Sounds like a pretty good attempt at 'Keep It Simple, Stupid'. Got the strong impression that the HyperX sounded better (at least, for your voice) but processing really did beef up the capsule.
The point about 'entry level users might not realise they should probably use it close to their mouth, on an arm' is an interesting one given how lightweight it is. That thing would probably sit comfortably on a cheap gooseneck - but ultimately, that price point does have stiff competition as you closed with. Thanks for this!
As a buyer's guide for Mics, could you tell me in brief what I'd get in each pricing category? I wouldn't be a streamer but clarity in an office or house environment is what I'd be looking for.
Problem with hyperx is that its picky with systems it wants to work on. And it turns on and off then doesnât work anymore.
Might be the proximity effect caused the HyperX? That which may be giving an extra bass boost.
An awesome review and video as per usual, Adam! đđđ As ever, I appreciate you for taking the time to go into such a high level of detail and thoroughness with your testing and overall conclusions. âșđđ€đ§
Cheers to you, my man! đ»
Love the format of this video. Was looking for it
Love the content on helping peeps make better content. Keep it up.
The quadcast sounds amazing... i want 1
The lord of the rings content for audio test is just the best on all your videos
I'd really like to see some reviews of the Superlux mics. Some may know they OEM some of the Samson mics, but they have a void general lineup. Avlex also has some pretty sweet low cost mics, especially when you get into Countryman style headsets.
Sound pros know about them, but it seems few others do.
This mic's design is pretty neat.
damn, that hyperx quadcast sounds GOOOD
I can't stop looking at your hair, thank you for this art you have given to the world.
I actually picked up a Samson Q2U yesterday after watching your videos! Iâm exciting to use it tonight! Iâm also going to pick up a Behringer Audio Interface soon! As you also recommended that over the Scarlett Audio interfaces! Thank you!
I did the same combo trust you will not be disappointed
@@Knives7777 Thanks for sharing! Glad to hear as I am placing my order for the Behringer next week!
have you used it on discord? any problems?
@@mrsisig7443 Iâm sorry but I donât use discord!
How is it?
Ok the Capsule sounds damn good stock over USB. And itâs not overpriced in EU either, at $150/âŹ130.
This sounds like a buy.
It's in the hard price point where the competition is just great. The Wave with it's better software suite is probably more compelling. The Hyper X probably sounds better. And there are other options like the Neat Beecaster with all of it's adjustable pickup patterns and just excellent sound quality.
Hey mate,
Nice video, like all the different ways you use to show off the quality. Looking for a new mic, gonna use it for discord & gaming only. In my opinion the HyperX Quadcast has you sounding the best.
However, in the type/click test it did quite badly, and my keyboard is quite loud.
Does discord automatically filter these sounds out? If not, how can I reduce the amount of noise & disturbance this causes?
Any help with my questions or mic recommendations are highly appreciated :). Great Video!
discord has a noice supression setting which gets rid of most background sounds. i have a loud keyboard but discord gets rid of those clicking sounds for me
thanks prof
So what I took from this is the Elgato Wave 3 is hard to beat? Would that be recommended for a first mic moving away from a V-moda boom pro?
Can you connect this mic to usb port and the audio jack port on the back of your monitor, instead the back of your PC?
there needs to be more videos that are not revolved around using programs to record videos and more on talking with friends.
all videos i saw said the sierin mini is great but for discord it really aint good. i really appreciate these videos.
is the boom arm option only the boom arm or the boom arm with the mic
I need some microphone shopping help; this is probably a common question, or a dumb question, apologies in advance.... so, I am looking for a microphone that will only pick up my voice. I am worried that when i'll be gaming, it will pick up on the gaming audio from external speakers that's placed bottom of my pc monitor. Seems like dynamic microphone is the way to go, but wouldn't it pick up on the external speaker's audio? is there anything else I need to consider?
Best boom arm recommendations for this mic?
You're right, for discord I'm not going to out the mic in my mouth. I'm going to be leaning back in my chair
Can you use the mic if you have a wireless headset?
I wanted to see it compared to the Razer Mini.
if im using wireless gaming buds will this still work for me? sorry if that a stupid question
what did you do too the Hyper X too make it sound so good What the heck
Whatâs a good one for a console like series x?
Whatâs the best PC mic with 3.5 jack connection?
That Samson Q2U mic is one of the better mic's to buy. Its pretty cheap and has great sound. The Q2U can be used both USB and XLR.
and he already has multiple videos on it
And compared it here
Tell me you didnât watch the video without telling me you didnât watch the video.
I took this mic(samson) up on epos' recommendation I did not regret my purchase.
does the Q2u works flawlessly on discord? I just want to ditch my modmic
i have an hyper x quadcast mic and i can't get it to sound good like yours does
Can anyone help me? I recently bought a microphone that came withe a soundcard but when i record myself the voice isnt stable... it's like my voice fades in and out word after word.... the soundcard has many buttons like truble, bass, record, music, monitor, elimination, shock wave, mc and dodge... can anyone help me out?
you say you need to plug your headphones into the mic. what if you are using usb headphones will it still work?
What software were you doing EQ with? Streamlabs addon?
Adobe Audition in this case
@@EposVox thx
howâd you get ur quadcast to sound so good?
Thatâs just how it has always sounded
Samson ftw and not even close đđŒ
tech noob here, u say to plug your headphones into the mic- do we have to or can i plug my headphones into my pc? whats the difference
Is it just me or does that Samson sound pretty bad compared to the other two? EDIT: Looking at the other comments, I guess it's just me. It just sounds..a little off to me. But then again, I'm not an audio-nerd and I have potatoes for ears, so I dunno.
