Have you guys ever done a milage test comparing tailgate up versus down? They would be interesting to see in addition to doing that test with a cap also.

Based on differential gearing it was able to haul more than this Ford was rated because the Chevy was a 3.73 differential gear versus the Ford 3.55. Don't forget that you're using winter gas and running the heater.
Cup & Cone gm is weaker there fore not as much fuel
Also the Chevrolet managed that better mpg despite the fact that they used 85 octane (with 10% ethanol) yet for some reason on the Ford they gave it 87 (without ethanol) even though both manufacturers say 87 minimum. I'd imagine if the Chevrolet had gotten the equal fuel it would have been an even larger margin of difference.
Matthew Robertson The heat won’t affect fuel economy unless the defrost is on, fuel type maybe, weather conditions for sure and gearing as well.
That amazes me, these new heavy-duty trucks get better fuel economy than my 2004 hemi 1500, technology has come a long way in 16 years.

Yeah my 6.2 Silverado gets 14 combined average per tank of mixed use. Best was 18 on the interstate with a good tail wind.
Not very hard to beat a Dodge hemi with anything

That's my problem with the people doing these reviews, they judge trucks on things they don't understand they aren't mechanic's or run fleets and look at downtime numbers. They just blurt out things they don't really understand and everyone walks in lock step based off of it.

The 7.3 is kind of falling short in every category for me. Less torque than I expected, less fuel efficientcy than I expected so far. The Chevy is actually doing quite well considering its using a 6 speed.

Do you realize that they did that to get an "out-of-the gate" number, right? People are going to be modifying the heck out of these monsters anyway. I am rare, I love Ford and Chevy and I feel like they make each other greater. I am more of a Ford dude, but I am impressed with RAM's 6.4 HEMI as well. What a trio, 6.4, 6.6, 7.3 like the good old days of big power.
Christopher Williams 6.4 Hemi is much more appealing with its new 8 speed. The old 66RFE held it back quite a bit not even having a true 6 speed ratio spread.
They tested the Tremor on the Dyno, not a good choice for a true dyno test. They would have been better off testing the one in this video on the dyno. The 10 speed is better suited to the 3.55 gearing than the 4.10 or whatever it was on the Tremor. When you look at the dyno on the 6.7 with the 10 speed and 3.55 gears the numbers were off the chart.

This channel has always been a wee bit biased towards GM. All these comments talking about fuel economy are quite annoying. A Toyota Prius gets better gas mileage than almost anything. But that’s the only thing it does better.
I am a diehard GM guy and I agree. I still see the GM doing better MPG but I think it would have been close enough it wouldn't be a selling point.
I do agree that the constant fuel mileage comments can get annoying, especially from private owners that should be fully aware of the cost to operate a full size truck. But given that the 7.3 is intended to be a reliable and economical motor for commercial and fleet operators, grading it heavily on its fuel economy is warranted. I don't think the ratings were terrible given the testing conditions and elevation. But I was expecting it to get a little closer to the Chevys numbers.
@@Bmc1025 Tow rating, at least to me, seem to vary a lot truck to truck even within the same models. I'll say this much, its getting better mileage than the Ecoboost F-150 I used to own. Loved that truck and the power as much as it loved gas
Wow. Didn't expect that outcome. Obviously they can't really match the rear gearing between the 2 brands, but 15.1 out of the Ford on the new 10-speed versus 16.0 out of the Chevy on the old 6-speed. That's an impressive finish for Chevy's new 6.6.
I mean the 350 has a 3.73
Not bad, 20 years ago, I used to have a 97 4x4 f250 with the 7.5L, a 5 speed manual and 3.55 gears. Best mpg I ever got was 13.5. This was with 285/75r16 tires. Most of the time 11-12mpg. That engine was rated 245hp and 410tq. So now we get more power and better economy.
I've got one with 4.10 gears, 5 speed, stock tire size and it's getting between 10 and 12 usually...
Love Ford bringing big displacement back but I'm with Andre on this one, I expected better.
Both of them get better empty mpg’s than my ‘05 Tundra! But it’s paid for and suits my need.
I was gonna say the same about my 2012 4.6l tundra... I've been getting 13.5mpg
The gearing on those trucks makes them burn more fuel than you would expect.
Si Raff I bought the truck new,and was going on the Toyota reliability. And that has proved true. If I had to buy a new truck it would probably be a Toyota. I worked at a local Chevy dealer until just recently, and saw a lot of issues with the new Chevy’s. The more bells and whistles, the more problems.
A 2019 tundra probably won't be able to get any better gas mileage either.

