Its stunning how beautifully you've done this .... this typically reminds me of how my mum in law would wear the 'gorod' ( traditional bengali laal paar or red border ) on Dashami for Thakur ( Durga Pujo ) baran ( bidding her adieu on the last day of Pujo )
This is called Aatpoure or shadhashidhe style .... usually this was not worn with a blouse ( that is a British Colonial influence ) so the end of the pallu or 'aanchal' would also go across the main shoulder ( to give double layer cover across the bosom ) and the end would have the key cluster tied at the end to weigh the pallu down .
There was no use of safety pins then , again use of pins and brooches came in as a British influence.
The back of pallu would go up on the head as a 'ghomta' as a mark of respect to the husband or other family elders ....

This is a bit different than the traditional Bengali drape which is called aath poure( aath means 8 and poure means prahar sections of day) bengali women in earlier decades used to drape saree in that manner because it enabled them move their arms and legs freely to do work without any problem.hope you find this information helpful 😊

Tia, you are a cultural treasure. I grew wearing salwars, but now that my weight fluctuates I've become more and more partial to sari's. I can't keep dropping hundreds on salwars every-time I gain or lose weight, but a sari is one size fits all. And you make that possible, thank you so much.

one thing about it is the broad pleat is done once...as I saw my gran do... that's why it's called a "ek kuchir sari" (a one pleat sari)sometimes also the pallu ...everything rests on one shoulder in the traditional drape...so the turned end would rest on the right and left is bare . Rest...everything is absolutely perfect and you look totally gorgeous

you should try dropping the same pallu on your left shoulder. What I mean is, the last bunch or the end of the pallu that you pleated and pinned on your right shoulder, could instead over lap the pleats and be pinned over the left shoulder pleats. This way the pallu or the border comes right in front. Your style is how we do it in east bengal, versus the one I'm talking about is more a West Bengal style.

You did such an AMAZING job draping this! Another version would be that you do just one big reverse front pleat and bring the rest of the sari to your chest which would leave an even bigger/dramatic loop in the back. With that loop, you can cover you hair/bun for a more traditional look.
I am eagerly waiting for you to do a full Gujarati drape in a silk sari using the sari silhouette where you iron the chest pleats in front 😍

One question though - I guess walking and stuff like that is possible. But especially when I see this style of draping, where you tuck a little piece of fabric in the back. Isn't it kind of hard when you bend over? Like when you need to pick something up from the ground? :D It could be that the piece at the back just comes out or not? Would you just pin it down too?
