What a monster frontman! Alvin Lee was THE SOUL of Ten Years After. They tried with a substitute but there is NO WAY ANYONE could fill his shoes.

As much as I love Alvin’s playing, I don’t agree with you. The soul of TYA was more than just him. The other 3 members were just as important. Leo Lyons bass guitar was essential.

Alvin Lee, an important influence on me as a guitar player. He was stellar.

Great band as a youngster. I am a drummer and always admired Ric lees drumming.
Leo Lyons on bass, chick Churchill on organ, Ric lee on drums... and me.
    As Alvin used to say.

Ric Lee is a phenomenal drummer but he seems to be a really cool guy as well.

Alvin Lee WAS Ten Years After. Alvin wrote ALL the music, ALL the lyrics, sang ALL the songs, and of course was an amazing, legendary frontman and one of the ALL TIME great guitarists. He carried those other fellas on his back, and in my opinion, they all stabbed Alvin in the back. How can these wannabes still be touring under the name TYA, still playing Alvin’s music, when the man himself isn’t there?! I’m sorry, but it’s a disrespectful use of what Alvin made famous. Alvin asked them not to use the TYA name but, obviously they used it anyways. Can you imagine the Jimi Hendrix Experience still on tour with the original band members, but of course no Jimi? The Steve Miller Band with no Steve Miller? The Who without Townsend? Zepplin without Page or Plant? Santana without Carlos?! Cream without Clapton? I could go on and on. It’s been a slap to Alvin’s face. No respect for this traveling cover band.

An Abject failure in taking the name "Ten Years After" while touring and playing gigs. There will never be a Ten Years After without Alvin Lee. This is a guitar player that can't be replaced and therefore, I wouldn't pay a penny to see them. With all due respect to Leo Lyons, who's a gentleman, the latest reincarnation falls desperately short of the original band.