Interesting result. The result is consistent with what I would expect. Chevy does a very good job of squeezing efficiency out of their vehicles. However, I would not let a relatively small (really within the margin of error) difference in fuel economy be the deciding factor between these two trucks. There are many other considerations in my opinion. Either vehicle would be a good choice and I think that personal preference in styling and design will likely be big factors in peoples purchasing choices.
Nice video guys. One thing I notice when checking gas mileage on my vehicles over the years, is that ambient temperature and wind can make a huge difference. My driving usually takes through Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee so I often see major temperature swings. As the temp goes down so does my mileage. I would really like to see the F-250 test on a warmer day. Enjoy your videos and commentary.

It is pretty tough to split mpg tests over several days. Each leg of tests, on both trucks, should be done under near identical ambient conditions, meaning that each leg should be performed at nearly same time on same day. Temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, wind and fuel mix all play a role.

For future comparison videos, would it be possible to film both trucks on the same day with Mr Truck in the other vehicle to eliminate variables like the wind and weather conditions if it could be done logisticly.

What concerns me is longevity on these 8 and 10 speeds, they do a lot more shifting especially pulling or driving in the hills. Maybe I'm wrong but my basic knowledge on transmissions make me thing more shifting= more wear and potentially more heat?
I have not noticed that. From a 4spd to a 10 spd, 5.4 to a 3.5 EB, the newer truck does stay in 8th most of my towing trips, but the power difference in the engines allows it to stay put, where the 5.4 would kick to 3rd and rev to 4k. Haven't needed the 3.5 up that high yet.

Sure it's a large tank but it uses the same amount of fuel if not less than a tundra which has a 26 gallon tank. Less stops needed to fill up.

Gives you allot more range when you need it. My 2014 Sierra 1500 has only 26 gal and I wish it had 30 or more. I've taken it to places in Northern Canada with long distances between fuel stops. Which makes me wonder. How big was the fuel tank on the Chevy they tested? All that extra fuel weight might account for the difference in fuel economy.

Great comparison and you're the only one doing doing towing tests.
Like to see you add coolant temp and EGT to your tests. EGT is usually a diesel thing but towing it would be interesting to see how gas exgdust temps under load.
EGT matters on turbocharged engines because of the boost. EGT is not an issue on naturally aspirated engines, even when towing heavy uphill. Engine oil & trans. oil temps are.
These MPG numbers just make me want to hold on to my 1996 Cummins 12v even more! Lol

With my 06 duramax dually towing a 31k lb trailer of hay I got 9.8 mpg on a 77 mile trip with several decent sized hills. And I get about 15 mpg on the same loop with a 15k lb stock trailer. So this test surprised me with how awful the gas mileage is with these modern gas engines towing a trailer

But whats it real world power and MPG numbers once the limp mode comes on due to whatever $1000+ emissions component of the week going out, since that's pretty much how every diesel I have seen built in the last nearing 10 years actually spends most of it life opperatiing running as?

Very similar mpg's to what i seen in my old 2500 6.0 Silverado with 4.10s when it was stock.
Since it’s mostly a freeway loop, the weight had less to do with economy than the winds and temps. The comparison to the GM at this point is purely anecdotal. Need same trailer and load with same atmospherics to get a reasonable comparison.
GMs get better real world gas mileage.

If the 7.3 coupled up with a 4.30 rear end is any thing like my 6.2 gas it will do great.
I just bought a '19 F350 with the 6.2 and 4.30s, so far I love it the only complaint is the god awful mileage. Coming from a 2005 Cummins towing on the highway leaves something to be desired but anything under 50/55 I think the 6.2 is as good if not better than the 6 speed common rail.
Yeah it took me some time gettin use to a gas motor but I’ve had mine for 5 years now and it’s been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It’s got 149000 miles on it and I pull constantly. I’m off road a lot with me job to. I’ve put on 1 front axle , battery. And brakes. Other than that change the oil ($26) and that’s it.
The 4.30 would help.

