I've had two flat tires in the last week, unfortunately where I live people are uncivilized and throw stuff on the side of the road, glass bottles, all kinds of trash. A metal scrap punctured my tire and opened a huge hole on the air tube, had to replace it..
I'm glad people are coming up with technologies like this, all my support
I’m looking for my tire size. I’ve tried so many things with different results. It would be SO wonderful to solve the fricking flat problems!
"unfortunately where I live people are uncivilized " lol, you're a privileged brat if that's your biggest problem. This is how people all over the world are.
I was gonna buy a pair of these tires until I found Tannus tires. The CSR of Tannus tire told me that they used to carry these but she said it was horrible so they made their own brand namely Tannus tires. So far? No regrets buying it and I never got anymore flat tires ever!
That is why I moved to Tannus as well. I did a separate video on them too.
Nice and straight forward video!! I really like this idea because I live in the Arizona desert and I am getting too many flats. This will be a bit less expensive buying tubes every month. Thank You for the tutorial and posting.
Thanks!. The Tannus tires are what I put on my commuter bike and they are holding up quite well.
You know you can fix a tube right?
@@BusyDadsWorkshopis this still what you use for airless tube? The tannus brand?
Looks like you may need strong hands plus a fair bit of patience here!! However, it must surely be worth it!
After 2 flats in a single week; these will be my next set of tires.
How it go?
I Have Rode 1000km with my FS Rocky Mt Bike .... Lots Of Black Single Track ... Zero Flats Running Tubes 😎25F20R
Great stuff ! -can you do a follow up vid about riding the bike and how the tire wears plus a bit of a study on how tyres are wearing ?
Lots of videos 😅 above !
Just bounce tire and rim on ground to get them studs in
nothing wrong with riding for the joy of riding...fast, slow, whatever
I just installed Tannus tires on my road bike. Pretty much the same thing
They feel pretty similar on the road. I think the Tannus tires have a little less rolling resistance but it isn’t a huge difference.
Thanks for the more in-depth how-to on the install! The company-produced one is not as good to see what to do!
Thank you. I also have a review video after taking them for first ride. czcams.com/video/uj_LpVtW1_w/video.html
Looks to me like NEXO should offer you a job! Great video.Thanks.
HA! Thanks!! I have a video I am working of for Tannus tires now!
Amazing invention ... an hour or 2 to avoid flats seems like a good deal.
For sure!
You have strong hands buddy. Just don't break any more spokes
as it would be a real pain to replace any.
I did not know and in my opinion it is very interesting, especially the installation process. However, at 07:15 if the tool escapes, you won't be able to ride a bike for 3 days. LoL. Thanks for sharing!!!
it's call a flat head screw driver
more brands of these coming out. I think the leading tire line is Tannus. at ~$80 for a 700c 40, prices will come down as popularity grows in the next couple years. I'd be comfortable paying like $60 and they will pay for themselves within 800 miles or so. they are a bit stiffer than some may like as I read about em. equal to 80-90psi, but good grip wet/dry road conditions.
I am running Tannus on my Specialized Cross trail currently
@@BusyDadsWorkshop and how long and/or miles are on those?
Awesome video bro!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I wish somebody would compare the difference between tannus and the cheap Chinese ones I've been using for years. Mine are around £12 each and last for years , I don't mind paying more it the tannus are better but can't be arsed with tubes ever again .
Finally an answer to this problem
Glad to have helped!
You made it look so easy 😳
Thanks. I thought it looked like I struggled...
wow. I really need one too..
Brilliant video - but how do you easily remove solid tyres and at what time to replace as no tread to gauge replacement? Thanks
Dude, thank you for the video.
Thanks for the reply as Iam about to fit a solid tire myself just lik this one
It makes life easier.
In the UK there is a company called green tyre do similar.....
And Tannus
Just got those and tbh they make it heavy to pedal
Just think of it as extra training! 😎
solid state tires is owesome!
Thanks for your video. However, at 6:23: hand destroyer. Also I have read and seen videos where there is a loss of performance. On a heavy, casual bike it wouldn't matter much but on a performance bike like yours, 1.5 MPH is quite a bit. Have you noticed such a decrease?