Nope. I agree with you!
I agree, I was my least favourite of the bunch
Agree
Itâs not just you
it has this gritty-ness and its just not right
I still dont understand. I want a mic that I can put in front of my monitor that will not pick up game sounds from my speaker - which I'm placing behind my 34 inch monitor
Does it come with the cords?
You just made me buy the wave 1... Lol :D
You wonât regret it. The wave link software is unmatched in my opinion. Only thing better is voice meeter, and thatâs just on features alone. Simplistic setup of the wave link software blows Voice Meeter out of the water.
@@thesandmanks yea im still not sure if i like the software though. It has clipguard, but does it have compressor? Maybe eq? How would i set those up for live stuff like discord? For recording it would just be with some vst in some recording program like obs :p
@@TheGreatCoolykoen yeah, thatâs where Voice Meeter excels over Wave Link unfortunately. In wave link youâd have to select your wave 1 mic, but from there I donât know the audio routing. I donât know if it takes a raw signal from the Wave 1 or if it runs through the Wave Link software first.
I have the dt990 pros and a sound blaster g6. How would I use this setup with this mic or even the hyper c quad cast?
For me best - hyperx quadcast s :)
The first time he started talking about Lord of the Rings I was completely lost. I didn't realize he was just using that as a quality test but you should have seen my face lmao.
HAHA same here, absolutely love it though
I'm 73 and new to pc gaming. I've recently came across discord and bought an inexpensive headset and mic combo. In the past three months, I've had to replace it three times. Either the mic or the audio just stops working.
I and my son are the only ones who are on my channel, and we like playing games and the ability to communicate while playing. But both of us have had the same issue with our combo systems of listening and talking.
I realize one can spend gazillions of profesional systems, but we just want something that would be sufficent and has enough quality to last considerbaly longer than a month or more. What would you recomend.
Razed kraken
@@ImNera nah for Razer you just pay for the name, the quality is meh. HyperX Quadcast is a good bang for your buck, but the Samson Q2U beats Razer all the time.
Literally use your phone and just do a discord call
â@@tommaso7517genius
Rode nt is really good
I donât have a pc, Iâm on ps5. I was looking into investing on a mic simply because I wanted to start using earbuds instead of a headset and have a mic for coms. Was wondering if the mic would work for console?
Does this work on console?
I'm not a streamer or content creator or podcaster. I'm just a dad that wants to game with his kids. id rather have a nice set of headphones that don't have a mic cause they always break one way or another. does anyone have any recommendations?
Shame its got the NZXT brand on it. Had to deal with them in the past on a few of their cases and tbh, I swore I'd never buy one of their products again. The knobs look SUPER cheap like they'd break or be a problem later on.
The Hyperx sounded better to me IMO, seemed like it was a little more focused and did better with white noise. My biggest complaint is that I'm used to on-headset mics, where I can turn my head and look around without having to speak into the mic. I had a cheapo desk mic in the past and it was shit having to have the thing right up in my face. really annoying, but I'm switching to IEMs so having an in-line mic on my face isn't really an option any more.
hello. i use speakers instead of a headset, what microphone will you recoment that vill only send my voice to the ones i speak to and not make ecco of all voices comming out of my speakers ? thx in advance
This vs. Hyper X Quadcast?
Hyper x đ„
How does a usb mic help with an Presonus 24 io interface? Please make and more in depth explaining this theory
It doesnât? You donât use USB Mics with xlr interfaces
@@EposVox well duh I know that,
Where you using a webcam to film this video by any chance? For somereason framerate looked glitchy and looked over exposed
Nope. A6400. Definitely not over-exposed.
@@EposVox Ah coulda been my phones settings as ya know youtube thinks 320p is high quality sometimes
Now i can sound good for my kitten
The only problem that I have with my mic, is that you can hear my keyboard very loudly
the hyperx sounded louder but it didnt sound as good quality or refined
wheres the sample quality on a discord voice channel?
That would be pretty arbitrary to re-create given thereâs a lot of influences such as the channelâs set bitrate, your connection to the server, etc that affect the robot-yness. Itâd just be the samples here but more compressed
Hyperx is the middle ground
I love you jacksepticeye!
bought the product but I can't install it on my lapto
What
It's a driverless Mic...
If you plug it in, It should work. If not... Something might be up with your windows installation.
Windows has built-in drivers for microphones.
Its too expensive, the Wave beats it at the same price.
hi
I just use an sm57 going in to a djm 750mk2
tbh that hyperx sounded way better
aaarrrgggghhhh you can can adjust the Rhode PS1 tension. Stop repeating the same mistake!
Even with mine tightened it doesnât like lightweight mics. It has an officially rated minimum weight for a reason..
đ€Šââïž 130 bucks? LMFAO. Mxl 770 is 60 bucks.
Iâm sorry about how I wasâŠ
Why tf are you talking about streaming, when your title indicates it should be about "Discord calls & gaming?". Not about streaming...
Sponsored?
No
IMO this sounds like trash. Good review tho, keep up the good work :)
Was thinking how good it sounds compared to the laptop microphone people use at work and I wanna get this for everyone since we canât install additional software lol.
@@fakestrawberryflavor Anything sounds better than laptop microphones.
@@fluphybunny930 actually... Once you remove a Laptops microphone it can sound pretty good. When you use it like a Lav mic and adjust it for that they sound rather decent.
Its just that they get pushed a little too hard when they have to pick up your voice from a normal sitting position so their gain is fairly high up there.
this video did not help me at asll i know wher eu live on my way rn
