I would never let her go she is beautiful built good and smart I wish when I started ridding horses fifty years ago that their was the knowledge available that their is now I feel like I missed out a lot on what you could do with a horse and the enjoyment of teaching one it makes me think about the good horses I probably ruined by trying to jump the biggest ditch I could find and racing other horses to much I’m to old to fool with them now but I would really like to do what Henson is doing and have his knowledge

Ground work is so important! This filling is sure nice ...a thinker too! Nice smooth job of getting her to face and allow touch. She is well worth training; making it easier for her to move on!!

Another good video showing Henson and his horsemanship. Really enjoyed watching his expertise with the yearling who is beautiful BTW. Henson sure gets how a horse thinks and good teaching. That microphone worked awesome for his lesson. PDR 👏👏👍👍
I’d name that outside horse, Smokey. I’d call that little filly, Zara. She is a special, gentle girl. Makes me think of Czar.

I love horses, even own two, I rode the buckers when I was young but I never have mastered the pressure release thing. In this video shortly after the 16 minute mark Henson is rubbing the filly with the halter. The filly makes a move that I would have interpreted as wanting to leave and I would have pressured her to go. But Henson, being much smarter than me, removed the pressure and stepped back. It worked great.

As Clinton Anderson says...make the good thing easy and the bad thing hard. Love Hensons approach on these youngsters. I much prefer imprinted in your pocket babies. But I am seeing some positives from this style of raising and training also.
I like these training videos. I like watching other methods of round pen work. I like when Henson says "you need to have purpose" .... don't just run them around to run around. Good video!

Thanks for a great video. I like your very patient approach. Too many of us want to see quick results from our efforts. You are showing that baby steps are important. Baby steps were important to us in our growing up, just as in training horses and other animals. Baby steps and patient repetition. I like the solid sided round pen that reduces the visual distraction while your are working the horses. Thanks for your improved equipment and demonstration. Henson does a more effective job than he thinks, maybe not ready for Monday night football, but he shows promise.

I ride mares most of the time.
I find they are much more loyal and loving.
They will give you everything they have to offer every day.
Geldings just seem to have days where they get lazy.
Amazing the progress Henson made with that filly in so short a time. His calm demeanor has a positive effect when schooling a green yearling.
I love watching these training videos. Henson is such a natural. Sure miss Lincoln. I’m sure you do too.

I compare Henson to Chris Cox, he is calm, subtle, quiet in his voice and movement he doesn't push a horse. He also rides like that, watch Henson ride then watch Chris Cox. Fantastic job on this filly.

Not much difference in the very initial days of starting… but in the long run we like fillies. I buy Henson’s shirts from JC Penney the easy care ones. Jerry wears wrangler I believe.