There is a good video from bad tree productions on one of their trucks. Look it up. They did a Holley sniper throttle body with the factory efi on the 460. Actually worked really well. I think they were around 15/16mpg on it. And a considerable power gain
Depending upon the wind - that can really kill mileage. My F350 with a camper averages 12.3 with no wind. On a windy day the mileage can go as low as 9.5 MPG. You need to re-run the test on a day with no wind if you can do that.
It was windy for the Chevy too!
It shows that V8's are the same as they were 50 (or more) years ago, unloaded 15 mpg. Nothing new under the sun. :)

Bill you gotta remember that these engines have almost twice the output and the trucks weigh 30 percent more than the old ones. I understand what you are getting at though.

The new trucks are also at the mercy of the EPA. They’d use half the fuel otherwise.
Please run the MPG towing loop with this truck/Cimmaron trailer to see how it compares to the 7.3 with 3.55 gears.
Will this test be repeated without the wind? I’m curious if this could get to 16mpg without the wind.
Air temperature also makes quite a bit of difference in MPG comparisons. I used to have a Ford extended E-350 with a V-10. In cold weather (20 degrees F) it'd get about 13 MPG with about 3500# of cargo. In 70 degree weather, it'd be up to 16 MPG. If your comparing MPG you have to keep the conditions the same as possible. Also the MPG with a gas engine may be lower, but cost of maintenance and intital cost compared to a diesel is also lower. I've got a diesel that I pull my 5th wheel camper with and I love it, but I don't think you ever get you money back. Thank you for all of your great tests.

Help me out here....it's and XLT but it has the Lariat instrument cluster. How did that happen? I tried to build and XLT on Ford's page and there's no option that I can see to get that big screen in the cluster. What am I missing?
I had a2500 Ram power wagon and I loved the engine in it, it was a 6.4 gas and it would do anything that I needed it to do. Love love love the power wagon

I stop for gas about every 250 miles or so in my F-250, and 250-300 miles in my Impreza. Unless the Mrs is coming along, then we're stopping every 1-1.5 hours for a pee break and might as well top off the tank while we're stopped.
You can't compare tests from different times of year. You need to take into account winter fuel and summer fuel blends. Also air temperature will affect fuel milage. To compare they need to be tested at the same time under the same conditions with the same fuel.
Agreed. A truer test would have been them running side by side at the same time, pulling the same weight(GCVW), and then compare. Considering both test runs of the F250 were into the wind accounts for something as well as the winter blend fuel.
@@acdii um they drove a loop so one way was into the wind and the other would be with the wind at your back. so it all cancels its out.
@@wiks101 Did they have the same with the other truck? If not, then not a true comparison. Besides, a head wind can really affect MPG more than a tail wind, so it wont really cancel it out unless the tail wind is at least 10 MPH more.

$53,000 for any pickup truck is ridiculous and gluttonous. The rate that pickup truck prices have risen is absolutely crazy. I hope someone takes a serious look at this... It's right in line of paying $100 for sliced up jeans...
I agree....I bought my 15 Duramax ccsb for 51k out the door in Feb of 2015 it was 63k sticker....it was a bit high at the time, but when I see a similarly equipped truck today is close to 80k sticker.....yes, it's glutinous or as some might say, capitalism/ supply/ demand. Definitely not inflation at work. No way can I grabbed a LTZ today in the 50k range...it will correct.
I agree 100%. I personally don't need a brand new vehicle . If I had the money for a diesel or gas hd truck I'd go between 2005 to 2010 if I could swing it. 50,000 f150's I mean really . Not knocking Ford btw they're all doing it now.

Yeah they are a lot of money but if you count in inflation even my 2001 F150 sticker prices was just under 32k new and adjusted for inflation its 48k in 2019 money. Considering all the technology and advances it's really not that bad, it's the cost of living and wages that have not kept up with cost of things.

If I was actually towing weight like that I wouldn't even bother with a 3.55 gear for the 7.3 engine

The 3.55 is only rated to tow 12k I think. The 4.30 can do 15k.
The 10 speed makes up for it, it has a really low first gear.

