  • In this tutorial for Blender 2.82 I show you some hard surface sculpting tips like using the Mesh filter and mask brushes to create a hardsurface model and remesh it using the new voxel remesher.
    To add details to the sculpting I add an alpha texture to the brush and paint it onto the high poly mesh using a drag dot stroke.

    Couple of questions.
    1. What is in your computer? If I try to sculpt anything with .007 voxel size my computer takes around 2 minutes to do anything.
    2. Is there a way, once these assets have been sculpted and look really nice, to turn them back into lower poly assets that might be more useful for a game without extreme deforming of the mesh?
    3. I'm noticing that my mesh often looks very blurry/pixelated when I remesh to a fine precision and edit it using sculpting tools like you are here. Any idea why that happens and how to fix it?
    Awesome video, and thanks for your time!

    • @JayAnAm
      @JayAnAm  Před 4 lety

      Hi m8, here my answers:
      1. I have a 8 Core CPU and a Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 Mini graphiccard.
      2. I will come up with a retopo tutorial for hardsurface, but I already have some retopo videos online.
      3. Not really, perhaps it makes a difference if you scale the object in object mode without applying the scale. Try to apply the scale for the object before you remesh.

  • @orphydiancg7759
    @orphydiancg7759 Před 4 lety

    a bit off topic regarding hard surface modeling and Booleans because it seems it's your preferred modeling tehnique. Let's say I want to model a droid or some sci-fi stuff, a model with a lots of parts. To what degree can we use both booleans and traditional polygon modeling altogether for such projects ? Are you pretty much confined to choose one of this techniques from head start or ? Also wouldn't get really messy and slow your scene difown you keep add Boolean objects big and small for all sort of details, that you could have easily done with basic poly modeling but due to the improper topo after booleans you can't really do that. It would really be great to see a general video about that. I've checked Gleb Alexandrow vids and he seems to use almost exclusively the booleans but he makes uses of a big library of already prepapaired models or parts that he plug into the mesh so that doesn't answer my questions very clear.