I have the Tannus tires on my Spcialized cross trail and like them a lot. No worries on flats and it isn’t a performance bike. When I still had my trek road bike, there was a small performance difference however, I didn’t race so it didn’t matter to me.
Is it easy to get the tire off?
If it is warm, it isn’t too bad.
Nice bike👍🏻
pls do a follow up on what you have found out
Hi! I did. You can find it here: czcams.com/video/uj_LpVtW1_w/video.html
Oh is that how those work. I always thought they were solid tubes that replace the normal pump up tube and then you put the regular tire over it. Do they last long?
Very convenient
Excellent video. How do they ride? What are the pros and cons? They seem like they would be a little mushy, especially in hot weather. The tradeoff is you would never have to carry any roadside repair items.
I have switched to Tannus tires as it seems NEXO is no longer easy to get. They aren't 'mushy' at all. They are rather firm. For casual riding, they are a great option. Rolling resistance is a little higher but I don't consider that a problem.
How was your ride with Tannus? I also switch to Tannus 700x23C airless tire just recently. After breaking it in, it's still feel so hard. I can still feel the vibration after 352km. It's good on roads with asphalt finish but not on concrete brushed finish road with bitumen lines on cracks.
@@xyr1nge I never did buy the Tannus tires. It's an interesting idea but still has some bugs to work out. I ended up going tubeless on my 700x32's. I had to go a little bigger than 28 because of the road conditions in my town. Tubeless tires have their own issues, i.e. fluid leaks at the spoke holes, constant retaping of rim tape, etc. When they work properly, they are pretty cool. But tubes still seem to work best for me. Just have to carry the repair equipment. Appreciate your feedback on the Tannus tires. Thanks.
I have a bad shoulder and slipped disc in back .Do think I would be able to put it on
I can't comment on that as I would not want to be the cause of any additional pain for you. I would suggest talking to a local bike shop or talk a friend into helping.
How is riding it after a while?
Would this work well for a unicycle?
I don't see why not as long as the tire size is available. However, look at Tannus as NEXO doesn't seem to be available anymore.
Since it’s been a year how have they lasted
I haven't been doing a ton of riding lately due to my busy schedule. However, I do have about 300 miles on them. I have to say that I am pleased with them as a cruising tire.
BusyDadsWorkshop Since it has been two years and a half now( Sept 2019), how are they holding up?
@@Simcore999 I'm curious too.
Yes id like to know of they're still rideable?
how have you found them for long term use?
I only put about 200 miles on those tires before I sold my bike. I have the Tannus brand tires on my "city" bike and have run them about 800 miles on them with good results.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop are they any good for speed?
@@loc9588 They are a little slower so I would not use them to race with.
Nice
Thanks!😎🌞✌️🚴
No problem 👍
is there a issue on bad road in this tire ?
and is there any speed difference and climbing difference with normal tire with air ?
I never had a problem with them
@@BusyDadsWorkshop what is the best size can you recommend 23 25 28 ??
officialdreymedina I believe I have 28s on my commuter bike.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop what about the grip ? is it still the same as normal tire or does the solid got more grip or loss a little grip ?
@@officialdreymedina3468 check the Sickbiker channel for an in-depth review.
I got tubeless on one of my bikes, its so slow and hard work up hills, its horrid, just on flat is livable but those hills !
Are those tires slippery on wet and dry roads? Is it available in other countries?
I would look in to Tannus tires. I got those to use on my Specialized Crosstrail.
Nice! Love cycling myself.
Thank you for the info, I appreciate it, happy riding.
I wanted to let you know that I plan to test out the Tannus USA tires fairly soon. They are only to have a 5% rolling resistance versus the NEXO that are 10% rolling resistance.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop .
Neat product! Have you noticed any difference in the ride?
Harold Aubry I haven't done a distance ride with them yet. However, just going around the block, they feel similar to a tire pumped to about 110psi.
how are they a kickstarter solid tyres have been out years i just bought some cheapo new ones for £20 of ebay for a pair mine are horrible like riding with flat tyres:(but isnt it the same type material as these arnt they all the same.
"not exactly the thinnest person in the world" LOL, that's one way to say put it, maybe not exactly accurate, but also not false either. very clever, LOL
I may be a Clydesdale but I still love to ride!!
