Ah, I knew a most fascinating Lasombra long ago. He was a scholar, a mystic, and a sorcerer delving deep into the primordial darkness he commanded.
His ambition was apparent to anyone who met him, and his highest dream was commiting the Diablerie on his sire. Sadly, he never got to achieve his goal, as he was lost to the darkness he strived to master. He stepped into the deepest shadows, and never emerged.
Perhaps I shall see him again, some night, though I doubt it. Some dark secrets devour those who seek them, and the Lasombra have always prized ambition over wisdom.

I really enjoy these videos. I accidentally became obsessed with the WOD vampire lore by watching the white wolf documentary….. I’ve never played vampire the masquerade, but the lore is so much fun!

I’m making a homebrew offshoot for me and my friends I’m calling The Frontier Chronicles and I’m thinking one of the PC’s will be a Lasombra and his sire is a mysterious kindred simply known as Der Großmann.

You have a great voice for story relling
I think the lasombra might objectively be the most powerful clan. They currently control the largest religion in the world, and control a large part of the second largest. They have obtenebration, which of all the disciplins is by far the strongest, especially against other kindred, who are specifically relegated to the shadows. And many lasombra posses the baali discipline of daimonion. No other clan but the baali can summon and control literally demons, or summon hellfire from nothing.
If the lasombra wanted to kill every other kindred, the omly clans theyd have trouble with would be the tremere, banu hakim, Giovanni, and maybe the toreador and brujah.
Celerity, blood sorcery, and oblivion are the only real counters to oblivion (which bypasses fortitude), and even then a blood sorcerer cant do much if their arms are bound or whithered away. a toreador cant run from the arms of the abyss if their shadow refuses to move with them.
Obfuscate cant hide you from specters, fortitude cant shield your shadow from being throttled to death, and potence and protean wont protect you from being sucked into your own shadow and pulled into the labrynth.
Theres a reason other kindred look at users of oblivion with suspicion and fear, and its because final death is a better fate than whatever the shades in the abyss will do to you for the rest of eternity.
The lasombra abyss mystics literally have the only disciplime power in all of vtm that causes instant unavoidable death to anyone regardless of range or cover.
As of v5 I'd probably argue they're the weakest group.
Their influence with Catholicism has collapsed in the 2nd inq, they suffered massive casualties in the gehenna war and defection while also completly discrediting themselves, their clan flaw makes modern power hard to accumulate and v5 oblivion slowly turns you into a jelly brain.
V5 sucks
That's why no one plays v5.

You are thinking in the most simple terms, neonate. While the Lasombra undoubtedly command great power and their mystics are frightening indeed, true power among our kind has never been claimed at the edge of a sword.
What good is the strength of your arm if one can command mortals to slay you during your daysleep? What power does your mastery of shadows possess if your mind has invisibly been manipulated to betray you? How can you fight someone who has made themselves your indispensable lover?
Power is never as simple as who can destroy the other. It is about compelling another to do what you wish to do.

This may be a naive question from a fledgling, but why did the Camarilla make such a generous offer to Clan Lasombra? Was it an offer for only the Lasombra or was it an offer to the entire Sabat and only the Lasombra accepted this offer in large numbers?
They never go into the full details about this sort of thing but from what I can tell; getting a large portion of your enemy to swap sides and scarified some of their former brother to give you some of their unique special powers seems like a better bargain for the camarilla then the turning sabbat in all honesty.
Of course those who did turn seem to have had no choice in the matter, and it was only Lasombra that turn on mass. (at least during the event im speaking of in the video)
