Vivien Leigh was a extraordinarily beautiful woman...it is understandable that despite the competition generated amongst the top actresses of the day it was she who was chosen to play the coveted role of Scarlett O'Hara....
I cannot believe it's been NINE years since I first recoreded and watched this. Definately one of the best documentary's on larry and viv...it brings a tear to my eye every time (well, the end does).
I always loved him as an actor...just what a theatre actor should be...acting from the depths of his soul. I see many similarities between Olivier and Timothy Dalton.
A Scorpio wife will support her loved ones even forsaking herself when in adoration of another. It's a shame she didn't pour that love into her daughter instead of her romantic partner.
Is all that footage of the bed and the nightable Vivien's real room? That's incredible! Larry and Vivien's story always tears me up. But "True love lasts forever..."
Thanks so much for sharing this document I've never seen before.Really interesting despite the low quality of the images. Anyway Laurence Olivier is always the cutest one ;)))
Vivien Leigh did not died because her heart gave out, she had TB and she was still smoking. It was reported that she had a hole in her lung. She was asleep in bed when her boyfriend checked on her and when her boyfriend checked on her a second time he found her on the floor and not breathing. What probably happened is that she started coughing and could not stop as she was probably drowning in her own fluids. She probably got up to go to walk to the bathroom for water and she died. Her friend had told her doctor that she was ill and spitting up blood but her doctor told the friend "who is her doctor?". He didn't take it serious.
Ha. Ofcourse he loved her less than she did him. She was superiour in all ways though. He went 4 a kosher life at the end not carring much 4 her. He was simply self - centered.

Oh how I love and adore them both! So tragic what happened to them. One of my fave couples of all time.
My favorite actress..

Vivien was 2 artistic for a house wife.
It wasn't meant to be.
Larry jealous of his wives--what a cad.

Thank you for the narration Gandalf
Sadly the loving & soft Flowers have to go first🥲🌹❤
cool
I read he destroyed Michael Redgrave out of jealousy and tried to minimize Paul Scofield. Probably others. Jealousy and insecurity are killers.
😩❤️
Holy crap. Laurence nude/skinny dipping, and aware he was being filmed. Why can't Chris Evans follow suit?
He did now
@FanofBewitched Problem is... NO one could play them.
The documentary depict L.Olivier a little too much as a Narcissist..:-(
Actors and most other artists are narcissists. They have to be. The mask they must wear
He was an artist, and an actor to boot!
Pretty much what he was ... as are many actors
Get going.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING, WHAT A DIFFERENT TAKE ON HIS FEELINGS ABOUT GTHE SUCCESS OF HIS WOMEN!! WILL WE EVER KNOW THE FULL TRUTH?? ID DOUBT IT!!
@rachelij True very true.
interesting. this documentation seems to imply he begrudged jill and vivien their success quite a bit....
He was neither a saint, nor a hypocrite. He was a very great artist. The man is nothing, the work is everything .
@lapetiteombre Agree 100% that would make a really good movie!

I don't know what Vivien saw in Laurence. He wasn't the best when she died.
He was good looking, very articulate, charming... very narcissist. So for a woman as fragile as Vivien, it was easy to fall in love with Larry.
I've tried to see what was so attractive about Olivier and have yet to see it.

I think Lawrence had connections. He was also gay; that opens really the door for u in this field.
Vivien also wasn't Jewish. Limited power.
I never knew that Olivier was Jewish............
