- Today I linked up with my friend, Dre to overview and discuss the main differences between the BMW 135i and M235i. While these cars do have their fair share of differences, it's not to say they aren't quite similar in many aspects. Please be sure to leave a thumbs up on this video as well as subscribe to the channel for more content!

The 2 series also has a significantly reworked rear suspension with a ton more travel and articulation. It has about 2 inches for rear leg room. The M235 with LSD was also a few seconds quicker around the Ring than the 1M in BMW's own testing. The best 135 was the IS model which is pretty rare and more in line with the M235 in terms of factory mods.
wow, I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing, cause that's some really insightful information haha
All the 135is is an exhaust and a factory tune lol
@Dime YEAH FUCK DAVE RIGHT HIS ASS !! LETS FUCK HIS ASS TOGETHER!
Does the m235i come with HUD or Backup Camera?
love the 135.but that carbon on the side just looks bad imo
The one series is their only car that possesses all the qualities that made the initial three series in the 70s so great.
Just bought a 36k mile 6mt N55 135i :-)
I have a 135i and must say they’re both amazing cars! Love the way you set your car up, looking forwards to more content!
thanks a lot man! appreciate the support!
Dude awesome video, both amazing cars but this vid made me decide to keep my 135i DCT.
This legit came out the day I bought my 135i and was on my way home from a 8 hour drive. So cool haha
that's so awesome man congrats! perfect timing!
nice congrats welcome to the fam.
@Ari Awan runs like a dream, haven't had any issues, actually finished some preventative maintenance and getting ready for a tune!
@Ari Awan I had to sit on it for awhile, they're really hard to come by, how do you like the 235i? Do you have a page I can follow?😁
@Ari Awan 2009 135, just my personal Instagram. that's badass. I looked at the 235s but I had a hard time finding a 6mt
Great review my man👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
thanks man! appreciate you watching!
Holy hell, the rotors on that 1er need to be changed!Nice vid. I have an '11 1er 6mt. Every time I think about getting something different, I can't find a replacement to justify. 30mpg hwy and stage 2+ power daily. I'll keep it.
Awesome vid👌
thank you man!
Good review / I got the 135i m alpine white / red leather / I’ll never give it up it’s such a fun car 🤘🏻💯/ stay safe 😷🍻
Thank you so much! Nice car!
2:50 i need to correct you
sadly the M235i dont have a forged crankshaft...i work @ BMW factory in germany and i asked a production engineer who is responsible for the N55 engine...so he know it 100% exactly and he told me that there is no forged CS in the M235i`s N55 engine. But cool thing is that the connecting rod is the same as in the S55 engines... they have the same serial number.
But as u know there are a lot of M135/M235i with 430 HP+ and the CS can handle some power ...even wehen its not forged :)
greets from germany
I don't care where you work but you are wrong. This is documented in several BMW training manuals and parts databases.
@@twinscrolled so then show me the exact source from where u have those informations.
some ppl say that there was only in the first models a forged one...other ppl say there never was a forced one and other ppl say there was always a forged CS. for example in this bmw website the original CS is no more available but you can also take the other (forged) CS from the M2 with the number 11217602972...so what do u think, why is there a different CS part number? because its not forged.

SpoonTeggy interesting information! i was always under the assumption that it had a forged CS.
This link confirms it as well, let me know what you think:
www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=935130
It definitely has a forged crankshaft. The m performance models like the M235i and the M135i(here in Europe) have these.
Great video Omar don’t think the M235i has a forged crankshaft though keep up the great videos
Paul Pateman thanks man! the M235i actually does run a forged (steel) crankshaft.
Confirmed in the link below:

These are the two cars im deciding between, how does everyone feel long term on these vehicles? Im scared of buying one because i recently read up on the rod bearing failure over time
Are you sure they’re 1M front fenders? I had heard the 1M front fenders don’t fit the 135i front bumper as the 1M fenders are so much wider at the point they meet the cars front bumper? Also didn’t think the 1M genders fitted to the 135i side skirts
good vid. lol @ the minor "photobomb" at the end.
thanks man!
you should consider getting lighter wheels (~8 - 8.3kg). it made a hugeeeee difference on my M135i. also, chassis bracing on strut and bottom for the front made steering feel very analogue. rear subframe bushings inserts was a nice finishing touch.
If i still owned the car i definitely would!
I love the 135 for its purism to BMW. That’s why mine is gonna be bone stock. I’ll mod something else
i can definitely respect that, awesome to hear
Does the m235i come with HUD or Backup Camera?
Did you mention weight differences? High wheel offset requirement on the M235i like the 135i?
i didn't but those are great points to mention!
¡Ven a Brasil! ¡te amamos!
I'll take the 135i any day!
JERK ME OFF
I just went from a 150k mile n54 135i to a 2018 m240i, used for a really good deal! I can’t wait to start modding. Has a dinan intake and tune, but I want to ditch that for Bootmod3.
oh wow man! that's a huge upgrade, congrats on the new whip!
The M2 looks like a shrunken 335i coupe.
the real question is can i get action in the back of a m235 if I buy one???
I have a 2011 135i as well and was wondering if there are any common issues to lookout for with my DCT? It feels weird sometimes and the car has 85k miles
Adam Stranger im not too sure! i know there’s a service interval for a fluid flush and all. if you go higher power you may need to upgrade the clutch packs as well down the line. i’ll do some more research and make a video on this
@dave THE DCT found In the one series is not smooth from factory. They did not dial in the transmission. It will always feel clunky and shaky. Most owners decide to install a charge pipe to help at idle. I also recommend not using the AC at all unless at highway speeds. With the AC engaged at lower speeds, the car jerks and shakes. I’ve owed a 2011 coupe, 2011 convertible and now a 2013 coupe. They all feel the same.
@@NightStalkerrMc are they good cars? considering getting one with the DCT myself
@@EnjinTalethey’re good cars. just take care of them
I have a 2011 bmw dct. Could the 135i beat the m235i in a straight line with the ppk or mod for mod? Probably not, but it would be awesome if you could film a race. Keep up the good work!
we've ran it a few times and my car consistently can beat it stock for stock in a straight line. the 135i is still really quick though
@@SimplyCarThings But he is missing a charge pipe bung too, lol
Simply Car Things Those m235i’s are no joke. By about how much would you say? 2 cars?
My question always has been if I can retrofit the M235i intake, from air filter to turbo, on my 135i. I would like a short intake where the air filter gets located behind the passenger side headlamp!!
Get VRSF relocated inlets
@@vincentgonzalez7366 🤔 school me on it, cause I have never heard of it. Where can I find more info!! And thank you!!
Tell your buddy that he appears to be missing a bung insert on his Charge pipe. Look at 7:22. That's one hell of a boost leak :) Also, the EWG N55 has a physically larger turbo as well.
It's a common issue with VSRF charge pipes as they don't ship them tight usually or use high temp thread sealant.
Scott Redmond we knew about this issue! haha i believe he ordered the necessary part to plug it up 🤙🏼 and that’s interesting, i didn’t know the EWG variants had a slightly larger turbo
The 135i carbon fenders look so odd and look terrible like some guy got in a accident and replaced his fenders but doesn’t have enough money to paint them yet 😂
Agree. Car looks like a work in progress
Sorry if this a stupid question but can someone clarify or simplify what LCi is
Steven Hernandez life cycle impulse it’s an face lift and often infotainment updates mid way through the models production
Simply put the 135i coupe’ looks nicer but doesn’t have an adaptive M suspension option.
Thought the n54 could make more power than the n55?
It can make more power mod per mod, it's just that with the n55 it's more reliable motor wise
N54 is a blast, but get ready for oil leaks and monthly injector swaps.
@@mattythemartian3742 I replaced just about everything around the engine and a few things inside the engine along with new index 12 injectors. No issues. No leaks and injectors are 7 months old now and still going strong. It is a fun platform long as your not pushing it to hard.
thank you!
@@SimplyCarThings was your 335 n54 or n55? Can't remember
@@euko6876 it was an N54
the exhaust on 135i is dual, just both on one side
ahh that makes sense
Well i'm about to buy 135is version next week and i'm just really into it 😄
P.s that 235i looks great man. Enjoy to the fullest 💯
When you say 154 did you mean n54
Bro I love your videos
Tell your buddy I have a stock engine cover and a carbon fiber trunk spoiler that I’m looking to sell if he’s interested
thanks, Mathew! i'll let him know
Awesome man thank you
Keep up the great work
Cool. Now tell your friend to remove the //M stickers from his 135i because it’s not an //M car.
WHEN I SAW THE 135I AND SAW it wasn't a manual so sad how i rank cars Automatic petrol cars > EV's > Manual's
7elevenchapter well the 135i technically isn’t an automatic. it uses a dual clutch gearbox which is worlds faster than a conventional manual. look it up
Think 7/11 meant manual > auto > ev 😀
p.s. faster auto trans will just put more barrier between you and the car ending up having more computers driving the car. But to each their own
My 135i M had the dual clutch and I loved it, I'm still on the fence on whether I'm goin to get the 235 or not tho
m235i has 20hp and 30lb foot of torque on the 135i and has a LSD.
Chase Alvarez LSD is optional for 235 no default.
@5:40
135 is smaller with less weight therefore a little faster while 235 looks much much better.
the M235i is faster than a 135i stock for stock haha
Even modded the 235 is faster if the 135 has a n55.
135 looks way better
You say 135i as one thirty five I and m235i as m two... thirty five I or m 2.. three five I, when it’s not an actual m car 🤷🏿♂️great amazing car but not an actual m and the dct originally comes from the e92 335is where it was originally tested and then put on the e9x m3
Issa Goat both of your statements are incorrect man. the DCT was initially developed for the 08 E9X M3 and the same unit made its way into the 335is and 135i LCI later down the line. BMW branded the 135i as a 135i & the M235i as an M235i. i’m just calling each car by what the company named it after, not claiming my car is an M in any way. dont get it mixed
I hope this doesn't come across as rude or insensitive, but that 1er looks, in a word, awful. With the phony 1M parts, the disastrous color choice in wheels, and the colored grill.. my God the colored grill... this is probably one of my *least* favorite examples.
Need engine any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

2 series is to thin
There is no difference
Tamer S there is, 135i is the pwg basic n55 306 bhp 400nm torque , m235i ewg 322bhp 450 nm torque
but both are great rear wheel straight6 monsters
Man get rid of the ugly rims and get som 19 inch m4 rims
im going with 18 inch apex wheels for the lightweight, functional purpose they serve
Simply Car Things yes this is good but there is super lightweight 19 inch rims to, i got it on my bmw f30 328i and it got faster even if i had the 18 inch oreginal rims man
@@Gearsandco what brand did you choose? i would consider that
None, both need a tune/turbo upgrade
but uh shut up and raced them.
Biggest difference 135i has botox suprised eyebrow headlights, M235i does not.
235 an inferior driving car. If you’re in the market for a 235 drive an n55 135. 235s do not handle anywhere near as nice as a 135
