The difference between a 99 and 100 in Rhythm Heaven Megamix

Excuse my horrible clip cropping.
Skill Stars are not necessarily always on the frame that gets you the rainbow circle. In fact, they span multiple frames, more or less depending on which game you're playing. However, the game still tracks your 0-100 score even if the skill star input is hiding it. So, you have to get a "rainbow input" on the skill star input, which is much harder to do because you can't see it, if you want to get a 100. - Hry
I always thought the skill start must be frame perfect, Now i must feel a little less proud when i get one nice.
I mean... yeah of course not.
Going for skill stars would be hell if it was a 1 frame window. Idk if that's even humanly possible.
@@rhyth_twisted Humanly possible, yes. Humanly reasonable, no.
I don't think the aces are frame perfect anyway, but the skill stars require you to get at least somewhat close to an ace
@@treechenhocoin toss proves this, cuz when you get the coin in 2.99 it shows you a ace. Still pretty satisfying to get 5 in a row
Ok I know it’s basically humanly impossible but imagine getting that 99 run
nothing is impossible
@@xkimura3740 How about you finding a love life
@@JTheMelon i still havent reached that point yet but what about you have you atleast tried to do that sort of impossibility?
@@xkimura3740 yes, it's also possible for the atoms to line up and for a clone of me to appear directly beside me, but that definitely isn't happening any time soon
@@xkimura3740 everything is possible but not everything would happen
Im honestly curious if a 100 score is even humanly possible.
Yes! I think someone named zedamex on CZcams got a 100 on Board Meeting on megamix
A few other Japanese players who i don't know the names of also got 100s on other ones too
It's probably possible on the clappy trio prequel, or other early game ones that don't have many inputs...
Well, my highest score is a 97 on night walk, maybe with some practice i can reach 100
i tried to 100 lockstep for like one entire year, i got burnt out and grew tired of the game... never do what i did if you don't wanna end up hating rhythm heaven
I've done it in baby mode Rhythm Rally prequel. No others, though.
RTA runner: "Is this strat viable?"
TAS runner: "Depends on how many frame perfect inputs can you do in a row."
fighting game players: deal
I wonder who thought fram perfect accuracy is needed for a perfect 100, and who was the genius that made it so you DONT need perfect 100 for any extra bonus
PFFFTHAHA IT'S LITERALLY O N E FRAME-
well...now getting the skill star doesn't feel well anymore

@@TallTapper whatsapp
So basically: rainbow burst is frame perfect unless it's on the skill star input, but to get a hundo you need all frame perfects
Gotcha
One frame. One frame. 1 frame. ONE FRAME! ONE FRAME! OOOOOOONE FRRRAAAAAAME!
Ah yes because the average person is likely to get a higher score by pressing A or tapping the touch screen at the EXACT correct frame. Thanks, Nintendo and Tsunku. 😑
At least 100% isnt required for anything in the game
@@bralenmurphy1991 yeah but say you wanna 100% everything. Thats gotta suck
@@MoonstruckCyan yeah I'm a completionist so I feel the pain
@Jung Daniel yes and no, as 100% is exactly on rhythm, so a mode like the perfect challenge would have been nice
@@MoonstruckCyan it is pretty much humanely impossible to 100 everything
How am I supposed to understand the intense differences if instead of being low pitched its just skipping like a vhs tape
It's going frame-by-frame
It's literally a difference of one frame, if it was just slowed down you still couldn't make it out.
Someone hasn't used a vhs tape before
I've always had a hunch that getting the skillstar increases your score by 1-2 points, and that since the skillstar is more precise, doesn't show your timing, and already has a big effect on your final score, it would count as a perfect input.
Looking at this, I think the skillstar gives you 2 point by default for getting it, and makes the timing more precise but still checks if your timing was good, giving you 1 point extra if you hit it perfectly. It just a normal beat but it doesn't show you how off you are like all the others
"doesn't show your timing" are the big star pieces going to the center not a showing of timing?
@@JasonFree he means after you press it also what kind ov proseser in your brain can detect a *1 frame* difference
Why is that one frame so noticeable
Good thing I don't actually go for a 100 score. I only care about the Skill Star, the Superb, and the Perfect Campaign.
One goddamn frame
i thought the skill star was always on the rainbow hit
it is
@@thepurestvessel9249 oh okay
Man why would Megamix bother being this precise when the game is so damn easy
It just feels like a weird mismatch of priorities
Low skill floor, very high skill ceiling. Makes sense for a rhythm game IMO
@@zartle873 I can agree with that in concept but I wish what decided the difficulty was the design of the minigames themselves as opposed to the judgment of how well you did
Minigames like Launch Party don't need much explanation but can still be difficult in execution depending on how accurately the game measures your timing
@@kylehennkens9578 isn't that all of rhythm heaven though? not just megamix
@@zartle873 Rhythm Heaven is definitely on the easier side of rhythm games, and it has a purpose being there. I don't play RH for it's difficulty, but I do enjoy it being there when the series has it's difficult moments.
But all three of the other games in the series had some challenge to them, when I played Megamix I was almost frustrated by how much easier it is in comparison. Making an easy rhythm game is completely okay, I guess I just wish there was a 'hard' difficulty for the main progression
Because getting a score of 100 (or close to it) is purely for bragging rights and has no tangible effect on the game itself?
Honestly, I don't think they genuinely intended for anyone to GET 100 on most minigames, let alone all of them. The score is meant to be a representation of how close to the "perfect rhythm" you are (e.g., yes, the exact frames of each input), and nobody is humanly going to be perfect all the time. It's like why Tool Assisted Speedruns exist: You could _theoretically_ beat the game this quickly, but no human is going to be able to do so. Instead, having that upper limit helps provide a sense of scale for how skilled a person is by comparison.
So basically in order to get 100% perfect scores in any game
You literally need to be precise down to the very frames
Yeah sounds fair
*frame-perfect*
How different
The highest score I've ever been able to get on any rhythm Heaven game is 96 with no misses and the skill star bonus. Idk if I'll ever be able to get a higher score than that
Same
I’ve gotten 99 on Clappy Trio. I think I missed one ace.
I’ve gotten the same on first contact
I've been enlightened
Also the skill star time window in rythm heaven megamix is hard change my mind
yes
O god
So even aces aren’t consistent

This game is so bad at communicating what it wants the player to do lmao (still love it)
Better than making you do the entire level again because you hit the last couple notes a bit off
