I loved this when I did catch it on Adult Swim and tried keeping up with the manga but the fan translations sometimes werenât the best of uploaded properly so I âgave upâ after a while and now that weâre much further along Iâm giving it another go by buying the official English manga. I just wish they didnât keep the 90âs Americanized names for the characters.

This series is so underated in the west and it's sad that they couldn't call it Detective Conan- because of Conan the barbarian- I feel sorry for Shinichi this man had to sacrifice his life and his love life to solve these mysteries and take out the black organisation
It's pretty big here in Germany and one of the most popular anime in the 2000s, so I was surprised when I saw that the US manga releases are still more than 20 volumes behind and just slightly more than 100 dubbed episodes. Until then I thought it was a big hit in all of the western world đ
Underrated? seriously? Everybody my age knows Detective Conan and the name "case closed" is only used in USA and Canada so I dont think it's "the west".

I remember catching part of an episode on Cartoon Network and being like 'aw, cute show" and then later in the episode you find out a guy was hiding the decapitated head of one of his victims under his sweater so people would just think he was fat and I was WTF is this.

My moms friend donated some unused comics and i saw Conan thinking it was a simple and funny series about a kid wanting to be a detective and i read it AND IT ACTUALLY HAD FRICKIN MURDER AND I READ THAT EPISODE. fr it scared me i couldnt sleep but i read the series anyways

Case closed was the fist anime I watched and really got into when I was in elementary school. I remember staying up late too watching it with my grandmother. This show is really nostalgic for me and instantly brings back those rose colored memories whenever I watch it now and days.

Gosho Aoyama actually said that the 100th manga is going to be the last one, so it's probably going to end sometime next year, seeing as they are eight or so chapters into the 100th manga by now.

I really wish it continued to be dubbed beyond episode 130 or whichever it stops at, I grew up watching the English dub and it is probably my favorite anime of all time.
Moonless murder was the first one I saw in dub and still is my favorite episode

they have over 1000 episodes dub now.
They may not be dubbing every rpisode but the newer movies have been dubbed by a different studio than Funimation (so the westernization has been fixed). I think it's the same studii that dubbed Konosuba
Detective Conan was one of my favourite shows as a kid besides Digimon and InuYasha... in Austria and Germany it still had it's original name. Thanks for all the detailed background information!

As the story above volume 20 started to enter the deep conspiracy arc, I sometimes go back to series for it. With the recent chapters revealing one of the biggest villains, it sure makes it super exciting for everyone whose been following throughout the years.

I remember being a young teen when Toonami/Adult Swim aired the english dubbed Case Closed and I've been a fan of the series ever since. Once Adult Swim only had re-runs of the first hundred or so episodes of Detective Conan, I had get my fix on newer episodes so I found eng sub episodes online through various anime websites that would only run 360p quality or 480p quality if I was lucky LOL I don't keep up with the episodes anymore but I make sure to watch every Movie that releases! The Detective Conan movies are always fantastic thriller-suspense films that I don't get in any other animated film.
I would love to re watch Detective Conan but just a few episode are missing in Crunchyroll

You will not regret watching the movie. It is so good like the raven chaser and zero the enforcer are my favourite. But the eleven striker and others are also super good.
Unfortunately out of CRâs control. No one currently has the streaming rights for the other episodes and even Funimationâs release only made it to Japanese episode 123. With the new dubbing and official releases of the more recent movies, Iâm hoping this means talks are in the works for the remaining episodes and other movies.

Happy watching! I enjoyed posting my experience watching the series episode by episode as I caught up.
Detective Conan is massive in the middle east. So far, about 500 episodes were officially dubbed to arabic (ongoing) since 1998 and all the new movies have also been theatrically released in Egypt, Saudi, UAE etc. Most ppl in the west dont know much about Conan, but it's quite popular all over Asia and some parts of Africa
And at least germany as well. We've got 333 episodes here in the early 2000s and since some years we're getting more episodes dubbed again^^
@@mayaneko1094 Yes, I've heard that outside of the Japanese dub, the two dubs that are closer to catching up with it are the German and Arabic dubs. We've been doing it since the 90s meanwhile everyone else just gave up đ

And even up to date with every new movie, as the're also shown in our cinemas in japanese and german.
The new movie 24 will also be released on the same day as in Japan in german cinemas, even with german dub available at the same day.
Thats quite an accomplishment and I hope they will do that for the coming movies aswell :)

Case closed was the second anime my sister and I were introduced to as kids. We would stay up until 1:30am to watch it on adult swim after Inuyashaâ€ïž. Our mom had NOOOO clueđ€Łđđ€Ł.
Literally the exact same me and my little brother would stay up to see it. Inuyasha & Detective Conan will always have a special place in my heart as my first animes

Actually I started experience detective Conan in 2022 after it became the fourth best selling manga .Iâm definitely mixed on the stories aoyoma does but I have enjoyed the experience of detective Conan but it surprises me how much energy the creator has to keep going I have managed to watch all of its episodes since last year

In 2022, here I am. being the 20 year old today I started watching this series the beginning of the year and put the series on hold because of other friends recommending other series I would most likely be into like black clover, that time I got reincarnated as a slime and Konosuba. Man itâs hard to believe animation over time, used to look like that and here we are now having a more 720p and 1080p hd renders for our animation. Before detective Conan I did watch lupin the 3rd currently waiting for part six when they announce some more episodes.

