    New York - 1 May 2024
    1. Wide of press conference by pro-Palestinian protesters in NYC UPSOUND:
"Free, free Palestine. Free, free, Palestine! Free, free, free Palestine! Free, free, free Palestine!"
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Cameron Jones, Pro-Palestinian Protester:
"Columbia's surreal response to the protesters nonviolent takeover of "Hind's Hall" turned our campus into a war zone. The university called the NYPD to storm campus, with militarized police, brutally attacking and arresting over 100 students, with multiple hospitalizations. Following the attacks on protesters at Hinds Hall, the NYPD then removed our peaceful encampment on the lawn, destroying our own belongings, tents, artwork and the community where we have spent the last 13 days sharing meals, praying and protesting for liberation. Columbia's attempt to oppress the movement only strengthens our resolve."
    3. Wide of press conference UPSOUND:
Free, free Palestine! Free, free Palestine! Free, free, free Palestine!"
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Corinna Mullin, CUNY Faculty Member:
"It was a horrifying experience. I was in that encampment. I was linking arms with other faculty members and students when this occurred. We were surrounded on all sides by hundreds of police officers. It felt like a military invasion. It was terrifying. Terrifying. I've never experienced anything like it before. There was an unnecessary and excessive use of force. Throughout the day, there had been chemical burns, broken bones, bruises. Not only students and workers, but also press had been targeted. During the raid, I personally witnessed several people thrown to the floor, beaten, brutalized by the police. I myself was also arrested along with hundreds of others."
    5. Wide of press conference UPSOUND:
"CUNY, you will see, CUNY, you will see, Palestine will be free, Palestine will be free!"
    6. SOUNDBITE (English) Corinna Mullin, CUNY Faculty Member:
"But last night I got to see firsthand this inhumane treatment of people who had been arrested. We were held in very long lines, hours five, six, maybe even longer. Many of us were left out in the cold for hours, in the rain. We had our hands tied with zip ties behind our backs, very tightly done. And I think that was intentional with many people asked to have them loosened. The police refused. Most of them refused. I saw incidents of people crying, breaking down because they couldn't stand the pain from the zip ties on their wrists."
    7. Wide of people chanting at press conference UPSOUND:
"Columbia, you will learn, Columbia you will learn, refugees will return, refugees will return! In our thousands, in our millions, in our millions, in our millions. We are all Palestinians, we are all Palestinians. Free, free Palestine. Free, free, free Palestine!"
    STORYLINE:
Pro-Palestinian protesters in New York decried the response of police and the administrations at Columbia University and the City University of New York (CUNY) following Tuesday's police crackdown against pro-Palestinian protesters at both schools.
New York police arrested 109 demonstrators at Columbia and 173 other demonstrators at The City University of New York, in uptown Manhattan.
"The university called the NYPD to storm campus, with militarized police, brutally attacking and arresting over 100 students, with multiple hospitalizations," said Cameron Jones during a press conference late Wednesday.
Instead, protesters took over Hamilton Hall early Tuesday, carrying in furniture and metal barricades.

"Useful idiots" is a term often used in political contexts to describe individuals or groups who unwittingly support a cause or agenda, typically without understanding the full implications of their actions. The term suggests that these individuals are being manipulated or exploited by others who have a more strategic or malicious agenda. Most of the protesters were lured by anti-Israel Islamist organizations. Free food is often offered at the main campuses, and the protesters enjoy the circus atmosphere.

Supporting government policies should be mandatory for every citizen, rather than being an enemy in disguise😂
