’s a tv rule in general no matter what programming it is.
I stayed up every night just to watch these late night shows as a kid. This was before DVR. Good thing the tv was in my room, my parents went to sleep early, and I was across the street from school.
Even though I stayed up for it on those school nights, I always made sure to record it on those recordable VHS tapes. I kind of miss doing that now but at the same don’t miss it. Like how I still have a bunch of old Toonami and Adult Swim recordings to this day. With DVR you have to delete shows to make room for more but with those VHS tapes I can still have old recordings to this day as long as I kept buying them back then and keep them. But DVRs hold a lot more storage and easier to record.
@@edtifa Dang that's too bad :( If you are willing to get them converted digitally, I will do that for you and pay shipping for a few tapes at a time to get them converted for you then send them back to you.
Damn, you lived across the school. That's both a blessing and a curse. On one end, you can go home early and catch Kids WB or FOX Kids, or whatever was on cable before any other kid could, but on the other hand, everyone from school knows where you live!!
I remember watching random episodes on adult swim and during 5am or whatever random times they at it in 2004. Good times man watch this anime before I went to high school.
Joel Luis A good balance back then, only 2 fox shows (futurama, family guy), some adult swim originals (athf, robot chicken, etc.), then actn stuff, and ending adult swim with obscure stuff like mr. t and chuck norris or gigantor (the song still stuck in my head)
Despite the low ratings on the show Back than FUNimation really should have Continue to show from 131 to current 1,074. Not to mention movies and as well as Convince The Same Voice Actors Cast for Characters to do it again
Adult swim was great for a while, then they started to fuck stuff up. Quality of their shows fell off a cliff by replacing anime with homegrown cartoons. Some of their cartoons were good, most were bad. When they were playing stuff like Assy McGee they should have been showing Berserk. They even managed to fuck up having one of the biggest anime series of all time with case closed by constantly shuffling the show around at various time and giving last minute notice of said time changes if at all. When you take a show that is airing at 11pm and switch it to 1am with the only announcement of said time change is a 30 second black screen with white text, 5 minutes before the show was supposed to air at 11pm it's gonna drop the viewership drastically. Case closed is STILL GOING TODAY. It could have been a juggernaut for them. It finally got to the point where they would just drop the show from time to time and i had to start recording all of adult swim/rising sun or whatever it was called at that point because i did not want to miss an episode and never knew when it would pop back up. It was literally on at 2am with no time update then on at 5am the next night. After they dropped the ball with this one i started to sway away from them. After a few year i never went back to watching adult swim or cartoon network. The last straw was cartoon network real.
I absolutely love this series! Its def one of my favs out of all the anime I've seen. Is there any other anime out there that is like this one? I love watching a 30 min murder mystery!🤣 I dont care if it's from the 80s,90s, to 2000s any help would be great!
I'm 2 years late but I hope this helps. check out these: Monster (60 or 90 ep i believe, slow burn, really good) perfect blue (movie) Erased (really good, one and done murder mystery) Death parade (this is another one and done i believe, good but a little out there) Death note (not quite a murder mystery but offers a different point of view) Uzumaki (this one is a manga but is supposed to be an anime at some point, really good)
The knife in the back comment might be a bit snarkier, but it’s not that far off from the original line. Megure asked them the same question, and they answered something along the lines of “It’s the knife in the back, just as it appears”.
psalms young yeah but I never knew there were 130 english episodes back when it came on back then, they only showed 49 episodes and then poof gone forever :'( I still watch detective conan/case closed, but I sure do miss the dubbed version I hate subtitles it's too distracting
I tried editing the DBZ promo audio by myself, but I'm running into all sorts of problems, mainly jarring audio cuts when the track switches to a different part. Can u help me out, Slim? I think we need the promo in better audio quality because as it stands there's so much noise that it's hard to tell at multiple points which portion of the track its using because it repeats a lot with several differing instrument variations.
I'd still like to know why they went through the trouble of changing the names when even France, which tended to localize names for some anime, kept the Japanese names. Surprisingly, the LA Spanish dub of the tv series wasn't any better and that dub was from the late 90s I believe. They tried to make up for it with dubs of the first two movies, though oddly enough they threw in some Japanese honorifics.