This has always been a series I wanted to get into. I used to watch it back in the day when it was on YTV. If only I had the time to revisit it.
I just gotten back to it recently on Netflix. (Only 20+ epis). The recap are there so you do not felt that you missed anything from the 900+ episodes before it. Conan is pretty formuliac, getting back to it are easy. The soundtrack are awesome as always and the nostalgia.

Yeeee-I actually just found out bout it like 2 or 3 years ago, and as you can see from my pfp I'm quite a fan of it after rewatching it at least once. Those series are quite an underrated gem especially where I live cause anime genre itself isn't popular here at all. Rewatching all those almost 1000 episodes was all worth it.

I feel like the original writer's ideo for how a murder case happened, what unique tricks are used and how Conan solves every cases thoroughly anf flawlessly make it a one of the best manga and anime for me.

Detective conan is so good! I caught up a long time ago though, and I don't really watch filler episodes, so sometimes I'll stop watching for long periods of time, and a lot of things after a certain point in the plot get really blurry

Accidentally watched this at 4am as a kid while I ate that CT church and I was amazed (I was maybe 7) still my favorite memory of amazement and mystery it was the elevator woman episode never saw it or could find it till now wow what a nostalgia hit

Episode 1000 airing in march! It's going to be another early episode remake like the "episode one" movie. Funny thing is in japan the weekday reruns not only air conan episodes but the ova series, tv specials and tv movies split up into episodes and the kid spin-off episodes were rerun as conan episodes put the reruns over 1000 episodes!

I can understand not being able to get ALL of the missing episodes, but i sure wish you could figure out a way to get the ones they've chosen to "remaster" and continue to pick them up. (in quotes, because they've done it to episodes just a couple years old). they cover the most important cases and even some of the funnest anime originals. PLEASE!!

Crunchyroll is my only source to watch Detective Conan and the only reason I subscribe to it! I just wish they could put the movies to stream too. I havenât been able to see the last 3 movies because of it (everything else I have on Dvd)
Case Closed and Nancy Drew definitely inspired a love of mysteries growing up. I maintain that the best mysteries give you the piece of evidence that solves the case upfront so that you can figure out the ending from the first 15 minutes. The show didn't hold up to nostalgia for me in terms of quality, but they are still fantastic mysteries.
I've got all the dvds that funimation released back in the day. Too bad they'll never finish dubbing the rest. Love this show.

I loved this anime besides DBZ and Naruto, Detective Conan was one of my favorite anime when I was younger. when I watched the last dubbed episode 230 I was wanting more and hope that the dub version would return someday.

This aired on Adult swim for a bit but it never pulled in ratings like Inuyasha, FLCL, Bleach, Death Note, or Cowboy Beebop did. So they canceled it after 100 or so episodes

I'm clearly dating myself when I say this...but I grew up reading Yaiba lol! And was very pleased when he slowly raised his popularity when the first few Detective Conan manga became popular. :p
I first started watching DC in â99, now itâs â21 and the anime still hasnât ended yet...
I love this series.. but I can only seem to find parts of it on VRV or elsewhere.. there is a MASSIVE gap between 43 and 754.. and it would seem that 821 isnât the final episode either..
Edit: just finished watching the video. Iâm sad those dubs seem to be lost.. I hope more episode manage to make their way over seas (or at least to the accessible Internet as a whole..)
You can find the whole series, movies and OAVs on fandub sites. I prefer to support anime series through official sites and buying the DVDs, but since nobody has made the entire Detective Conan series available for purchase, then I search for it on the fan-dub sites, so I can watch the rest of the series. I've done my part in every way that I can by buying everything legally available in the USA, I've bought every VIZ Media-released edition of the manga as it is released, and I will continue to buy anything legally-released here. But in the meantime, I'll keep searching for the rest of the series wherever I can find it.

It's a great series, and there IS a heavy degree of realism, but what about...
-Shinichi being a great detective from infancy (seriously, look it up)
-The organization not trying to take Conan out despite the fact that they most likely know about what the poison can do and Conan hasn't exactly kept a low profile
-Nobody ever questioning the fact that Sleeping Mori's lips don't move
-Most of the gadgets, especially the shoes
-Speaking of which, Agasa living in obscurity despite his ability to build such amazing stuff. He's always trying to create something that will make him rich, but you're telling me that there are no applications for a perfect, pocket-size voice-changer, shoes that defy the laws of physics, or a tracking system compact enough to fit in a pair of glasses? He should be screw-you-rich already, selling this stuff to the CIA.
-Oh yeah, the fact that somebody nearby will usually die when Conan, Kogoro, and/or Ran even go to get freakin' groceries. Megure has even said that he thinks Kogoro is cursed!
