- Today we're going to be talking about the LA Clippers and their successful run since they've traded for James Harden. After a playoff run which ended early due to injuries to both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers came into the 2023-24 season with hope after a promising first week. They would then trade for all star guard James Harden. And after a rocky start, they find themselves with a 16-3 record in their last 19 games, leaving people to wonder, can this team actually be stopped? This version of Harden is scary. His IQ is shining, and he doesn't have to score really. The Clips are true contenders and I'm happy for Harden. He deserves the respect he's getting.
Clippers aren’t just winning games, but dominating. Most 20 point leads in the league. Biggest difference I see between them now compared to before is how they close games. Games like last night, they would’ve completely choked. No more iso plays to try to bail them out late in games. They actually have so much layers to their offense.

That’s what a true point guard is. I don’t think James is getting enough credit in how he’s unlocked a lot the other player’s abilities on this team. Joel Embid got his first mvp playing with the James Harden system.

I agree, we all know the point guard brings their particular flavor to the teams they go to, but no one ever says it the way Harden did so obviously everyone had a "wtf did he just say" moment lol. He better back that statement up this year or he is going to look even crazier than he did when he said it.
Well he’s definitely unlocked the bigs’ alley oops. However, I think it’s more accurate that Harden’s game has been unlocked by the presence of Kawhi and PG. With the offensive gravity that they create, Harden is almost never double teamed and never has the opposing team’s best perimeter defenders on him. Hence he has more freedoms to operate.

One thing I love is that Zubac has been able to be dangerous down low with harden drawing all the attention. The pick and roll has been phenomenal since harden got there also a lot more offensive boards and 2nd chance opportunities since most times zubac is down there alone. Kawhi and PG have been beyond efficient scoring and with Westbrook off the bench with Norman Powell this team is a terror to deal with
Exactly, I hate to say it, but Harden's presence is the difference between a bad team and a great team when it comes to the clippers

ive been watching almost all their games, and they've been improving every game especially the last 20 games or so with Harden at the helm. in about couple of months or when its near play off time, when they get rid of the minor kinks and perfected their it, i think they be the most feared team in the entire association. i pray that no major injuries though...
I think most people forget to point the fact that they're not just liviing through their big 3, like you can see the box score of Phoenix yesterday against the Lakers, it's Booker-Beal-KD and the rest is under 10 pts. While it's not rare to see the whole Clippers starting 5 finish with 10+ pts or sometimes 6 different players. Even T-Mann has been on a tear recently beyond the arc. You can double team Kawhi and it'll just give space to PG or Harden, then they can shoot or drive or lob it to Zu. The latter has been lethal in the paint this season to a point he himself can attract double-teams because his hookshot has been tremendous.
Defensively speaking, the starting 5 is very versatile, they often do high double-teams or blitz, Kawhi, PG and Mann can easily switch with their length and mobility, even Harden has been more than ok on the defensive end and Zubac. The second unit is solid too, even though Theis might lack size against big centers. I think Westbrook is one of the best man-on-man defender among guards in the whole league and Powell has always been at least a decent defender. Damn even Coffey has been excellent in his role, doing his part on the defensive end and able to punish behind the three point line or on drives if you leave him open.

honestly what makes this team so scary for me is just how much experience they have, they will be a huge threat in the playoffs.

what makes me scared of this team is russ in all honest to god, i mean u saw what he did last playoffs. If needed he is more then willing to step up, so if u have james unable to play and kawhi and PG are having an off night u still got russ to worry about it. Its a very hard team to stop and an exciting team to watch and since my memphis are out of contention this year im a clippers fan this season more or less.

The beard is the bona fide leader of the clippers as a tactical genius who makes the ball move. of course Kawhi is the two way superstar who is the main star but he is too quiet to vocally lead a team.
Now that Harden is in game shape and acclimated to this system, he is exactly the point guard the Clippers need. Such a great passer and assist man who is now deferring to PG and Kawhi for offense and scoring when needed. While Westbrook brings a up-tempo energy behind him from the strong second unit!

Harden is so good at passing, they are all starting to pass more to copy him. it makes their game so much more fluid and unpredictable. It was the missing piece for real. Even if Harden freezes up a little scoring wise in the playoffs, once he keeps passing like that and helps Zu to 17 points etc, they just might do it this year. Injury is their biggest obstacle. They need a real miracle to stay healthy

Hope these players come back to their 2017 selves except for kawhi injury. Kawhi, James and Russ were all MVP candidates back in 17, and also paul georgr were doing good during that time.
It's not hard to see the Clippers are one of the best teams in the NBA if not the best. It's basically like having Micheal Jordan, T Mac. I didn't know who to compare Harden and Westbrook too😅. They're their own player. I mean that's the best way I can sum it up. They have the talent. They have the offense. They have the defense. If they play like the roster is built. Which they are. Nobody should beat them. Nothing is a gimmie but they got it all

The last team in my opinion that was this alpha was Shaq and kobes Lakers. Being able to score on all four levels ( 3pt shot , mid range shot , the paint and the free throw line ). They have so many offensive attack options, which to me is the most dangerous trait about this team. The type of players that a team would need in order to guard against this clippers offense , are all on the clippers 😂. Which is why mann was untouchable, they have all the wing defenders for any level of opposing teams star players. Even tucker has value in being able to guard the wing. The NBA is doomed

As a Clippers fan I’m happy with the winning streak offcourse but we using full force in harden PG and Kawhi playing together. For the regular season we should explore more the good bench we have, even bones and PJ Tucker. That’s possible just by adding Kai jones, because he is a big that can defend but offensively he can space in a 5-out. Something like this: bones, Russ, kawhi, Kai and Theiss or PJ. The transition would be so fast and kawhi can play more like a guard with a lot of space (ISO), and defensevly kawhi won’t defend big PF like Zion that can injury him.
They don't have time to experiment, this is a one year only cause Kawhi, PG and Harden can go to other teams specially if they lose. Kawhi is guaranteed now but the other 2 are not. They need to perfect the line up before the playoffs. Hopefully no injuries this time.

You’re acting like the raptors are trash. They were hungry for win after what the refs did the night before. They got plenty of fire power and that’s why they gave the clips some problems. Nevertheless I knew the whole game the clippers would close it out properly.
The Raptors were playing with no mercy and the refs on their side, but you gotta respect them for playing as well as they did last night. Was definitely one of the tougher matches the Clippers faced this season.

James Harden's "playoff troubles" are linked to playing for Daryl Morey. You just can't be consistent if you're not allowed to take mid range shots. I guarantee he plays big in these playoffs, if healthy.

“I’m a system” and people got pissed. This is a tale of two tales. Westbrook and harden. Both former mvps that have struggled to win a title. One is arguably Kobe with Jason kidd’s passing but is also viewed as lazy and inconsistent and the other gives 100% but honestly can’t run the point on a championship level and can’t be trusted not to go wreck it Ralph when needed most.
Feel how ever you want about these guys but it’s obvious that harden is the system and that Westbrook is lighting in a bottle but harden’s system short circuits and lighting may be quick and deadly but basketball is chess not checkers.
Kind of the same player on different sides of the coin but we can’t ignore reality. Harden is absolutely the system and Russ is best as a sixth man on a championship contender.
I agree with most of your comment except that russ is a 6 man contender in the winning team. Russell Westbrook is a point guard that can get you rebounds and actually defends. He is not the sniper kind of a guy cause he has never been one throughout his career. Since the game has evolved around shooting , players who can shoot better are a natural preference in today's game and James harden is a once in a generation talent. Russ can be a starter pg in any team except the team he is on right now. All he needs is good shooters around him.