Ice Kokoro actually there's 2 Spanish dubs well maybe 3 but I know I one Shinichi is called Bobby Jackson and the other the other dub is from Chile and its really good
Does anyone remember this promo actually airing? I sure as hell don't. Adult Swim and Funimation's marketing of this series was abysmal, to say the least.
Well Funimation advertised it a bit on their DVDs with it’s over 2 minutes promo. But as for this Adult Swim trailer, I remember it because I watched anything that was considered Anime on Cartoon Network. But when this promo says 12:30 AM, that’s 12:30 AM on school nights or when fans go to sleep to go to work in the morning. I think the reason why Toonami refuses to do Weekdays now on Adult Swim since most of the Weekday Anime series didn’t do so well on Adult Swim before.
edtifa You might be right about that, but what is the point of advertising something that late? Why not advertise it earlier in the block (or just put out a list of the night’s lineup at the beginning) so that people have a reason to stay up? I was in high school when this show aired on the channel. IIRC, it came on at 2-3 AM, but because I lived in the Pacific time zone and my family’s cable package got Cartoon Network for both east and west, I’d usually catch be able to catch it a couple hours earlier (using a cable connection that I wasn’t supposed to have in my room, but that’s neither here nor there). That’s still rather late for somebody who had to be at school by 8 AM the next day, but it was doable. Obviously, it would have benefitted from an earlier time slot, but the time it aired wouldn’t have mattered much if nobody had a heads up. It was a complete unknown. At the end of the day, I’m just glad that we have Crunchyroll now. I just wish that they’d start filling in that massive gap between when CC left off and the episodes that they have of DC picked up. We’ve still got the manga, but it’s down to four volumes a year now and I actually like many of the filler episodes. They aren’t doing anything with the movies, either.
Well unlike now where Adult Swim starts at 8PM, back then Adult Swim was starting at like 11PM or 10PM. But Adult Swim on Weekdays wanted to have like Family Guy, Futurama, Home Movies and their other comedy shows on 1st. Midnight on those Weekdays was when the Anime got started making Midnight the earliest. Case Closed lacked viewers so it kept getting pushed later and later into Adult Swim’s block. I was in Highschool too when this was airing and I had to be at school by 7:30. Discotek Media is releasing a couple of Case Closed movies on Blu-ray.
looking through a bunch of Inuyasha recordings I have from mid 2004, they actually did air this longer promo pretty frequently during the initial 2004 runs of Case Closed. If you watched Case Closed when it aired at 5:30 AM in mid 2005, they never showed any of the Case Closed promos, or really any promo for shows airing in those graveyard slots.
"Get the cause of Death?"
"We're pretty sure it's the knife in his back, sir."
LOL
them were the days of adult swim in the 2004 Era Good times
+uberdude102 Now it's just, "soso lololol randumz!!@QRSFDSAF!!" with their programming.
Yes thats how it is with the Block but i learned to Move on and head on to the future
When Adult Swim was Toonami in a sense, man I miss being 10 years old back then, alot of memories and good shows
If it wasn’t for adult swim I would have never known about this gem and still follow the anime today
Up top !! Same here
There are used footage from opening and episodes 1-3, when in usual promo was used footage from OP and episodes 1-2.
I still say this show wasn't promoted very well.
Yeah that is exactly what happened to this show... oh and IGN witching about the name changes.
Exactly.
VIZ renamed a couple of the characters, like Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo), Kogoro Mori (Richard Moore) and Ran Mori (Rachel Moore), while the others retained their original names, like Heizo Hattori (Heizo Hartwell), Kazuha Toyama (Kirsten Thomas) and Detective Ninzaburou Shiratori (Detective Nicholas Santos).

i did the same thing. omg, that's the only time it played
If Adult Swim didn’t lose the airing rights to this anime, more people would’ve known about it
it didn't do well enough. It didn't get good enough ratings or DVD sales that's why it got cancelled.
Because they placed it in a dead 1:00 AM time slot which guaranteed it wouldn’t take off. Thank god Discotek swooped in and finally gave this show the attention it deserved at least in regards to the specials.
@@asherzerbib3461 But many anime they had played at night/early morning.

Toonami needs to bring this back!
00kys It won't happen, it received low ratings when it broadcasted, and Funimation lost license to the series
America gave up on this show after ep 130. I'd say it was a little too early to air an ongoing series.

This anime takes me back when mystery solving really got good. #Anime

I haven't seen this show for almost 20 years!
It's STILL going on in Japan! It's called Detective Conan and I'm pretty sure they've hit 1,000 episodes by now! 🤣🤣
