The only illegal part of piracy is distribution. You can legally download any content and especially game and movie contents from the internet because the automatic assumption is that you already own copies, because that’s easier than dealing with the people who dont. So technically apple cant make that restriction either which the EU is going to love to mess with them for
I was able to get an emulator working on the IOS, but its a big workaround and needs to be refreshed weekly. And I did not keep up to date with that bc its such a hassle. But I'm so glad to hear they'll officially allow emulators now.

I switched back to Samsung purely so i can download anything not on the store, and allow apps to use more functions such as tap the screen for me or change the theme. I miss apples quality, design, and the fact apps work so much better on it. But they need to open their OS

That’s actually not true. There’s tons of emulators actually on Apple so that’s completely untrue. Yes, a lot of them get blocked, but there is tons of them that are still available.

Lightning is not competition because it is patented and Apple does not and would not allow its use outside of its own ecosystem. When companies are “forced” to comply like this they always half ass it. In the early 2000’s Microsoft had to be posix compliant to sell Windows to the US gov. So they just did the bare minimum to slap together some half working Unix utils and until they got the stamp of approval. Windows is not and has never truly been posix compliant. In an attempt to make it appear as though they were they shipped with source code for essential utils without shipping a working c compiler for it. You had to pay extra for a development kit that also included the compiler. Point being it was a facade, a clown show, a compliance grift. Just because Apple is being forced to allow it doesn’t mean it’ll actually work or be any good.
I do think now that 3rd party apps are allowed that Spotify either has to pay the 30% or be a 3rd party now that Apple isn’t a monopoly. I believe that the dev tools given are justified for the price now so kinda salty Spotify got away like that.