How do they wear? Got gas bike do a lot of.miles do they deform like from weight or heat some guy put in yellow foam tire and they turned into shit in the sunlite
Honestly, for you application, I have no idea. Might want to check directly with Tannus.com
The rubber looks soft they look like an insert for your regular tires aren't you suppose to put a regular tore over the top?
I had those yellow foam inserts they were crap so soft on the rear wheel that it was the same as riding a flat about 3/4" above the pavement also caused bouncing which wore out the sidewalls of the tires and caused rim damage and wore the tire out from the inside lot of black rubber dust and when you chuck them went back to air the tire was deformed and exploded with 7" rip in the tire. Just though mention that.
Are those the ones that absorb water and cause problems?
Are they still riding as of 2019?
I sold this bike about a year later. I have switched to the Tannus tires on my Specialized Crosstrail and like them better.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop I was just looking at Tannus today, and found your video for installing these. Will this video work for installing Tannus, too? What's better about them over the NEXOs?
@@jimjohnson2213 Here is my video on the Tannus: czcams.com/video/etvCHXU3GWs/video.html I think they feel more natural on the road.
How about a follow-up video after you rode on these a while?
Just wondering what happens if you need to change the spoke nut? Can you take off the tyre and put it back on?
Yes, you can take them off. I had this exact problem. I was out riding and snapped a spoke.
Have you tried the Tannus yet? I'm a daily commuter/tourer and am just fed up. $80 for a Schwalbe and then $20 for a fancy tube? Gripe, gripe, you're picking up what I'm putting down.
Funny you should say that. I was talking to the guys at Tannus and they just sent me some shield tires to put on my touring bike for a new video! Ill be filming that soon.
Very cool. Look forward to the video. Hope that you and yours are well and surviving the Holidays, in a good way.
Grip threads wear as quick as any tyre. No punctures make it worth considering. Looks like a pain to get on.
It was a bit of a pain. The Tannus are similar to install
Hey man! Nice vids. Can a 700x23C be a replacement from a 700x32C?
When I put these on, they replaced 23s. As long as the rim can take it and there is room for your frame, I don’t see why don’t.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop thanks appreciate it.
Are they available for mtb wheels? Are there other top brands anyone can recommend??
Look at Tannus tires. I have them on my other bike and like them more.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop Ok, thanks! I think most bike stores don't have this style tire nor work on them ??
@@Hundert1 I think there are a few manufacturers around. My local bike shop can get Tannus.
Why didn't he start at the zip tie to put in the pins?
thx for your tuturial it helped me a lot,
I put the tire, from ali express, on my old race rims (40 years old),
2 prolbems
- i didn't get any buds (where can i get them?? no on Ali, no On Amazone)
- the rims are not with an inner edge.. just straith like a U
so I installed without.. is that a big problem?
But It fits very well and is super tight, need to fix the breaks and I can test.
Mine came with the white clips. You may have to check with the seller that you bought them from. I'm not sure if you will have a problem or not without them.
Could i put this on a vintage 1970 schwinn varsity wheel?
You can put it on any wheel that is the right size. Check out the Tannus web site.
This video is really helped me a lot, chinese tyres are a lot are more difficult to install, it was a pain in the ass 😂 had to use an hairdryer while i strecth them in with 2/3 screwdrivers, but made it with your help, thanks from Italy 🇮🇹
Great to hear it helped!
What Chinese tires are you referring to? Link?
Hello I need to make a wheel that doesn't need air for my human powered vehicle I'm making do you have any ideas for me
Take a look at Tannus tires. They are more available.
Are the rims a special type of rim or do the stock rims that come with the bikework for the install of these tires and how much are the tires for a 27.5?
I got a set and there wasnt any plastic snaps, which I didnt know about. 1st day it rained I thought my brakes had failed. Nope, tyre was still moving on the rim which was stopped.
damnnnnn
That’s a patent infringement. Tannus has the patent rights to the installation and clip mechanism.
I switched to Tannus
What size do I need?
My tire is 26 700c 23mm I bought one and it wouldn't go on its too tight.
How much weight can carry of this tire without any problem bro?
Do you feel a lot of drag/rolling resistance when riding them?
They are definitely not as fast as tube tires.
I installed mine.