6:24 Semi truck fuel economy
Some of trucks are hitting 10+ loaded now. Crazy. Our v10 school buses get 7.5 even with all the stops go and idle time. And 8.5 with Cummins. Though the diesels are all being phased out. Too slow, slow heat, and way more maintenance cost. Plus the noise/vibration. The gassers are so much nicer to drive.
That seems negligible unladen. Was the temp dropping? If so you got denser air, more fuel. My 2017 F150 gets horrible gas mileage in the winter. I average 21mpg in the summer and 17-18mpg in the winter. It really adds up in the cold temps.
I would be interested in seeing a towing test done with the premium unleaded fuel just for interests on if the mileage gets better when using the high octane fuel. Thanks for the video!!
High octane does not directly mean more power. It allows higher compression motors to use fuel more efficiently ( less preignition).
CHEVY WINS AGAIN....nothing beats a LS motor. I get the same mileage with a 6.0 w a 4.10.
MK I have 6.0 with 3.73 and it gets about the same pulling but empty 14 mpg it has 197,000 miles on the engine
I used to have a 2000 chevy 2500 4x4 6.0 4l80 it got 12mpg on the freeway
I love Ford but their engines are over complicated and break down more easily. Chevy is smart, small block pushrod v8’s will never die as long as they keep it simple.
4.10 gearing sucks though
The 6.6l l8t they tested here was actually not a LS engine. They are a fifth generation sbc like the 6.2l, but are stroked to 6.6l. So they are in the new "LT" engine family.
My father has a 2014 Ford F150. It averages 13mpg. Without a load.
(Edit) His truck is lifted slightly and has 35×12R18 tires.
He needs to keep his foot off the gas mine gets 16 -22mpg
That's odd. What octane fuel is he using and does he haul stuff in the back or pull a trailer? Driving short distance lowers mpg's as well like in my '13 F150 with a 5.0L. I drive a 2 mile round trip 5 day's a week and 20 mile round trip on Sunday. My mileage is 7.2 mpg.
RIP off the stock exhaust and put in a K&N air filter plus air up your tires to almost max psi that helps immensely

So imagine gm adding a 10 speed to their new gasser. Might be better than 16 mpg.
I don't think more gears is always a good thing. I recall on another Gauntlet test one of the two trucks tested had more gears and it kept upshifting and taking the engine out of the power zone. Then the engine would begin to strain and the truck would downshift. It cycled like this the whole way up the mountain...very annoying if I recall. That said, the Ford has good torque so it may not be an issue.

I have watched many videos with truck comparisons. There are the Ford Guys, Dodge guys, and the Chevy men! When trucks come off of the showroom floors, stuff works. After 100,000 miles, let me see which trucks are still performing at a satisfactory level. New trucks have wat to many bells and whistle gadgets and that leads to more failures. I live in a harsh winter climate 5 months out of the year in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Mechanical door steps, multi use tailgates, auto tailgates, low profile wheels, fancy chrome trim, and lady features! All that stuff fails at -10 and in deep snow with a 100 Libs of ice stuck to the truck. Ford has tons of great tech! Dodge plenty of power with a Yugo transmission! And the Chevy with a check engine light. I got 240,000 on my 02 Chevy Avalanche and it lasted 17 years before I sold it. I bought a 14 Chevy WT 1500 with 100,000 and it works great. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but practical. I just want a rust proof truck, which the manufacturers can make but they won’t.

lol it's not they're in the jet stream! Wind conditions can change quickly and dramatically. Besides, I doubt they were going in a straight line the whole time.

ChicagoSox give your head a shake! I could run that Chevy on 3 different runs on different days of the week and I bet I would get different MPG results each time. Same for the Ford, that’s what happens when you have real world testing. And I hate to tell ya, but that Ford when properly equipped can tow and hall more than that Chevy.
Matt S the Ford can definitely tow, but after watching these videos for a few years they always say the result is the result due to real world testing. This is the first time I’ve seen them make an excuse for the Ford

I have a 2500 Chevy heavy duty. Mirrors are awesome for visibility around them. The chrome front looks much better. Absolutely love my truck
I loved the longevity of my old 6.0 gas in the 2500HD I had but the 6.2 gas in my current F-250 pulls much stronger. I wished GM wouldn't have waited so long to upgrade the 6.0

Not really what we expected I appreciate you testing this vehicle but I do want to know on the unladen test did you run the truck in Ecomode because that’s the mode that you should have ran it in to get true miles per gallon empty
Thanks for this great test!. I own a 2017 F-350 SRW Diesel and have tested how MPG suffers as a function of speed and strong headwinds. This includes driving through stretches of Utah which permit 80MPH (85MPH is not challenged). With no trailer, the MPG loss between 60MPH and 85MPH was ~30%. Strong headwinds hurt a lot as well, and diminished your F250 trailer test. Still, I'm disappointed by Ford's MPG. Being purpose built for trucks, I expected better from the 7.3.
Now if the Chevy beats it in a 0 to 60 towing test, that would be hilarious. 😂
The Chevy is a 6.6L and the Ford is a 7.3L your kind of stupid the bigger the displacement the more gas you use I’d argue the ford is doing better than the Chevy considering the ford has 45 more cubic inches

Cowboy Texas Is your truck a Ford or a Gm? We actually like the Ford 6 speed autos at my transmission shop. They have a lot less problems then the Gm version. But we prefer the 4 speed because of the simplicity and how light they are. Their truly the best if you plan on working them hard.
I get 13mpg in my '11 f250 2wd w/ 6.2 gasser ... I'd call 15mpg a decent improvement.

