Well worth the full watch for the spawn point information alone. I bought the full game with DLC during COVID, but I never had time while working. 2 strokes later, retired. I have time now. Your videos contain a balance of build tips, aesthetics, and strategy I find perfect for my playstyle. THANK YOU! 😊

im one of the folks that very much prefer the scrappy wasteland look, i appreciate going out of your comfort zone a bit for this variety even if this one's a pain to build around, keep it up =]

Honestly, I'd say you did better with this settlement than I ever have. Oberland's build area is so constricting and the terrain elevation changes so rapidly that it's hard to do _anything_ with the settlement.

For one of my Oberland builds, I started at the upper edge of the southern slope and built a deck straight out to the northern edge, width was from the east edge to just shy of the tracks. That then gave me a nice flat surface to build on. At the north end, it was high enough above the ground that I was able to put the medical clinic under there. The old railway tower building became the offices for my caravan and administration. I like what you did with this.

Fimally, the cargo train settlement you've talked for some time ago. Very nice, I'd love to steal it for my settlements 🏃💨💨💨
    Some suggestions:
    1. You could create a separator with a cupboard between two halves of the cargo to create the illusion of having two room in one cargo
    2. Putting powered door behind or in front of the gates
    3. Giving a neon sign to show the entrance
    4. Lowering the power armor showcase platform or making it higher, because currently your enemy could hide below the platform and your turrent can't shoots them

Much more developed and comfy than I've ever made my Oberland Station. I tend to imagine it as a place where people just squat in the rail cars for local scavenging and farming. So a handful of rail cars as buildings, the station building, and the central field the place starts with. I never build up the kind of coherent fortifications you have here.

This is a great build. I had an idea for building a row, maybe a double row, of shops along the railroad tracks to house shops for the settlement. I was just having some issues with figuring out how I wanted to arrange them. This gives me renewed thoughts in how to accomplish that in a future build at Oberland.

I’ve struggled with Oberland station every single time I’ve tried to build there. I always end up with some weird tower or just abandon the site. This is a really good build. I like it stays on the train theme and how you utilized the limited build area. I will be using this as inspiration for my next time building there. Thank you.

Neat. I think "scrappy" works for what you might call "outposts." Any colonies or trading posts or guard-towers, things of that sort, working as extensions of some larger main group's power and influence, can justify a look that's perhaps more ramshackle than an older, larger, more permanent settlement.

A few suggestions on improving settler happiness. You could add a slot machine or two, to me there does seem to be some space, you could use in some of the train cars. To do that, one train car could be doubled up with settlers. Second suggestion is, add some cats and dogs.

Most areas are scrappy in the fallout universe because there isn't the infrastructure for large scale construction for example the roads aren't in any state for trucks or cement mixers. In my opinion this settlement could have done with one or two orange box cars to break up the monotony of the blue box cars.

For your build I think I'd add a walkway to the power armor stand from the walls. I have done the scrappy build and outdoor vaulttec rooms considering how close it is to the vault and how much mote metal and such 81 personnel have after the curie quest.

OH someone who also does a hacienda build for this expletive hole of a build site. Mine is smaller I don't cross the tracks or go in the hole for the main build but i do build a tower of power in the hole water and power on the bottom beds on the second level roof big guns and a sky bridge into the roof of the compound with my only way in being a outside staircase on the tower that is under my turrets guns

  • @wod5203

I've had raider spawns occur inside my walls at this location, at least that's where I've found bodies afterwards. I suppose they could have come around the wall and entered through the opening from their spawn point, but that means either my turret placement is inefficient or these were/are some hopped-up raiders to avoid death from the missile turrets, the laser turrets and the 556 light and heavy machine guns. Yeah, the uneven build area is a pain to work with, and like all workshop locations in the settlements, the placement of it sucks here too. I agree, two hundred years and people still haven't figured out how to use a level, a saw, or learned anything useful to make their habitable buildings actually habitable? Yeah NPC pathfinding mechanics really suck, either you have NPCs standing along the outside wall of your buildings where the beds are, or they just endlessly are faceplanted against a wall they are trying walk through.

The thing that annoys me more about this settlement is that if you build stores sometimes the settlers you assign there won't get to their post, won't talk to you; they just give the generic settler speech, which prevents you from buying stuff. If memory serves, this also happens at Taffington Boathouse and Hangman's Alley.

    • @wolfen210959
      @wolfen210959 Před 8 měsíci

Sadly, the unofficial patch breaks almost as much as it fixes. One example being several quests won't progress until after you've slept in a bed for several days, or completed a different quest first, certain areas of Boston are so laggy as to be almost unplayable, and one area, Monsigneur Plaze causes CTD's. @@michaelproctor8100