And very hard to install. Lol
Yes, not easy. Leaving them in the hot sun for a while is a good option to help.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop how much are they and how do I order one? Can't find how to purchase on the company site.
How do they ride, and react on the road? Smooth, Heavy, Balanced?
These tires were OK. They were smooth however, they rolled slower than inflated tires. I switched to Tannus tires on my commuter bike and like them much better. They have a more "real" like feel to them.
Why is this not a standard today ? Such a simple and great idea. I hate the stupid air system. I allways have to worry about piercing the thing.
I agree. Solid tires might be a bit slower but that's not a big deal for must of us that just go our for casual / training rides.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop i think i woudn't even notice
What are them things called you put in the ties
Hummelstown pa?
Nearby.
There's only 700x35 in amazon will it fit on a 700x25?
Look into Tannus tires. I made a video of those and I like them better. They ride a bit smoother. There is still more rolling resistance than standard tires.
650 ×23c tubeless
I need 24” by 195 do they make that size?
So besides No flats, which is very cool! Now for the Important question?!, are the treads built to last???
+HUTCHvONE so far, so good. I have about 300 miles on them and they are holding up well.
Please where can I buy such an tire for .... 26 x 2.1 ... ? Thx 😉✌️ maybe with mtb profile
Search for Tannus tires.
Thx ... i was there ... they have tires but not exact ...26 x 2.1 ..... they only have 26 x 1.75 ... i was looking ... or is this also ok for my 26 x 2.1. ? Thx 😉✌️ i am not a Profi ... i only want tires they never get ko ... ✌️😁 normal bike driver ...
nexu vs tannus? is there a difference? whats better? they both make solid tires
In the US, it looks like Tannus is easier to get. I have another video with the Tannus tires.
informative video. thank you!
Glad it was helpful! I moved over to Tannus tires as they are a bit easier to get.
are they soft ? how much they weight in kg ?
They are firm but not hard. I don’t know their weight. That was something I didn’t care about since I am not a racer.
How did they hold up?????
I've been thinking of getting a set of these.....
I ended up moving to Tannus tires.
Looks like it can mess up your nice wheels in the process of putting it on
Depends on how careful you are.
Brother, can i buy these type of airless products in amazon or flipkart?
Look for Tannus tires. I feel they are better.
Wetthen up de tyre, that works a lot esyer.
I have 20in fat tires can I use it
How would this airless tire hold up in heat? I live in Vegas 😀
So far, so good. The Tannus tires that I have on my Specialized Crosstrail have done well in the heat. I don't think the NEXO tires are available easily in the US anymore.
Have Nexo for 26*2.00 measure???
If I don't have a lever, would a crowbar work?
try spoon or anything that is thin than can slip into to the rim
I didn't hear one fart at all here but I would to know how long these tyres last.
This tire can install without pins?
Is it still great need a follow up video
No, I switched to Tannus.
This or Tannus?
Claudio Trajtemberg I would suggest Tannus.
Where do you buy these??? I see the web site, but no way to purchase???
There are problems with Nexo. The better option is Tannus USA.
How many Miles/Kilometer can you drive the Tires until they are used up and need replacement?
I don't have these tires any more however I believe it is similar to standard tire duration.
Why is it important to wait so late in the process to remove the zip tie?
It keeps the tire from skipping off the rim when stretching.
700x28 to 700x23 can or not?
Check Tannus Tires: tannusamerica.com/pages/tannus-airless-tires
how if we do jump with this tire? & the rims it is safe ?
I can't answer that question as I am not a mountain biker.
"not exactly the thinnest person in the world" lol, in the world or in the world of biking ? lol
Your choice! 😂
I ordered Tannus tires.
I have Tannus on my other bike. 👍
How does the firmness compare with PSI ? Is it 80, 95, 110?
Maybe 90ish
Nexo tyre link says not found @India
Try Tannus Tires. That is the brand I moved to.
My question is, what is the comparable psi to the firmness of the material, I ride with 120 psi, with your set up are the tires soft and mushy or firm like 100 psi tires?
Ah OK. I would say roughly close to 90psi. They have a bit more rolling resistance than the vittoria tires I had on it. I'm not a racer, just a casual rider so the loss of speed doesn't bother me. I really like the fact that I am not dealing with CO2 cartridges and tubes! I was blowing too many tubes a year.