Having owned Fords with the 460 and Chevys with the 454 both with 4:10 gearing, this is outstanding mpg IMO!
What axle gearing was the Chevy?
Do they both have to use 87 octane at 5,000 foot altitude?

460's were never anything to write home about, a good engine overall but they tended to choke on really heavy loads that 454's just did not.
454's also came with Turbo 400's and those are truly amazing transmissions. To be fair the C6 is great too but it is just so damned expensive to build vs a Turbo 400.
Not those withstanding i would probably prefer to buy a 454 or 460 based towing truck vs a 2020 Silverado or f250. Reason being they both are torque monsters when built right, cheap to find, and cheap to build up. When you are talking about $40,000 trucks buying a older truck such as a K20/2500/30/3500 or a F250/350 with a 460, and then doing a rebuild ends up being cheaper.
You also then have the option of using a great manual transmission like the SM465. A much nicer looking truck too overall. If you are towing 20,000+ Gas mileage is under 10 with pretty much any gas engine anyways, so why not opt for the one that is easier to work on overall?
The 1995 F350 4x4 Single Cab Dually 460 at work was a special order truck for a fire department and came with a C6 and 4.10 gears and a fiberglass utility bed instead of regular bed. Thing is absolutely screaming down the highway at 55MPH. Probably gets around 4MPG empty.
Now let’s see the ram 6.4 hemi with the 8 speed please!
I just bought a 2019 ram 3500 6.4 hemi standard cab long bed 4x4. 410 rear. Left nj with 900 miles on the truck. Drove to SW Florida towing 7000lbs. Keeping@ 65 mph and tire pressure at 80psi. I got 12.0 mpg. Very impressed the way it towed and how the transmission acted. I'm a Cummings diesel guy and again I was very impressed...
@@sashashpiruk4865 my dad has a 2014 3500 and he says it's the biggest piece of trash, it's been to the dealer multiple times per month and now the dealer doesn't want to work on his truck anymore, he was probably just unlucky with his truck
@@natetoland7537 I'm sorry to hear that sir. I use to be a die hard Ford guy. But since the 6.0 and 6.4 diesel problems I went Cummings and Rams. I've had nothing but good luck with them. I use them for my transport business and snow plowing. I'm not a fan boy. Just have good luck.

All the diesel trucks are good with today’s engines, forgetting the past, but the most loyal followers seem to be Ram! Nice to hear from someone who really uses them and not a mall crawler. (Which I have become since retiring, I used all Ford because I’m cheap, but I didn’t have any problems since 2000. One F350 gas in there, it was a giant pig on fuel.) I have owned well over 100 trucks in my life but I’m done with first hand knowledge of work trucks as of last year. Maybe I will see more of your comments!!

What was the air temp during both test? Air temp and da has a lot to do with mpg.
As others have mentioned, what considerations were made for the winter blend fuel?
Also, can you explain why you used 14,500 (trailer weight) with the Ford but 16,000 with the Chevy?
Probably because the Chevy was rated to tow more with a lower gear ratio, or it was just rated to tow more period regardless of axle ratio
Maybe to stack he deck...they paid for a Ford. Pretty sure the lower octane and Ethanol more than made up for winter blend, and oh....never mind the 10% lighter trailer

These are max tow fuel economy test. Every video tfl does has glaring inconsistency between trucks. But so does everyone driving them too. Think of this as what a truck your thinking of owning does.

