Omg! You’re my hero! Brand new blackstone. First time owner. Left side would fire up just fine, right side literally was taking like 30 minutes to get to light. It was a gift for my birthday and I just found out that when it got delivered my wife was trying to hide it from me and was having a hard time moving it on her own so she literally was flipping the box to move it and get it hid. I was curious as to why one corner of it was slightly bent in when we opened it. I thought it must have happened on truck but I now know lol. Anyways, must’ve been what happened to my right igniter because it was definitely positioned too high. Thanks so much!
Thanks for making videos for some of us newbies using gas grills. It is so useful to me.
Thank you for this, no other video mentions this, totally fixed my problem
Right out of the box wouldnt light. Ended up polishing the electrode and tube to get it to spark and even then it needs to be within 1 mm of tube and over gas hole. Very iffy igniter. Thought blackstone had better quality than that. I shouldnt have to screw around with something right out of the box for hours to get to light.
Buy a new griddle and have to adjust the igniter? How about some quality control! Not impressed so far with new 28 in griddle and sloppy QC.
Very sloppy. I'm trying to get my ignitor and my air gap adjusted properly on mine now. The first thing I had to do when I assembled it was scrape off all the weld splatter that was stuck all over the griddle top. Have pictures that are going to Blackstone and the Internet world about the QC of their product.
Yea I literally had to drill holes
Right there with you. 4th cookout was almost ruined cause of this. Luckily my buddy kept trying and somehow eventually worked
Regulator hose for propane wouldn’t work. Went with small 1lb tank and nothing. Tried a lighter, nada. Shouldn’t have to repair or modify on a new grill out the box. Never again
I'll have to try it out. I converted a different model Blackstone to NG from propane and have never been able to use the ignition button since.
Thanks for the quick fix. Ignitor tip was resting on top of the tube burners. Bent them up just enough to create space between the ignitor tip and tube burner. Fired up on the first try.
We're glad you were able to figure it out! Reach out if you have any other questions.
@@BlackstoneGriddlesuseless design on the product no ignition
Just got my griddle and was having the same issue with the griddle lighting up... It was not working... Well low and behold my husband whom i love dearly.... Got a tank with no gas... Lol.... So y'all pls make sure gas is in the tank 😆
Blackstone does the 22" Adventure Ready model use a AA battery in the igniter? I'm having a lighting issue as well.
Idk how I feel about adjusting the igniter before running to the internet. I also don’t know how the grill business works but I adjusted mine within 10 seconds of not getting a light and it hasn’t stopped working yet so fingers crossed lol
A scenario not covered by this video that you may encounter with the igniter on the Blackstone is the electrical connector to the backside of the knob. Due to traveling with the Blackstone, this connector may become loose and hanging free. Simply reconnect it to get back to spark.
could you do a video on this so others know exactly what you are talking about? I have traveled with mine and now its not lighting. I took the igniter off the frame and looked it over, everything seems fine but it still wont spark. Yes I have changed the battery too. Would just like to see what its supposed to look like. Thanks.
I'm going to try this. Only had my grill less than a year and it won't ignite. Be better if there were words in the video
Just got the 17inch with hood from target for around $350. Put it together. And in the box included the hand checked off Chinese sticker for different parts they "passed". Well it doesn't ignite. I can turn it to low-high and light it with a lighter and it fires right up. I looked at the igniter and it clicks but sparks maybe 1 out of 5 tries. I even tried to light it while pushing in the button with a lighter and it didn't work. So I don't know what to do. As the gas valve works obviously and lets me light it but when I push in the button it should be lighting but nope
Is the needle supposed to spark? Mine doesn’t do anything. Using lighter
Done with this product. Spend more time trying to ignite it than actually cooking
I just opened mine up and built it today. Gas is loaded up and working but the igniter just makes a clicking sound but no flame. I tried multiple ways besides the match but would i need to do this each time?
Having the same issue did you fix it
I'm having the same issue with my new 22" Adventure Ready model
@@ericgardner4771 yes, i did. I just reset the gas line (there’s CZcams videos about it) and the igniter turned on. Sometimes there’s time where it still makes the clicking sound but I just hold on to it until it turns out. Usually that’s a sign that i need to switch out the gas. Hope that helps.
