    Sick video series! Nitro is super fun to get into man, once you get the basics down it’ll all be set for the future. Always learn from the mistakes. That rustler looks killer too! Nitrogang strong!

      Yeah I’m really enjoying this side of the hobby, so much more scale, with the sound of that engine and the smell of nitro in the air! It really is a lot of fun! There will be more nitros here on the channel in the future for sure🤙

    I know this video is 2 years old, but I notice the "break in procedure" for the Traxxas Nitro Rustler, Jato 3.3, Nitro Slash and the Slayer Pro all have the same break in procedure, even though Rustler and Jato have a 75cc tank and the Slash and Slayer have a 150cc tank. So you will use twice as much fuel to break in the Slash and Slayer. Also look how fast the front tires wore down on the Rustler in the break down time.

    Yea for my first nitro I bought a used slayer pro 3.3 that was converted to a bigger engine (aftermarket but forgot what it was) and the was such a bad idea. I had to take it to a hobby shop to have them tune it up for get it running right for me. Once I got it home and tried using it some more it always seemed to run lean and I just couldnt get a hold of it no matter how much research I did. It was definetly down to driver error since I had no clue what I was doing or getting into. Might try again sometime in the future with a brand new nitro instead of used.

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  Před 2 lety +2

      I would plan on a couple of hours because there are two 15 minute breaks on the first couple of tanks and after that it goes faster, it’s a process that you don’t want to rush because you wanna make sure you break it in properly so your engine will last a long time, technically you could do a break in the winter, you will need to make sure you pre heat the engine and any temps that are freezing and below I would recommend you wait until warmer weather, keep in mind that it is not recommended to drive in wet conditions or in snow

    I’m at the half throttle stage of breaking in and when I first apply throttle it only revs a little bit less than expected but once I hit half throttle it suddenly revs more, not smoothly as I apply throttle like yours. Is that something to be concerned about also I’ve been breaking it in in increments whenever I have time instead of all at once is that ok

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  Před 9 měsíci

      I’m not 100% sure on your situation without seeing it for myself. Have you tampered with the tuning needles? If you haven’t DO NOT touch the tuning needles until you fully break it in, it will be tempting to start turning the needles if you think there’s a problem but don’t do it, it’s set perfectly right out of the box for break in, also I would NOT recommend breaking it in whenever over time, set aside an hour and a half to two hours to break it in all the way, go all the way or don’t do it at all, remember this is a nitro Rc, it requires maintenance, doing the break in whenever means that you are probably leaving unused fuel or fuel residue in the tank and in the engine, that’s not good, I purge my fuel lines and engine after every run, while also lubricating the engine and cleaning the filter when needed, look at your owners manual for instructions on proper maintenance, hope this helps🤙

      @@rcreviews9894 I had to make the lsn richer because when idling there was no smoke whatsoever and the idle was super high. I asked for advice online with a video and most people also said to make lsn richer and it fixed it. I’ll admit I also messed with the idle screw a bit. With the hsn I reset it to factory gonna wait with tuning high speed until it’s broken in. So I did adjust the lsn but only because I was worried it was way too lean and would damage the engine not to get performance. And good to know to not do it in increments, I’ll do the maintenance it says in manual then break it in. To be honest I think it’s just typical sluggish throttle response and I’m not too worried about it I just figured I would ask your opinion since I’m new to nitro. I’ll worry about it after break in probably.

      @@rqlk yep I knew it, lol, it’s all good, you made the classic rookie mistake, let me guess, you took it out of the box, fired it up and it idled high and acted like it wanted to take off on you? Believe it or not this is normal, it happened to me, I have a friend that works for Traxxas and he told me not to worry let it idle around, just steer it around and with in a few minutes of doing that it went away, the engine is new and he said something about engine compression, I can’t remember exactly everything he said but it has something to do with that, that’s why it idles high out of the box, but literally from my garage to the street which is like 25 yards away, steering it there it went away, it’s a learning experience, next time when you get another nitro, let’s face it, you will, your probably already addicted like me lol, you will know not to mess with the needles until you break it in, one thing to remember, too rich makes your Rc run sluggish, this may be why it’s delayed on take off 🤔

      @rqlk Před 9 měsíci

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  Před 9 měsíci

      @rqlk Yes leave it alone, as long as it’s not too lean and you see blue smoke coming out of the pipe your good, you can always make adjustments later after break in, keep in mind you can always run too rich, you may use more fuel that way and it might run sluggish but your fine, really you are for now, the problem comes when you run it too lean, now that can burn your engine up because it’s not getting enough fuel through the engine, also when you do decide to make adjustments, start with just the high speed needle first, making small adjustments and running it up and down the street, you will notice as you do this the truck will go faster and faster, check out more videos here on my channel, I have a after run maintenance video here and a first tune video for the rustler as well.