My 7.3 wouldn’t get 15 mpg if you dropped it out of an airplane.
Running around out in the pasture driving to town averages about 9 to 10 miles a gallon
Drove it the other day on the open road with the cruise set at 68 miles an hour averaged about 13.1 with a 355.
Still a heck of a lot better than my old 454. Technology has come along ways.
Here’s my 1.5 yr. ownership experience with the 2020 Chevy 2500 experience below. Thanks guys for your test reviews of this and the Chevy. And for your honest reactions that I noticed Andre seemed to hope the Ford Godzilla would do better than the Chevy especially since the Chevy pulled a heavier trailer. I’ve sensed from other videos how Andre likes the “Godzilla” name and all. To keep this peaceful, both essentially get within 1 mpg of each other, how’s that? PS, I own my 2020 Chevy 6.6L gasser and … love it thus far. I get 17-18 mpg US on Hwy and 14-15 city and worse for both in winter. I Love the 82” long standard bed, the front & rear side steps (plus the optional side mounted Bed Storage Boxes leaving 4 ft. Width in my box yet lots of storage = Awesome!!!) direct fuel injection engine with the JD Power proven reliability and beefed up 6L90 transmission for this new 6.6L. Because I live in an area that has +6 months of real winter, I appreciate the AutoTrac transfer case for more secure winter driving.

As long as you're not dealing with too many hills, then you won't be worrying about 7-10. My buddy is a mechanic and he's probably 75% reliable which I can say more for some people.
Thats one issue I have with GM truck transmissions. They don’t like to shift and they will sit in a gear and high rev unless you punch the gas.
After having a F-150 with the 10 speed and towing 6200 pounds, and trying to tow that same 6200 pounds with a 6-speed F-150, I will take the 10 speed ALL DAY LONG. Period.

@TFL why was 87 octane (without ethanol ) used for the ford but 85 octane (with 10% ethanol) was used for the Chevrolet?
The different fuel grades do literally nothing for power, the higher octane just makes it less likely to detonate.

It won't effect it much but there is still an effect i got an 07 truck that is flex fuel, its reg gas vs e85 numbers are difference of i think was 20% loss using e85. Its only 10% in this case but still gonna hurt a small bit in fords favor.
I caught that also i thought it was just me. They did use 85 .When they did that I was said ewww no. So the chevy gets better mpg on cheaper gas go figure .Way to go Chevy !

@@paul.s9677 The Chevy was tested with warm weather fuel vs cold weather fuel for the Ford. 87 octane helps compensate for worse quality fuel and make the test more equal.

Would have been an accurate comparison had they tested both Chevrolet and Ford simultaneously (under the same weather conditions.) There is no telling what the temperature difference was(denser air gets more fuel), head wind/tail wind, etc...

Would be nice to see them tow the same weight at a more fuel efficient speed. I usually tow around 60 mph with my f350 dually 6.0.
I think that's one of the biggest problems in their test, they do it at speed. Most people pulling that heavy of a load in a gas (hell even in a diesel) would be 60-65mph for safety and control of the load. Also the Chevy was done in summer and lite winds, the poor Ford got winter fuel (packed with additives and maxed on Ethanol) and high winds. I can tell you all about how high winds effects MPG, I live on the South Texas Coast. We see 20mph + winds very regularly, my 2010 Tundra unloaded driving into that high wind will make 8-9mpg @60mph and 5-6mpg @75mph. But if we get a very calm day of wind, I get 20.8mpg @60mph and 16-17mpg @75mph. Best I have very got was 24.276mpg @60mph with at least a 25mph wind at my back on a trip up to San Antonio. My combined over the 2 years I've had the truck is 13.295mpg, that's about a 35% highway and 65% city driving. Right now on winter blend I'm pulling 10.8-11.9mpg in the city around here, in summer months I get 12.7-14mpg in the city (summer fuel here has almost no ethanol at all, too hot for it to stay in the tanks). So fuel is a big play just as wind is.
survivalguy, my 6.0 powerstroke brother!! Yeah, towing my 5,500 lb camper, I run 65 MPH max. I own an 04 F250 6.0. I don't see how these people run 75-80 MPH safely!

@@TheVenom8343 to answer your question ive been wrencing on a fleet of over 800 super duties in the harshest environment known to man ( the oilsands in northern canada ) since 2002 and can say they have gotten WAY more capable over the years , multiple brake upgrades, fully boxed frames, and way more tech as far as electronics (trailer anti sway , advancetrac etc..) the 2020's ride is far more capable then the 2002's (but i still like the simplicity of my 2009 v-10 ... )

Imo, the ford could do better, a couple examples on youtube were achieving much better gas mileage but, the real world varies based on altitude, temperature, how flat the road is, etc

Altitude mostly in this case. I took my V8 F-150 from Florida to ~6,300' elevation and lost about 2mpg hwy.

Actual Q1 2020 sales numbers suggest differently... Chevy truck sales are up +26% over Q1 2019 while Ford dropped -14% during the same period.