I thought this video would solve my problem. The igniters have always been iffy, then stopped working completely. I took off the griddle to adjust the tips only to find out that they don't even spark. Why do they not spark? The unit is a year old and has always been in my garage. I've pretty much always used butane lighters because, as I said, even when the igniters did work, it was very difficult to make it light. Help please!
Or the rod breaks as you try to adjust it. That just happened to me.
I hate mine. Only used a few times have to change the battery just to light and it won’t spark to light no clicking at all
Tried it twice. Metal L-shape portion breaks off at the 90 degree bend. Try twisting the ceramic part in its harness.
I have that one and the flame only is like it’s on low no matter if the knob is on high. What is the problem? I have disconnected everything a few times and it still has the problem. And I switched the tanks.
You might have to reset the regulator on the hose.
How do I do that
czcams.com/video/0_TimWCOxkI/video.html this might help
could do w out the hill Billy tunes
A rat chew threw my igniter wire. How can I get a replacement for the 17”?

I noticed the tips get red hot with the flame. Is that good?
Did you find an answer to this question? One side of mine gets red too.
@@Timm129 no I did not. I just light my grill manually. Its a joke for the price of these things
Just got my 28 inch griddle and the right igniter won’t work. It’s 1/4 inch away but no ignition. The left works fine. Issue straight out the box!
Dude, I have the same issue but with the left burner. The only way I can get both burners working is if I light the right burner first then the left will ignite. My blackstone is only two days old and already having problems.
@Help Me a return would be wise. Unfortunately, I missed my return window. 😔
SAME ISSUE
@@m107treal maybe we can fix as this as a community, the manufacturer doesn't seem to care or know how. I just bought a 28inch griddle today's and it looks fantastic.... just cant use it ... or better yet I can light it with a match and then quickly put the griddle back on ... Is that how it supposed to work? ... didn't see that in the brochure
btw, nice video and good music too ...your team should get a good ignitor also...i am pissed ...we just bought it on a Sunday. we planned dinner around it (our kitchen is under renovation, so our choices are limited). I just dropped $250 on junk.
my ignitor works about 1 out of 6 times on either burner...tried 2 full tanks ... it works 5/5 times (on either burner) if I light the burners with a match ...i have watched what seems every video and reset the regulator, adjusted the needle valve to right over a hole, 3mm ,quarter inch, 1/8/3/8...best I can get is about 1/6 lights...and I can only tell with the griddle off...This seems to be a problem you guys have known about for a while and didn't fix ..a $250 grill ruined because of a $2 dollar part ..
I have owned 3 with the same ignition systems, now the 4th and just one has worked and just for a while. Just bought a new Blackstone griddle, same as the others not even a click, checked the wires, tried several new batteries. Those systems are not worth a dang!
Currently my problem , i have no idea why it’s not working
Same problem....
Same
Just bought my first black stone. Junk! Never had so much trouble putting something together and I buy a new grip every 2 years and have built tons. This is the first that holes weren’t close to lining up, threaded inserts wouldn’t even accept a screw, everything out of whack. Then finally get it pieces together and then won’t start so came here to CZcams! Wish I could just return this junk
I bought a 1554 series 36". It cooks great and I love it....have to use a lighter to well...light it.
The thing I hate and find it terrible for this product is the ignition system.
Mine did not work brand new out of the box.
I email Blackstone and after 3 emails with a brain dead person who could not grasp that i needed a complete new ignition system, finally sent me the igniter box...not the complete system as I stated.
So,, I replaced it and poof...nada. Still BROKE, will not spark.
It has to be the rubber cap with spring as it does not push in correctly (as I stated in my email)
Should I make an attempt again...meh.
I chalk it up to bad product and kick my self in the @ss for not getting the Camp Chef that has the piezo electric system.
Same issue...did u ever fix it?
I forgot to put in a battery.😅
I just brought my Blackstone and it won’t light 🙄 it’s been a pain. I would not recommend this item sadly
This stove is a piece of garbage. Won’t even start and I’ve tried all the troubleshooting suggestions.
Worthless
0/10 product. Brand new does not work costco will be informed
Sure seems like there are so many ignition problems. Mine works about 1 out of every 6 tries. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE (?) AND THEY SENT AN EMAIL WITH A VIDEO LINK will try it out and the next step is to call Neal (flat top ging)
