Matt sure did have some big shoes to fill when he joined the band but man, I sure do miss that raw power and that tightness that Navene had. Matt feels so jazzy with it. Navene was just so on it.
This is so inspiring to watch. The ending to live cafo with Navene I prefer over Matt's ending, the stops in the drumming just give it so much more effect in my opinion, I love it.
After watching this entire video of insanity i can safely say my favorite part was right at the end when he chose NOT to play. Space is something his playing lacks and that moment was so awesome.
loving the new e-zine. Navene has been my favorite drummer since I saw him play with animosity back in 2003. In my honest opinion he is the future of drumming.
@@zacmilne9423 completely different set of skills required to play in post navene animals. they wouldn't be the same band without matt. weightless is also a cake walk compared to their newer records. i think most high level metal drummers could play entheos and you wouldn't notice much of a difference. there would be a noticeable difference in animals without matt.
Isn't it strange, a human organism can concieve of such aural stimulation, and then turn that dream into a reality? What brilliance it is to dream it, and what talent it takes to actualize it. My respect is given and well due.
@TheDuffyGamer34 I can only assume CZcams doesn't track the time the video was uploaded properly after 10 years. I can't remember exactly when I made the comment but I do remember I saw this video when it was first uploaded.
Wow. I loved the band but didn't realise how good Navene Koperweis is. Listening to the album and just thinking of having to play that programmed superbness was more than enough to stop you trying it. He pulls it off amazingly well. My hat is off. Well done, Sir.
I just don't even know what to say after I saw this video. Brilliant, enthusiastic, accurate and powerful - yet seemingly stressless and easy. Heck, I showed this vid to my Mom, age 76, who immediatly wanted to hear it again, and again and again - though she has never listened to something else than Haydn, Schostakowitsch, Bizet or Strauss. Thank you, SD for showing some of this great work to us and my utmost respect to Navene!
I've been to 2 of their concerts and they're awesome! Navene plays the same underlying rhythm for each song every time like you would hear off their albums, but his fills are always different. He just gets on stage and grooves :-)
Steven Sproat same thing happened to me, I loved navene in animosity and they opened for job for a cowboy and I was like who the fuck is this band animals as leaders, turned out it was navene again.
I Love Matt, but it makes me sad I never got to see Navene play live, and just give him an arm wave. Kinda like Chris Baretto. Love the new shit, but so much love and respect for the start, too
There are so many great drummers out there in this genre, all with their own style, which makes them kind of incomparable to each other. Jay Postones, Alex Rudinger, Anup Sastry, Pat Skeffington and so on. Navene's a beast nonetheless, just listen to the old Animosity stuff!
Holy shit. Why did they get rid of this guy? I love Matt Garska's technicality but this guy is just fiery with his drumming and his passion. For fucking rocking out.
No limite do humano. Talvez o arranjo que mais será discutido nas proximas décadas. Koperweis deixa sua assinatura pra posteridade. Garstka assume o posto com dignidade e maestria. Dois artistas brilhantes, a altura entre si.
I love how he left because this became too easy for him lol. im sure it wasnt "easy" but i can imagine when touring having to play the same few songs in roughly the same way for months on end could get tiring if you keep being creative in new ways and want to do different sounding music. Plus with him gone we got to see how fucking crazy good matt garstka is.

I love when Tosin turns back just to see Navene destroying his drum kit
Ahaha
Man this dude was a perfect fit for early AAL. So tight with Animosity
Matt Garstka fits perfect I think
I miss animosity
Matt sure did have some big shoes to fill when he joined the band but man, I sure do miss that raw power and that tightness that Navene had. Matt feels so jazzy with it. Navene was just so on it.
Those Ghost Notes make a world of difference.

i really dont know how someone can remember all these complex times and fills. very impressive drumming
It's hilarious that there are covers of this song that have 10x more views than a pro-shoot of the musician who created this.
I'm not sure if you are aware but Navene didn't write drums for this album. Tosin programmed them and Navene learned them.
Joshua Cameron I'm not sure if you're aware but actually misha mansoor (periphery) is the one who programmed the drums :)
Josh Rudiger Misha wrote the entire song
jesus these people get off topic. yeah i also dont like how covers have that many views haha
Joshua Cameron op's comment went WAY over your head buddy

Gartska is a much more diverse drummer, but man.... no one plays this song like Navene.
So true
Have you listened to Entheos? Navene blows Garstka out of the water. He can also shred guitar with the best of them.
@@zacmilne9423 I like both, but Garstka is the better drummer.

With a band so focused on Guitars you forget how insane the drummer is.
6:16 THAT ENDING.... WHATTT? That was so well done!
The pause at the end is fuckin filthy
Navene: 1
Drums: 0
That part at the end....
The time signature of this song is the only thing in the universe that I found out it has the nearest complexity to woman.
Sipher Leggett it's actually just 9/8 and 7/8 throughout :)
4 words. The Dance of Eternity.
HAHAHAHAHA

I don't see why this doesn't have like a million views. I am in awe of how groovy and solid it is!
R.I.P. drumset
hahaha
Noah D he used it as a crash
And the crowd is in awe with such a performance that its left them motionless.
6:25 the power of silence. This band plays so tight.
Y'know, even though i love Gartska and stuff,Navene is pretty fcking dope!!
I mean,he's given cafo a different dimension.
a more metal-y touch i'd say
Anurag Gidugu well he is the original writer
@@user-id2dx4qd6j Misha Mansoor of periphery and Tosin Abasi wrote the drums I think

i love seeing drummers like navene k, matt garstka, eloy casagrande playing as much as mike portnoy and using a really smaller drums setup.
one word.. awesome!
Simplesmente destruidor! Adorei esse stack, quero fazer um desses para mim haha

Such an awesome drummer!
Hard to believe drumming wasn't his true passion. He's amazing,
what is?
It's a drummers dream to be in this band. They get to kill it every single night!
I was so surprised that he wasn't on the first album. I thought Matt has always been with AAL. But I love this guy!!!
Colt He never wrote any of the parts. Most of the drums for AAL were all programmed.

Matt is good, but Navene.. That´s pure fucking energy.
awesome at carrying the beat on either side, so key

good stuff, great grooves!
