This is a broadcast from 1989 where the current PCO band storm through set of popular numbers. I've done my best to clean up the video and have remastered the original mono audio to present it in its best form here.

Takes me back to my living room floor. I am 7. 8. 9. 10. I read books about knights, draw plans for castles, or play with my Lego/toy soldiers or cars while my sisters play with their things and my parents, still young and strong, drink wine and beer while they chat.. and in the background they play PCO, Mike Oldfield or other tunes and I wish I was that age again and being happy was not a rare treat but a day to day reality. Time moves fast and you don’t know how perfect those moments were until they have gone and you are old.
Same here . My father and mother both liked very good music and art in their own way . Inspiring me to make art and play guitar and drums at age 10 -
Dad would watch NOVA on PBS and I would lay on the floor , chin propped up in hands …. Watching my Dad, watch TV.
Wow, well said....I just found these guys so I am so lucky. They do take me to that special part of life. When Malcolm came out(soundtrack by PCO) I was a child and that movie made me so happy.
I remember watching this at my uncle's house with my parents and cousins. I must have been about 9 or 10 years old...still listening and to the fabulous legacy Arthur Jeffes has taken on.
A beautiful post. Making the most of the medium.
Hugs
RIP Simon Jeffes, I just discovered he died in 1997, 48 years old, way too soon
Takes me back to Glastonbury 1994ish off my tits having a wobble and PCO sorted my head right out. What a beautiful band
Extraordinary peaceful and joyful music. In this time and frenetic world it is a bless.
...ing.
What a treasure! I had always wished to see a video of them playing live, but never thought one existed. This is just wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
They are penguins attired as humans
Me too
I was reminded of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra while on hold with a Building Society this afternoon. Immediatley went googling, so pleased to have found this :)
Best ambient music I've ever heard, real soul touching stuff, PCO forever! Not too dissimilar of the Kaoss Kontrol genre if anyone might like to make comparisons.
Music of my childhood. I remember at the age of 5 I loved the movie Malcolm, it's cool to watch a movie about the inventor, and since the soundtrack to the film was completely from the penguin cafe, it gave me a love for good music. thank you so much for sharing this video!
aww yeah. Malcolm
Is wonderful music!. I saw them in Madrid 1990. Great memory!
tengo grabado en casette de la radio ese concierto, que emitió trecet en Dialogos3, lástima que no exista una grabación decente de ese concierto espectacular
Que suerte..
Brilliant, a special place in my heart for PCO. Thank you for sharing
You're welcome - but you need to really thank The Missus who kindly recorded this for me all those years ago in 1989 as I didn't have a VHS recorder back then!
The music of my soul.
Love this music, great to see a live concert. Simon Jeffes seemed to be an extraordinary musician and interesting person. To sad he died so early.
found it! what a piece of music.
best orchestra of human history :)
What wonderful ambience...
What an interesting group, excellent stuff
Oh dear, thx you for this upload.
Just wonderful. Sublime. ♥
Brilliant, love the Penquin Cafe 😀👍
Ah, Nice to be able to hear the interview bits, thanks for sharing !
Deep Joy Goosebumps.
Amazing thanks
Absolutely joyful, thank you so much
Great stuff!
Ha, that's a weird coincidence - I just transferred my VHS off-air of this, after stumbling across the tape for the first time in years.
That's nice, dear...
It is nice, isn't it. I was only curious if it was already kicking about on You Tube, and was just amused that it had cropped up a few hours before, that's all...just thought it a funny coincidence...er...dear. Great programme, I'd forgotten about the interview bits.
I’m sure it’s already out there, but my version is cleaned up and I’ve made the audio sound nice! 👍
Yes, and it's good to see the whole thing as well - it seems to have been just uploaded in clips before.
Oh I see, I’ve not looked for it. I just assumed it was already out there! 😂😂😂
Thankyou so much for this!!
You're welcome! 👍
Good
This looks so similar to the concert I went to in prob 1989 (or 1990?), but it was at the Almeida Theatre. This staging looks so similar, I'm now wondering if it was filmed FOR the BBC, but AT the Almeida. If so, I was here. Then.
I love perpentuum mobile.

I always think its the funniest thing when someone pivot vibratos a long note on a muted ukalale type of string that doesnt hold the note long enough for vibrato to be heard. Lol
Gosh I wish I knew what you were talking about....doh!
strepitoso
